REFLECTIVE JOURNAL

WEEK 4

On Monday, February 19, 2024, Wesleyan University-Philippines

announced that we don’t have class due to the school non-working day.

Tuesday, February 20, 2024, I discussed a new lesson and checked the
activities, projects, and other performances of my students. This day, the
children are very stubborn; it is very hard to stop and reprimand them. But at
the end of the day, I finished my class well, I stayed calm, and I learned lessons
from my students. I can say that it is very difficult as a teacher to handle a
class with stubborn children, but despite all that, the enjoyment is still there
because you see the children learning from the knowledge you impart to
them, and they make progress not only with their knowledge but also when it
comes to their attitude and values.

On Wednesday, February 21, 2024, after all my discussions in the four

sections, I gave a short quiz to my students. I noticed some students copying
the answers of their classmates, and even if I told them not to copy the
answers of their classmates, they still didn’t even listen to me. I told them to
stay for a while, and I would only order them to bring my stuff to the faculty
without them even knowing that I would tell them and teach them the good
manners that they needed in order to be responsible enough in their studies. I
realized that being a teacher should not only impart knowledge so that
children can learn but also teach good manners inside the school to help them
develop their overall well-being about what they experience in real-life
situations.

Thursday, February 22, 2024, I handled classes, discussed, provided

quizzes, and continued the physical fitness test in the sections that had not
yet finished this performance task. As I go to Daan Sarile Integrated School,
my patience is tested every day, especially in one of my sections where the
children are really stubborn. I feel so sad because sometimes I don't know how
to handle the different attitudes of my class. At the end, I realized that
teaching the learners is not tiring; what is more tiring is reprimanding and
banning the nasty students.
On February 23, 2024, Friday, we are attending the Provincial
Networking Board for Teaching Education, or PNBTE Seminar, at the Nueva
Ecija Convention Center, Palayan City. This is my first time attending a seminar
with different schools here in Nueva Ecija. I'm so happy that I was a part of this
kind of seminar that I can say it is truly meaningful because what we studied
here has something to do with "Ethical Pedagogy in the Modern Classroom:
Navigating Teaching Strategies and Legal Principles." This seminar helped me
to know the teaching strategies and legal principles that a teacher should
learn and impart in his life in order for me to become effective, efficient, and
knowledgeable enough in the field of teaching. Besides this, I learned the dos
and don'ts of being a professional teacher. This PNBTE seminar really helped
me a lot because I learned new knowledge and skills that I need to impart to
myself as I go through this teaching profession.
