naming it 'SESIRAP Popcorn'. We believe that we will be able to attract more customers by

2.2 Company Background

SESIRAP Popcorn is a company that focuses on the production of popcorn snacks that was
started to operated sales around May 2021. We managed to open our stall as a result of the funds
allocated by each member in Shah Alam, Selangor. Our business consists of six people who are
friends from university. The establishment of this popcorn business is because one of them was
drinking 'air sirap' but at the same time wants to eat popcorn because he saw a popcorn ad on
Instagram. Then, he wondered if Malaysia has 'air sirap' flavored popcorn or not. After that, the
others decided to make popcorn red syrup because this flavored is rarely sold and found in any
area now. So, they decided to sell SESIRAP Popcorn to attract Malaysians who like to drink
'air sirap' but at the same time loves to eat popcorn.

These six people agreed to be partnership and open a popcorn business because the
capital funds allocated for this business are not too high. Furthermore, this product is also well-
known and popular among especially children. Other than that, we also specialize in making
the best popcorn suited with the native Malaysian because our main product is red syrup flavor
popcorn. This flavor is well known in Malaysia as 'air sirap' which is a drink, but we want to
try to make it as a snack thus we make it as a flavor to our popcorn. We also do handcraft our
popcorn in small batches, daily and used the finest ingredients sourced from the best stores only.

Nowadays, food delivery is on the rise due largely to health and safety concerns related
to the pandemic. Lockdowns and physical-distancing requirements early on in the pandemic
gave the category an enormous boost. With a surge in demand, food delivery services globally
have now been under the spotlight. Even as the food-delivery ecosystem continues to expand,
its economic structure is still evolving. The global market for food delivery is worth 83 billion
pounds, accounting for 1% of the total food market and 4% of food sold through restaurants and
fast-food chains.

3.2 Note Trends

3.2.1 Environmental and business trends

Environmental trends can affect business. Concerned customers who are very aware of
environmental issues are more likely to buy from businesses that act in an environmentally
friendly way. Businesses are attempting to reduce their carbon footprints by utilizing more
renewable energy sources and developing environmentally friendly products and services. Shop
and their delivery service can achieve these objectives through a variety of approaches. Business
owners can use the solutions that are best suited to their needs and objectives.

11
For SESIRAP Popcorn, we are committed to saving the environment. Some sustainable
practices that we have adopted include reducing single-use plastics. For example, SESIRAP
Popcorn attempt to reduce food waste by monitoring our inventory and making our popcorn
portions 15% less than before. Reduction of inventory can eliminate excess products that can
lead to food waste. in addition, we also strive to tell our customers not to waste and eat our
popcorn to the end by placing a sticker on the front surface of our packaging. if you are no
longer able to eat, make sure to keep it in a closed container and eat it on another day or just
give it to someone else.

3.2.2 Demographics trends

Demographics are a set of characteristics which can be used to predict consumer

products interests or purchasing habits. A variety of demographics might have an impact on a
firm. Most businesses determine their primary customers based on these numerous
characteristics. They then use marketing and discounts to attract individuals who share similar
qualities. Demographics are significant because they provide a broad overview of a population's
many traits. Some of the demographic variables include age, income, geography, household
size, education, occupation, gender, race and employment status. The top demographic
categories for SESIRAP Popcorn are teenager and adult at age 16 to 25 years old. Age appears
to be a factor in how frequently people use online delivery services, as survey results indicated
that younger consumers spend more on prepared foods than older generations. 66% of persons
aged 18 to 25 have used a multi-restaurant delivery website or app service, followed by 20% of
those aged 30 to 44, 9% of those aged 45 to 60, and just 4 % of those aged 60 and more. Aside
from age, our demographic trend focuses on people who rarely have the time to prepare meals
and students who are very busy with the assignment.

3.2.3 Economic trends

An economy is made up of all of the financial transactions between companies and consumers
in a region or country. trend, can be thought of as a pattern. In most contexts, trends are formed
and interpreted from sets of data. Now combining those two words together, we get economic
trend which is an indicator that shows how a region or country is doing financially.

Economic trend is a financial indicator that illustrates how an area or country is doing.
The global rise of e-commerce is being driven by economic growth and increased internet
access. As providers and consumers' spare income rises, electronic payments become more
secure, and the number of the extent of their delivery networks develop, they are increasingly

12
turning to online services. While varying customer tastes and changes in how people spend their
money create trends that drive change in the business, the economy also has inherent effects on
business. Food prices are only one of the expenses that we must control, but the rising costs of
main supplies continue to be a burden for the food business sector. Corn prices remain quite
high as of the date of publication but for the main ingredient, which is syrup, the prices remain
unchanged for the past three years.

