PROCEDURE FOR HANDLING AND REPACKING OF DAMAGED STOCK

1.1 This operating procedure outlines the process for handling and repacking damaged stock

3.0 Procedures

Damaged stock shall include discrepancies in physical condition as follows:


- Dented or leaking drums; torn bags; crushed fibre kegs or cartons; broken seals etc
- Wet packages, dirty packages
When handling damaged goods, always observe safe handling requirements and consult MSDS.
All damaged stock shall be processed with minimum delay to avoid risk of contamination or exposure.

3.1 Damaged goods from in-coming goods

3.1.1 Refer to clause 2.4 and 2.5 of SOP 602. Warehouse staff shall record on the Proof of Delivery
(POD) docket if goods supplied from Local Suppliers are identified as damaged at the time of receival.
3.1.2 For goods received from overseas, the Storeperson shall record on the Purchase Order or Delivery
Docket for damaged goods which are identified. The Storeperson shall immediately clean and tidy up the
packages if there is any spillage, protect the damaged goods from further damage and contamination with
appropriate packaging material, such as plastic bag, carton, drum, etc. The Storeperson will isolate in the
goods in warehouse. The Storeperson will advise the Logistics Coordinator of damage.
3.1.3 The damaged goods shall be inspected by the Sales Manager (or Delegate) to decide if goods are
to be dumped or appropriately repacked by 3rd Party Repacker. Damaged goods can be repacked
internally if the damage is only on packaging and the product is not exposed in anyway and the product
integrity has not been compromised. Damaged goods are to be dumped if the product has been
exposed/contaminated with rusted containers or product integrity is in question.

3.2 Repacking of Damaged Goods

3.2.1 Repacking product is not allowed in Singapore warehouse except where external packaging is
being changed and product is not exposed otherwise this is to be contracted out to an approved 3 rd Party
repack facility.

3.3 Dumping of Damaged Goods

3.3.1 Upon approval from the Sales Manager for the dumping of the damaged goods, the Warehouse
Coordinator arranges for the physical dumping of the goods and advises the Finance department to
update the inventory records.
3.3.2 After confirmation from waste contractor, disposal records are to be filed with the site SH&E
Advisor and kept for at least 3 years.
