Tito’s Promise

Once upon a time, there was a park. In that

park there was a small little pond. In that pond
lived Tito the tadpole. Tito the tadpole, would
swim and play with his friends all day long.
Just next to that pond, there was a tall tree
and on that tree there were some big branches.
The branches were so big and heavy, so they
would almost touch the pond water. On that
tree, lived the most beautiful and greenish
caterpillar named Katty.
Katty would spend all day chomping on
the sweet leaves of the tree. One day, while
she was busy eating her leaves, she suddenly
noticed Tito, the tadpole was staring at her.
“Wow, you are so beautiful. Just like shiny
green grapes. Katty felt so shy and replied
“You're beautiful too, just like a shiny black
pearl.”
Both of them decided to become good
friends forever. Katty said “promise me, you
will never change.” “I promise I will never
change” promised Tito. But as the season
change, Tito could not keep his promise of not
changing. Tito had grown two legs.
When Katty saw him with the two ugly
legs, she said, “Awww.. you broke your
promise. You promised me, you will never
change. “Oh I apologize to you Katty. It's not
my fault. I couldn't help it. I don't know how
do they grow, said Tito. “Oh, all I want is my
shiny black pearl,” said Katty sadly. But
finally, Katty decided to forgive Tito and they
became friends again.
They made the same promise again. The
season changed and again Tito could not keep
his promise. This time, Tito had grown a pair
of arms and his tail had shortened. When
Katty saw Tito, she was aghast. “You broke
your promise again. I can't take it anymore.
This time I won't forgive you. You broke my
heart, she said.
“Oh no but you're my pretty green grapes”
said Tito. “Yes, but you're not my shiny black
pearl anymore. Good bye”, by saying that
Katty left that place.
She cried and cried. She cried for days.
She tried to close her eyes and sleep so that,
she could forget what Tito had done to her.
Finally, she fell asleep. She slept for a very
long time. By then, Tito had dropped his tail
and he had turned into a full-fledged frog.
“ribbit ribbit”.
One fine day, Katty decided to wake up.
The season had changed. The trees around her
had changed. The weather had changed too
but what hadn't changed was her love for Tito.
So she decided to forgive him again. She
wanted to go out to the pond, find her shiny
black pearl and be friends again with him. So,
she opened her eyes.
When she looked around, she realised that
she was stuck inside a small black cave. She
struggled to get out but she felt very difficult.
But, finally she managed to get out of that
black cave. She felt completely wet. When she
turned around, to look at herself, she realised
that she had grown a pair of wings and turned
into a beautiful butterfly.
She flew to the pond and started to look
for her shiny black pearl but she just couldn’t
find him anywhere. Then, she saw a strange
green creature was sitting on a lily pad. So,
she decided to go to him and ask him where
his shiny black pearl is.
“Excuse me, I am looking for a shiny
black … but before she could even utter the
word ‘pearl’ the frog leapt up from the lily pad
and swallowed the butterfly in one gulp.
“eupp’ and that was the end of Tito and
Katty’s love story.
Kito kept sitting there thinking fondly
about his beautiful green grapes which he had
just swallowed for lunch, wondering where
she went.
From this story, we can learn the life cycle
of a frog and a butterfly. We learnt how a
tadpole turned into a frog and how a
caterpillar turned into a butterfly. Hope you
