UPDATED INFORMATION ON QUIZ 1

Please read the following updated information on Quiz 1 of ILW1501 very carefully:

INFORMATION ABOUT QUIZ 1

► QUIZ 1: Quiz 1 will deal with Learning Units 1 to 6 of the “Only Study Guide for
ILW1501” and their lessons on the ILW1501-22-S1 module site under myModules on
myUnisa.

► TOTAL MARKS: Quiz 1 counts a total of 10 marks. It is a formal assessment opportunity


that counts 10% of your final mark.

► NUMBER OF QUESTIONS: Quiz 1 contains TEN multiple-choice questions (MCQs). These


MCQs are similar to the MCQs that you had to answer for Lessons 1-6. Answer ALL questions.

Very important:

Study and follow the guidelines on understanding and answering MCQs as explained in
"Introduction (Part 2): Understanding and answering of MCQs" under Lessons on the ILW1501-
22-S1 module site when answering the MCQs of the quiz.

► READ EACH QUESTION AND THE OPTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE attempting the
question.

► FEEDBACK: You will receive the mark for your attempt AFTER completing a successful
attempt. All other feedback on the quiz, and the opportunity to review your answers, will be
provided after the quiz closes, in other words, AFTER 29 March 2022. NB: This closing date
will change. Look out for an announcement in this regard.

WORKING TOGETHER WITH A FRIEND OR FRIENDS WHEN COMPLETING THE QUIZ IS


REGARDED AS CHEATING AND AS A SERIOUS OFFENSE IN TERMS OF UNISA POLICY.
THE UNIVERSITY MAY TAKE FURTHER ACTION IF YOU MAKE YOURSELF GUILTY OF
CHEATING.

ADMINISTRATIVE INFORMATION

1. DATES AND TIMES OF QUIZ 1

► Quiz 1 OPENENED on Saturday, 19 March at 10:15 and will CLOSE on Tuesday, 29 March
2022 at 18:00. NB: This closing date will change. Look out for an announcement in this
regard.

• You will NOW be able to see Quiz 1 on the ILW1501-22-S1 module site under
myModules You will also see Quiz 2 without any questions.

• You will ONLY be able to attempt the quiz UNTIL Tuesday, 29 March 2022 at 18:00.
NB: This closing date will change. Look out for an announcement in this regard.

• You will NOT be able to submit any answers AFTER 18:00 on Tuesday, 29 March
2022. NB: This closing date will change. Look out for an announcement in this regard.

2. NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS ALLOWED

► You are allowed ONLY THREE (3) attempts for Quiz 1. Please note that the purpose of
having three (3) attempts is to accommodate students who may experience technical
challenges.

►If you are able to submit more than one attempt successfully, the HIGHEST mark of your
attempts will be recorded as your FINAL mark for Quiz 1.

3. ONE SESSION OF 2 HOURS (120 MINUTES) AVAILABLE FOR AN ATTEMPT

► EACH attempt MUST BE COMPLETED in ONE SESSION. The length of EACH SESSION is
two (2) hours ONLY.

► You CANNOT PAUSE / STOP the TIMER. You MUST COMPLETE the attempt in ONE
SITTING BEFORE the TIMER runs out. This will serve as preparation for your two-hour,
closed book, timed online MCQ examination at the end of the semester.

4. HOW TO ANSWER MCQs FOR QUIZ 1

► Before starting Quiz 1, CLOSE ANY OPEN APPLICATIONS SUCH AS YOUR E-MAIL and
WHATSAPP APPLICATIONS on your laptop, tablet or mobile device. This will avoid
unwanted interference between various applications. If other applications are open or
notifications come through, you will not be able to move to the next question.

► HOW TO START THE QUIZ? Click on the “Attempt Quiz” button. Read the instructions
that follow very carefully.

► ANSWERS: Each MCQ will appear on a new page. Note that the options are not
marked. You must click on the button next to the option that you choose as your answer
to the question. You MUST SELECT an answer BEFORE PROCEEDING to the NEXT
QUESTION. Once you have made your selection, click on the “Next Page” button to proceed.

► MCQS WILL BE SEQUENTIAL OR LINEAR. This means that you will not be able to go back
to a previous MCQ.

► RANDOMISATION: The system will randomise (shuffle) the MCQs and their options,
meaning each student will receive a unique set of questions for each attempt.

► SUBMISSION: You must complete the attempt and submit your answers BEFORE the
TIMER runs out.

Very Important:

When you are finished, click the "Finish Attempt" button then scroll down and click the
"Submit all and Finish" button. If you do not click both these buttons, your answers will NOT
be saved, and you will receive zero marks for your attempt. If you do not finish your attempt,
you will also not be able to start another attempt in the case that something went wrong.

► No submission of an honesty declaration is required for this quiz.
