For LAN Choose the Loacl Area Connection (typicaly DICOM) from the dropdown.
Note: for LAN, use the Docking station LAN port to connect to the Hospital network.
2. Configure the Internet Protocol to work in either Static IP (fixed IP) or in DHCP (Automatic).
Set the IP and DNS following instructions and Information obtained from local IT.
3. In cases were LAN is enabled and more then one docking station is being used with one
tablet, repeat above steps 1-2 while tablet is docked and connected with LAN on other
Docking Stations.
Imprrtant notes:
If a DICOM/Detector IP address starts with the same 3 doted decimal as the IP address of a
local IP then it will create a collision in broadcasting.
E.g. DICOM IP address 192.168.37.5 will make collision with Detector IP 192.168.37.21.
In such case the Cisco IP, Detector NIC IP (Host IP) and Detector IP (192.168.37.21) should
start with 10.0.0.xxx.
* The allowed Detector IP address is 192.168.ww.xx or 10.0.yy.zz while xx must be lower than
100 (in case where above IP limitation is not sufficient to avoid network collusion).
Network Collisions will result in an unstable network behavior and may lead to an
unexplained loss of communication between the ArtPix Tablet and the Pixium
Detector
To set hospital networks under Hospital press WiFi settings in the settings menu, the WiFi
settings screen will appears:
- To add a new or hidden network manually, press Add button, a new network will be
added fill in the network parameters and press Save.
- To add available networks press Refresh and choose the desired network to join.
- To delete networks check the desired networks and press Remove button
The network parameters include:
- SSID (Service Set Identification) - Limited to maximum of 32 characters
- Profile name
- Password - Limited to maximum of 63 characters
- Auto Connect check box indicates whether the network is available for auto
connection within application, if its signal is the strongest among the available
networks.
In case where the windows Firewall must be activated, the relevant ports used to send and
receive data from the detector must remain “open”.
The ports used to transfer the image and communicate with the detector are based on the
detector IP‟s:
Where IP is 192.168.ww.xx or 10.0.yy.zz, (xx ≤ 100, zz=0..255)
- Detector will respond to host on port 2043+xx (or zz) – ranged between 2043-2298
- Detector will send image to host on port 5998+xx (or zz) - ranged between 5998-6253
Example:
for IP address 192.168.37.20,
- Response port is 2043+20 = 2063
- Image transfer port is 5998+20 = 6018
From the SW Setting- , choose the Hospital & Logo from the Hospital tab and change the
Hospital Name (click Save to save). This will update the hospital name on each image and its
DICOM String when sent to Store or Print.
In the same setting it is possible to change the Thales logo on the upper left side by loading a
new logo, having 1:4 ratio of any resolution, file type .png.
Store Attributes
The used Attributes and their related DICOM tag numbers can be modified from the
DICOM store General Settings

settings will suite most common printers)
Film Settings
In order to save the printer settings, it is required to check at least one Film Size that is
supported by the Printer & to set one Film Size as a Default film size.
If necessary it is possible to add new Film Size, Edit or Deleting existing one.
Note:
There is no possibility to choose Film Size or Printer when sending Image to Print and only
one Printer can be set per Body part, therefor, for each required Film Size a new Printer
should be define in the DICOM Print settings, each with the same Printer settings
however, with different Film Size. This Printer would be defaulted per Body Part (in the
Body Part/Study settings).
It is recommended to Name the Printer in the Printer Display Name with the Film Size.
Note: for instruction to update the Worklist Hospital Examination Names Matching List, see
Appendix C.
See section 4.7.5 “Hospital/DICOM Network Settings” for additional Network settings for
DICOM.
From the Windows desktop run the System Utility task from within the ARTPix folder and choose
the Backup/Restore option:
It is highly recommended to save a copy of a full Backup to an external storage device as well as
to D: drive (in case where Windows get corrupted and needs to be restored to production
backup).
Note:
In software versions ≤ 3.01.05 the default Backup directory is c:\BckupDir.
It is possible to modify the default location for the backup directory from the System
Parameters: Backup/Default location for Backup and Restore Operation
5 Acceptance Test
All test results should be recorded on a printed copy of Appendix B
Using the mouse wheel, zoom into the image and with the right and bottom scroll bars scroll
through the image verifying that there are no visible Defect Pixels.
If defected pixels or artifact are viewed, verify calibration pre-conditions are met (see
section 4.3) and recalibrate the detector.
If necessary perform Manual Defect Map Creating (for more details see section 7.10
“Detector Manual Defect Map Correction".
Example for defected pixels:
If the Detector is also used with Grid frame or in a Bucky, acquire flat images at the same
conditions as above for the Gain and DM test (use nominal SID and compensate with the kV
mAs to achieve the same dose - 25µGy and 2.5µGy) and verify no artifact is visible.
If artifact exists, examine the Grid frame or the Bucky for any deformation, misalignment or
object that may create the artifact.
Repeat the Test for all existing detectors and Buckies.

