Introduction
Boster Engineering Sdn Bhd started as an inspection sub-contractor which is
headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Over the years, Boster has expanded the scope of
services provided, in meeting the varies clients’ needs and expectations in today competitive
market of Oil and Gas, as well as Heavy Engineering industry.

Boster offers multi-disciplined services to its clients in providing full range of NDT
inspections and all types of manpower. Not forgetting our passion in ensuring and providing
a safe working environment in the offshore oil and gas industry, Boster is a certified training
provider and centre in rope access techniques which was developed by The Industrial Rope
Access Trade Association (IRATA).

Our Training Centre (IRATA)

What is IRATA?
The Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA) is a membership organisation with
global reach. It was formed in the UK in the late 1980’s, to solve maintenance problems in
the offshore oil and gas industry.

Its formation was the result of an initiative of a number of

leading companies who had begun to use industrial rope
access techniques, to provide a safe working environment
for the industry.

The rope access technique developed by IRATA has now

come to be used in a wide range of repair, maintenance,
inspection and access work. Since it provides an
unrivalled safety record, a quick set-up and dismantling
time, positive environmental benefits and no need for
invasive access equipment or disruption of the site, the
IRATA system of rope access continues to enjoy increasing
popularity throughout the world.

IRATA is now recognised as the world’s leading authority

on industrial rope access. IRATA is established as the
world’s leading authority on industrial rope access
techniques.

The Association’s aim in international promotion and development of a safe system of

working on ropes that it has pioneered for over 25 years.
IRATA Training Services
The Industrial Rope Access Trade Association - IRATA - is
the only internationally recognised certification scheme
for industrial rope access. Boster Engineering Sdn Bhd
has been appointed as one of the IRATA training provider
in this region. The training certification scheme, grading
structure and procedure is based on the guideline and
the requirement of IRATA.

The training is carried out by our highly qualified

instructors/trainers who work as both trainers and
operational technicians gaining experience in all aspects
of the industry. There are 3 technical level as following:-

Level 1
In this level, a rope access technician is able to perform a
specific range of rope access tasks under the supervision
of a Level 3 Instructor.

Level 2
An experienced rope access technician with the skills
of Level 1 will manage a more complex rigging, rescue
and rope access skills, under the supervision of a Level
3 Instructor.

Level 3
Level 3 rope access technician is in total responsible for
the rope safety in work projects. He requires the skills
and knowledge of Level 1 & 2 and of course, able to
demonstrate it. He also must be skilful in relevant work
techniques and legislation; has an extensive knowledge
of advanced rigging and rescue techniques; holds an
appropriate and current first aid certificate, IRATA
training, assessment and certification scheme.

Who Will Benefit?

An IRATA qualification is designed to
enable qualified industrial tradesmen
to access their normal tasks in a safe,
efficient and low impact way. Common
trades on the ropes include: NDT,
inspection, electrical, rigging and
painting.
