Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information shown below.

The bar chart presents information about how many houses were constructed per year in two cities
namely, Derby and Nottingham from 2000 to 2009.

Overall, the number of houses almost increased each year in Derby, while change in the same direction
was not observed in Nottingham per year until 2009.

In detail, the number of new houses was almost 50 in 2000 and increased gradually until 2003. Over the
following four years, this indicator remained at the same level, approximately 120. After this period a
sharp increase was observed in the number of new houses. Hence, until 2009 this indicator increased
almost seven times to 350.

In 2000 and the next year, the number of Nottingham new houses was about 50. Although, this figure
was higher than Derby’s, over the following four years it decreased dramatically and in 2006 it made up
the lowest level. Though, the next year an unexpected increase was observed, in 2008 this indicator fell
again. By 2009, the number of houses built in Nottingham had increased suddenly and had reached its
highest.