3.3 Cultural and governmental influences

Government is the greatest major influencer on our society nowadays since it invests
approximately 2.5 trillion dollars each year, and every dollar has the capability to affect our
culture and behaviour through laws, rules, subsidies, pensions, and tax incentives. For instance,
due to the trend of sickness and uneasiness caused by the continued expansion of Covid-19,
state and local governments mandated temporary closures on restaurants and other non-essential
businesses, dramatically worsened the restaurant economy.

3.4 Key Success Factors in an Industry

Key factors to be successful in the food business is good marketing. Popcorn business is about
convenience, so to be successful a popcorn outlet should be located in a high-traffic area.
Besides, make sure the marketing focuses on customer demographics and their buying
behaviours. Find ways to measure the success of each marketing program. Another key factor
is creating ads to promote the products in local newspapers or commercials for radio and
television. Conveniences such as online ordering and delivery services are extremely popular.

Customers these days are extremely busy, and these choices appeal to individuals who
may not have time to come in for a sit-down lunch. These services can offer an additional profit
source for businesses. Communication among workers is essential for fostering a healthy work
environment, which influences the amount of top-notch customer service your employees can
deliver. Employee work happiness is vital because pleasant, engaged workers always interact
better with consumers.

13
4.0 Description of venture

4.1 Opportunity

SESIRAP Popcorn is a product that offers Malay taste. Although there are many popcorns shop
in Malaysia, but for the syrup flavour is still not made in any popcorn shop. For the record,
Syrup flavour can only be found in drinks. As can be seen, most of popcorn shops in Malaysia
sell caramel, chocolate, vanilla and butterscotch flavoured popcorn. So, we got the idea to make
something new and fresh for our beloved customer. The original and classic taste of popcorn is
good as it is but adding syrup to the mix really does something else to us. The sweet taste from
the syrup balances the well-known taste of popcorn thus making it even tastier.

We only use the finest ingredients to flavour our yummy popcorns. Starting with the
finest corn and transform each kernel into premium popcorn using 100% corn oil and infusions
to create the tastiest ‘Sirap Popcorn’. At SESIRAP Popcorn, we promise to deliver the finest
popping experience at its premium, with a crunchy exterior and a tender interior that brings your
taste buds to heaven! We are helping our customers by delivering a new flavour that are not
being discovered in any popcorn shop. Our food is always cooked with fresh, authentic
ingredients in fast and easy ways so buyers will always get maximum value for it.

Besides that, the key issue we aim to address is delivering this food to other races which
is Chinese and Indian. We want them to taste the delicious flavour of the syrup which is well
known among the Malays. On top of that, we also offer a delivery service by partnering up with
online delivery platform such as Grabfood and Foodpanda.

The company's value proposition is that we will ensure the authenticity of the taste of
the syrup made from the pandan leaves mixed with popcorn so that it brings a great taste.
SESIRAP Popcorn will become successful because among all the popcorn products from
around the world, none have truly the unique flavoured as us has. Furthermore, the uniqueness
of our business will pique curiosity and it will certainly attract people to try out new things. In
addition, the crunchiness of our popcorn and the quality of our dishes are what differentiate this
business from our competition in the market, including the well-known popcorn shops in
Malaysia namely Popcorn Letup HQ, Supremeo Popcorn and Crunchy Sweet Popcorn.

In addition, creating demand for a company’s products requires more than just
introducing them to the market. SESIRAP Popcorn has conducted some research to determine
what customers demand and want because businesses successfully tailor their products to the
needs of their buyers. The main location of SESIRAP Popcorn is in Selangor which is the heart

14
of the food industry in Malaysia. Therefore, this location will increase the demand for our

Table 9: Competitors Analysis

5.5.2 Discussion About Competitors

Sesirap Popcorn analysed their rivals based on a variety of characteristics and identified three
major competitors. Popcorn Letup HQ is this company's main competitor. This is due to the fact
that these businesses give their customer a lower price than the competition. This firm has also
been in this industry for a longer period of time than any of the others. This is their greatest
advantage in gaining customers, as the price of the items is generally the first factor that
influences customers. As for flaws, this company's packaging is less convincing because it does
not have the company's address. We also presume that they employ low-quality ingredients in
the production of their product in order to offer it at a lower price than the market.

