Operation
Lathe Machine

Operation

A piece of machinery that uses tools to execute a variety of operations on the workpiece while rotating it
around an axis of rotation. These operations include cutting, sanding, knurling, drilling, deformation,
facing, and turning. The goal is to produce an object that is symmetrical about the axis.

Specification:

Spindle speed 40 – 2,500 rpm

Distance between centres 630 mm
Swing over machine bed 330 mm
Swing over machine support 210 mm
Volts: 240
Model: Crusader Lathe
Serial number: 190442
Amps: 9.35
Made in: UK
Drilling Machine

Operations

It is a method of cutting that involves spinning a drill bit to create a circular-shaped hole in solid materials.
The drill bit is often a multi-pointed, rotating cutting instrument. While rotating at speeds ranging from
hundreds to thousands of revolutions per minute, the bit is forced against the workpiece. Through cutting
out chips (swarf) from the hole as it is being drilled, this presses the cutting go against the workpiece.

Surface grinding
Our Jones & Shipman surface grinder can generate ultra-flat surfaces on metallic materials with a surface
polish of 0.2 m Ra. It is employed in numerous different engineering tasks.

Operations
Surface grinding
Application:

 It is useful for the grinding of various tools and cutters.

 It is used to finish flat surfaces and cylindrical surfaces.
 Abrasive milling can be performed on the workpieces.
 It is used in various industries and institutions.

Advantages:

 A high surface finish can be produced.

 It can produce a smooth surface on metallic and non-metallic surfaces also.
 High productivity
 No skilled operator is required.

Specification:

Speed of wheel 2,800 rpm

Table size 457 mm x 152 mm
Grinding wheel size 178 x 13 x 31.75 mm
Longitudinal traverse 483 mm
Cross traverse 171 mm

Used:

 The precision grinding of syringes used in electro-spraying

 The precision grinding of parallel surfaces in press tooling
 To achieve ultra- flat surfaces prior to the application of strain gauges used in undergraduate teaching
laboratories
Are Welding

It is a widely used abrasive machining process in which a spinning wheel covered in rough particles
(grinding wheel) cuts chips of metallic or nonmetallic substance from a workpiece, making a face of it flat
or smooth.

Spot welding
Serial number: 3G3J1927150161
Made in: Taiwan
Is a type of electric resistance welding used to weld various sheet metal products, through a process in
which contacting metal surface points are joined by the heat obtained from resistance to electric current.

Advantages:

 Spot welding has high compatibility with efficiency and uniformity.

 Spot welding is economical, i.e., it is relatively cheap to operate.
 Spot welding provides a much more efficient way of utilizing electrical energy for welding process.

Disadvantages:

 Spot welding requires a large working area.

 Spot welding is not suitable for the thicker materials

Applications:

 A high surface finish can be produced.

 It can produce a smooth surface on metallic and non-metallic surfaces also.
 High productivity
