Ought I to forgo some luxury whenever I can thereby enable someone else’s life to be saved?

Nowadays we speak so much about the charity and doing the right thing that we are used to the idea
that we must sacrifice our personal pleasures to support the social happiness. In my opinion, anyone is
supposed to forgo any individual interest and enjoyment for the sake of somebody’s life.

Firstly, social interests are more important for society as we are a unity of different people that are
meant to live together. Living in the same country, the same city, the same community makes us more
responsible for each other.
Moreover, helping someone, especially saving his life, is one of the key issues of any religion. As a result,
we feel safer and trust each other more.

On the contrary, living in the consumer society, we are so busy gaining profit and raising money that we
often do not notice that there is someone who desperately needs our help. We rush by to the office or
back home.
All in all, we are still human and our humanism will win. People will find a life more important than any
other benefits and profits as we all would like to feel that supporting hand next to us.