The strength of Supremeo Popcorn is that they have a large number of devoted
customers. This is seen by their constant sales year after year. This is also supported by many
peoples, which frequently state that they purchase certain items on a regular basis. This is
supported by studies we conducted to analyse our competition. This brand is more expensive
than the others product of popcorn due to its flavours. This results in fewer new customers since
the high price makes them hesitant to buy the items because its worth for buy the product from
there.

Finally, there's Crunchy Sweet Popcorn. This company's strength is that they have a big
packaging and good ingredient. As a result, we can assure that their products are good and

20

5.7 Marketing Strategy

Marketing strategy is the most important factor in influencing sales revenues and consumer
approval of our items. A marketing strategy is a plan of action designed to promote and sell our
product as well as a path to long-term objectives. As a result, a marketing strategy is a crucial
part of a company's overall business strategy since it helps the company obtain an edge by
differentiating its products.

In the marketing strategy, the marketing mix, often known as the 4Ps, is made up of four
components. All these four marketing tactics will be used by SESIRAP Popcorn:

a) Product
SESIRAP Popcorn is a company that sells popcorn as its main product. There is only
one unique flavour in this product, which is syrup. We get our syrup flavours from a
mall that sells a variety of syrup flavours. Our product's components include popcorn
and the greatest syrup flavour. Then we'll package it as well as the other products.

b) Price
SESIRAP Popcorn will strive to provide a premium product at a premium pricing that
meets or exceeds our customers' expectations. In comparison to our competition, we

23
chose to adopt a pricing approach to win over clients. Finally, our consumers will
receive a low-cost, high-quality product, and it will be a win-win scenario for both of
us.
The sales price: Sesirap Popcorn- RM 20 (include GST)

c) Place
For this sort of company, location is crucial. The most significant factors, according to
experts, that is placement since it is a variable that cannot be modified. Desa Alam,
41050 Shah Alam, Selangor has been picked as the location for our firm. Furthermore,
we regard our location as essential because this place is one of the most well-known
structures in Shah Alam. Our facility is also easy to find because it is next to a famous
brand such as Lily Petuna and Tarbiah Sentap, which is a popular destination for visitors.
selected this area based on a number of factors, including transit, infrastructure, distance,
and the important factor is environment

d) Promotion
SESIRAP Popcorn has promised to promote the event by placing advertisements on all
of its social media platforms. SESIRAP Popcorn uses a business card and a booklet to
market their business in addition to social media advertising. These are used to keep
clients informed about the company's current promotion. We can easily contact with
clients that reside far away from our main location by using the social media platform.
Social media plays an important role in getting the word out to individuals all over the
world. We also put a signboard to guarantee that our business is seen from far.

5.7.1 Websites Marketing Strategy

Our major goal with our online presence is to provide as much permanence as possible. Because
we have a website, we can constantly keep our clients informed whether we have a promotion
or establish a booth at a different location, such as a campus or another location. As the number
of individuals visiting our websites grows every day, it helps us a lot in attracting new
consumers. This shows that our online strategy is successful in boosting the number of buyers.

6.0 Operational / Production Plan

6.1 Introduction

One of the most crucial aspects to consider in a corporation is the operating strategy. We must
guarantee that our company meets the expectations of our customers, which include
manufacturing factors such as quality, quantity, and time management. As a result, it is critical
to guarantee that the company can produce and provide the services that were intended in the
marketing strategy.

6.2 Operational Objective

i. To attain uniformity and stability in production and supply. When we establish

consistency and stability, the level of production and services in our firm will rise,
resulting in a better outcome.
ii. Ensuring that the business operation system operates smoothly in order to preserve the
quality of the products and services provided to customers. Our consumers will be more
than delighted if our business functions well since it will increase the demand for our
goods.
iii. To guarantee that the quality of our products and services meets the defined criteria. The
goal is to guarantee that the products we give match the requirements and the demands
of the customers.

sessions should also be focused on the future.

2. Embrace continuous innovation

Innovative opportunities at a factory may take many forms, ranging from new menu concepts

7.0 Organizational Plan

The organizational plan is a component of the business plan that specifies the enterprise's
ownership structure. It describes in detail who has what sort of power in the organization and
how each member of the enterprise interacts with others while carrying out their managerial
tasks. Organizational planning is also the process of establishing a company's reason for being,
formulating goals targeted at reaching maximum potential and designing increasingly discrete
tasks to fulfil those goals. Each step of planning is a subset of the previous one, with strategic
planning being the most important. A proper organizational plan comprises four stages:
strategic, tactical, operational, and contingency. Each step of planning is a subset of the previous
one, with strategic planning being the most important.