such event, it is highly recommended to run a third party updated Virus
protection program to identify and remove such treats prior to enabling back
the McAfee Application Control.
Attempting to run software that was installed without first changing the McAfee Application
control to “Update” state (WL_UnProtect) will result in an error,
Example of an error:
NOTE:
When using the Pixium EZ detector outside a Bucky, contact may be made between the
detector housing and patient‟s body. Always clean the detector before using it for new
patient or alternatively, insert the detector inside a certified plastic bag.
Thales recommends wrapping the Portable detector using a disposable plastic bag (which
is X-ray transparent) in order to prevent infection by virus or bacteria.
The following table provides a list of materials that can be used for cleaning the EZ
detector.
The table contains clinic agents with the associated active substances and shows their
effect in terms of cleaning efficiency or damage risk on the detector.
This effect is indicated by the first quote (+, 0 or no) in the column “clean”. The meaning of
the quote is as follows:
“+” means a perfect cleanness even after several hours exposure;
“0” means that slight discoloration might occur especially for several minutes to hours
exposure;
“no“ means that the surface might be seriously affected and thus is not guaranteed by
specification.

In case where more than one ArtPix system is used or in an event where one ArtPix
system is used with more than one Cisco (each has different Docking station), each
Cisco in the hospital should have different IP and different SSID/Password.
The Cisco WAP and EZ Detector IP should start with the same 3 first doted decimals of
the Host IP, e.g. 192.168.37.xx
The SSID of the Cisco should be “ARTPIX-50” to “ARTPIX -99”, to match the Cisco WAP
IPs‟ last doted decimal (50-99).
Every EZ detector should have different IP where the last doted decimal should be 20-
49.
In cases where an EZ detector is shared amongst two Thales systems (Multi share), the
EZ Detector IP and Host IP should be set the same in both systems.
E.g. Host IP: 192.168.37.131, EZ Detector IP: 192.168.37.21 set in both systems.
If a DICOM/Detector IP address starts with the same 3 doted decimal as the IP address
of a local IP then it will create a collision in broadcasting.
E.g. DICOM IP address 192.168.37.5 will make collision with Detector IP (192.168.37.21).
In such case the Cisco IP, Detector NIC IP (Host IP) and Detector IP (192.168.37.21)
should start with 10.0.0.xxx.
Network Collisions will result in an unstable network behavior and may lead to an
unexplained lost communication between the ArtPix Tablet and the Pixium
Detector

In case where the Restore system Disk is done on and old system that was originally
delivered with ArtPix version 3.00.XX, this system do not contain the McAfee Application
Control (White list). In this case it is necessary to run a Virus Scan and then reinstall the
current SW version during which the McAfee Application Control will be installed and the
enumerating (white Listing) process will be done.
A way to identify if a system was delivered in old configuration without the McAfee
Application Control, from All Programs in Windows Start menu, check to see if McAfee
VirusScan Console exist:
In such case, it is highly recommended to run the VirusScan Console and update its
databases the McAfee update first then run a Full Scan.
1. Update the McAfee databases by right clicking on AutoUpdate and choose Start:
(* requires internet connection)
2. Run full scan by right click of Full Scan and choose Start from the VirusScan Console:
3. Wait for the scan to finish and make sure no virus was detected, if a virus was found use
the antivirus application to
remove it.
5. When prompted, enter the password “techsp” twice to activate the McAfee
whie list.
6. Reboot the Tablet and verify ArtPix Sw fanctunality.
When the bottom orange LED is lit, this may indicate the following default situations:
- Charger to battery communication
The battery is not asserted correctly in the charger. Remove battery and re-insert. If the
problem persists this could indicate a faulty battery.
- Battery temperature
The battery has communicated with the charger that it is not within the safe operating
temperature to charge. The battery does not need to be removed from the charger to
cool. The charger channel will remain in a fault condition until the battery is removed
and re-inserted without an over-temperature condition being present. If problem
persists check connectors are not damaged or battery is not faulty.
All four LEDs per slot:
If no LED is illuminated on battery insertion, then the battery is not inserted correctly.
Remove and re-insert it. If the problem persists; check connectors are not damaged or
battery is not faulty.

