REFLECTIVE JOURNAL
WEEK 9

Monday, March 25, 2024, was the first day of the 3rd quarter exams for
all the students at Daan Sarile Integrated School. This is the first time I have
handled students who are going to take an exam. In the first place, I thought
that it was hard to handle the exam days, but when I already experienced it, it
turned out to be very easy and enjoyable. The only thing that is really difficult
to handle is the behavior of the students. But at the end of the day, I always
remind myself that I need to continue what I started because I know that I am
the hope of every student in order for them to learn and be able to change
their behavior and mistakes. I do believe that, as a teacher, you need to impart
good behavior among the students and share with them the knowledge that
they should be able to practice and learn.

March 26, 2024, is Tuesday, the second and last day of the 3rd quarter
exam at Daan Sarile Integrated School. On this day, I still handled and gave
exams to the students. After they took the exam, I checked their examination
paper. I am glad because, based on the result of their assessment, I saw their
strengths and weaknesses, and I also saw that they learned from me because
they got high marks. Although there are still students who can't keep up, I'm
still thankful and happy that at least I saw that they are learning and making
progress in their studies. As a future educator, I realized that it is very
important to be an effective teacher because you can not only help yourself,
but you can also help your students learn at all levels of their lives. The true
joy is when you see yourself as an effective and knowledgeable educator.

Wednesday, March 27, 2024, is the continuation of checking the

assessment and all the requirements of my students. Also, I compute and
encode learners' grades. Through this, I realized that there are capacities and
differences when it comes to their studies. There are students who are good at
something, and there are students who are not good at that thing. So it is
necessary that, as an effective teacher, you be knowledgeable enough in
everything to be able to provide more effective strategies for each student's
learning and knowledge growth.

WEEK 10

On Monday, April 1, 2024, I didn't start teaching the first lesson in the 4th
quarter, but I am asking all my students to write on paper the things they are
going through that they have not been able to share with others, even with their
friends and families. After reading all their reflections, I understood more fully
that not all people go through the same thing in life. I also found out the reasons
why students have different attitudes and behaviors in school. Through this, I
appreciated the students more; this is where I got to know the state of life they
have. I was also able to give them advice that gave them hope for their lives.
After that, I received a lot of thank-you messages from my students. That's the
reason why I had more courage to fulfill my responsibilities as a teacher. I am
very thankful to God because he used my life in order for the students to
continue and strive for their dreams. And then I realized that I am not just a
teacher who must impart knowledge among the students; I am also a teacher
who must need to strengthen every learners so that they can continue to strive
for their dreams despite the challenges they are experiencing in life.

On Tuesday, April 2, 2024, I discussed the first lesson in the 4th quarter
about the Ati-Atihan festival. So far, I haven't encountered any problems this
day. As usual, what I encountered every day was the different attitudes of the
students. For me, this was one of the most productive days I had because I saw
the enjoyment and excitement of the learners to learn and adopt new things. As
a future pedagogue, students need to feel and experience the fun and
enjoyment of learning. They need to feel that they all belong in the class.
Because of this method, they will learn more, and their studies will be more
meaningful.

On Wednesday, April 3, 2024, the students have a short quiz. Apart from
the problem with the attitude of the students, I have not faced any other
problems this day. During the whole week of my teaching, all the classes were
smooth, and it helped me reflect on the students, and the students could also
reflect on themselves. This day is also meaningful because my CT observed me
and gave good feedback and some reminders when I was teaching. I realized
that teachers don't know everything.
There are still a lot of things that the teacher doesn't know about that he or she
should learn to become more knowledgeable in the field of teaching. Most
especially, there are a lot of changes in our curriculum. So as a teacher, it is still
necessary to explore and study more things that should be learned and known
so as to continue to be an effective educator in the field of teaching.

On Thursday and Friday, April 4–5, 2024, we don't have class at Daan
Sarile Integrated School due to the exams for Grades 7 and 8 at Mayapyap,
Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija. During this day, we fulfilled our duty at Wesleyan
and did what we had to do for preparation for the topic next week and also for
our final demo teaching. The problem that I encountered this day is that it is so
hard to think of the best motivation and teaching strategies that I will put in my
lesson plan in order to create the most essential and effective learning style
inside the classroom. It is also hard to think of the best instructional materials I
will use that fit the topic I will be teaching. Being a teacher is not easy, but if you
are willing to give all your best and if you are the kind of teacher who is willing
to learn more and loves what you do, I believe that you will be an effective
pedagogue today and as well as in the future.
