PART 1.

Instructions: Write a personal letter addressed to Jose Rizal based on what you want to say
about him and his works. The letter must be self-reflective and must emphasize your knowledge
about Rizal. The letter should be encoded and must not exceed two pages.

Greetings, Dr Jose Rizal

It was only a few years ago that I learned some information about you in the little over twenty years that
I had lived in this crazy planet. Even though December 30 has a reputation for being the day you say
goodbye to the world, most people my age would have forgotten about it because things change so
slowly these days. I will never be able to comprehend the depths of your brilliance because I am only a
dumb descendent. But this letter is all I have to offer you in appreciation for all that you have done for
us.During your reign, Dr. Jose Rizal, you were the Filipino people's hope. You brought about the reforms
in our nation with your brains and nationalism. With your influence, you moved the entire nation. You
became the reason for them to fight and to survive .

The Philippines is what it is now as a result of your sacrifices. Despite the chaos that we're now
experiencing, the freedom and privileges we enjoy are priceless. Life is not long. However, we can
interpret it. And we learned that from you. Your unwavering devotion to our nation and your sense of
patriotism serve as a symbol of hope. You may not be considered as a hero but your books and writings
awaken Filipino's desire to conquer the freedom they deserve. For me you're an inspiration to speak for
what is right and for what I deserve. I appreciate you from the bottom of my heart for your efforts; you
are truly outstanding.

Sincerely yours,
JENELYN BESTUDIO

PART 2.

Instructions: Reflect on the two quotations below from the two most popular novels of Jose
Rizal. After reflecting on the essence and gravity of the lines, write an essay about your
interpretation of both quotes. The essay should be encoded and must not exceed two pages.

“I die without seeing dawn’s light shining on my country…You, who will see it, welcome it for
me…don’t forget those who fell during the nighttime.” – Elias about to die

My reflection about the quote is, it talks about filipino revolutionaries who was prepared to give his life
in service of his nation. Like the injured man, Jose Rizal passed away before witnessing his nation free
itself from Spanish rule. He instructs us to embrace the light blazing on our nation—our independence, a
future, and hope—through the quote. Additionally, he encourages us to remember the those who
perished at night.Reminding us to not forget the people who fought with their lives just for us to have
the freedom we deserve.

“May Nature guard you in the deepest of the deep, among the corals and the pearls of the
eternal seas,” the priest said, solemnly stretching out his hand. “When men should need you for
a purpose holy and sublime, God will know how to raise you from the bottom of the seas. Until
then you will do no evil there, you will not thwart justice or incite greed!” – Father Florentino
after throwing Simoun’s treasure chest to the sea

My reflection on this is Money is the source of evil. The possession of money could make you greedy and
also could be used for further corruption.Money is useful for good causes. More often it is used for evil.
If all our government officials were poor and remained poor, we might perhaps have a just society. But
an oligarchy of multimillionaires (or those who wish to become multimillionaires) is an evil thing.Because
of money you hurt the people around you, it affects your pride and ego forgetting what things really
matter. After all, you cannot bring the money or wealth when you die.