EZ detector drop down and attach all available detectors.
The user may capture important data of the last acquired image for reporting issues or
analyzing system behavior by pressing the Capture Image Data in cases where the last
image acquired is either corrupted or consists of an artifact.
This function pulls all relevant data from the Detector concerning the last acquired image
(raw image, all reference files, corrected image, log file, initialization files, and more) and
stores it into a predefined folder (P:\Exe\Correction Tables\LastDataAcquisition).
The operator should use this function only when specifically requested by the local service
personnel or by Thales CTS.
2.
To start the Capture of the Last Acquisition Data click on .
3. After few seconds, a successful message will be prompted and the data will be saved to a
folder in P:\Exe\Correction Tables\LastDataAcquisition directory:
4. A new folder will be created each time the Capture Image Data is pressed, and its name
will contain the detector serial number and the time stamp of the tool activation:
5. This folder will contain all relevant information for the last acquired image:
The following procedure will allow adding new defective pixels to a current defect map
reference file using Pixrad Viewer Software.
In general when new defective pixels appear in the image , as a first measure, it is always
advised to first perform full detector calibration, during which a new Defect Map file will
automatically be created overweighting existing file(see section 4.3.1 Detector Gain &
Defect Map calibration).
If still, during Image Quality test, some defect pixels exist, follow below procedure to
manually correct these pixels by adding them to the current Defect Map file.
In an event where pixels intermittently appear, it will be required by the end user to save the
last image data of an acquired image when defective pixels exist (see section 0 above)
while the data saved can be used for the manual pixel flagging and correction.
1. Launch Pixrad Viewer and follow steps 1 to 7 in section 4.3.1 Detector Gain & Defect Map
calibration verify to select the relevant detector from the detector list to which the manual
defect correction is needed.

Using the Operation Mode utility it is possible to set the ArtPix software in Demo mode, in
which a full demonstration of the software can be done without the need of the
detector or an X-ray source. Image acquisition can be simulated with real images
placed in a predefine simulation directory of the system (D:/Simulation Disk).
* In case the Simulation folder doesn‟t exist in the system there is possibility to receive it
from Thales.
Using the same utility the software can be set back to be used in clinical configuration.
Switching from Production to Demo or back will not clear the predefined detectors in
the system, after returning to Production mode it will still be possible to connect to the
detectors.
Using the Operation Mode utility to set in Demo or Production mode will clear the
system Databases including patient information and images. It is highly
recommended to perform a full system Backup before operation.
Reset Data Base to factory default is available both in „Demo Mode‟ and in „Production
Mode‟.
To reset Database go to Desktop ARTPix-> System Utilities ->Operation Mode (Demo/
Production)
Press Clear Database button. A message will appear notifying that previous system
images and patient data will be deleted:

* This document can be printed and provided to Hospital representative prior to system
installation.
The SW default tag is 0032,1060 (Requested Procedure Description) without nested tag
(not part of sequence tag)
If this tag (0032,1060) is used by the hospital RIS for matching, than the matching can be
set using the patient registration in the SW, when choose examination during patient
registration to an unmatched examination this tag content can be viewed and copied
from the bottom Right “Procedure Description” field. Then copied to the matching list in
the patient registration:
- Register the patient coming from the Hospital RIS , when getting to the Select Exams
screen, the matching code can be viewed under the Procedure Description filed:
- Select the Exam required to be match to this Code and select to copy the Procedure
Description filed:
- Select the Hospital Examination Name filed from the ArtPix Settings and paste the
Code previously copied, select the examination from the Examination Dropdown and
choose Add:
The following example can provide an explanation of how to look for the relevant
information in the Merge log in order to determine the right setting for the Hospital
Examination Tag and the Hospital Examination Nested Tag to be used when setting the
Hospital examination name matching in the ArtPix SW (SW Settings):
- The patient name is HECTOR EDWARD (Patient Name can be searched in the log by
CTL+F)
- The Hospital matching code in this case is - XR PELVIS 3 VIEW (AP,INLET,OUTLET)
From the following Merge Log there are 3 ways in which matching can be done for this
Patient/examination:
1. Using 0032,1060 tag (Requested Procedure Description), without the Nested tag (filed
empty)
2. Using 0008,0104 tag (Code Meaning) and the Nested tag will be 0032,1064 (Requested
Procedure Code Sequence) - see below SQ and the actual tag is Tabbed spaced after
3. Using 0040,0007 tag (Scheduled Procedure Step Description) and the Nestled tag will be
0040,0100 (Scheduled Procedure Step Sequence) - see below SQ and the actual tag is
Tabbed spaced after
