MANILA, Philippines — Nagbabala ang Philippine Athmospheric Geophysical

Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) na mas titindi pa ang nararanasang

init sa bansa ngayong Abril.

Sinabi ni PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina na unang araw pa lamang ng Abril 1
ay bumungad na ang ‘danger level ‘ heat index sa ilang lalawigan dahilan para
magsuspinde na ng klase ang ilang paaralan.

Sa heat index forecast ng PAGASA, nitong Lunes ay posibleng umabot sa 43°C ang init
sa dalawang lugar sa bansa kabilang ang Aparri, Cagayan at Catarman sa Northern
Samar.

May dalawang lugar din ang tatamaan ng hanggang 42°C heat index kabilang ang Pili
sa Camarines Sur, at Zamboanga City.

Dito naman sa Metro Manila, posibleng umabot din sa hanggang 40°C ang alinsangan
na pasok na rin sa ‘extreme caution’.

Ayon sa PAGASA, kapag umabot na sa ‘danger level’ ang heat index, posibleng mauwi
sa heat cramps at heat exhaustion ang matagal na exposure sa araw ng isang
indibidwal.

Nagbabala rin ang PAGASA sa exhaustion o sobrang fatigue, matinding pagpapawis,

pagkahilo, panghihina ng katawan na may mabilis na tibok ng pulso, pagkahilo at
pagsusuka.

Pinapayuhan din ang publiko na hangga’t maari ay iwasan ang paglabas ng bahay,
uminom ng maraming tubig, iwasan na muna ang pag-inom ng soda, kape, tea at
maging ng alak. Kung hindi maiiwasan at lalabas ng bahay ay magdala ng payong,
sombrero at iba pang proteksiyon sa matinding init ng panahon.

Sa pinakahuling heat index bulletin ng state weather bureau na PAGASA, nabatid na

apat na lugar sa bansa ang kasalukuyang nakakapagtala ng labis na init ng panahon na
nasa 42 hanggang 51 degrees Celcius, na ikinukonsidera nang mapanganib o nasa
ilalim ng “danger” classification.

MANILA, Philippines — Hundreds of schools in the Philippines, including dozens in the
capital Manila, suspended in-person classes on Tuesday due to dangerous levels of
heat, education officials said.

The country's heat index measures what a temperature feels like, taking into account humidity.

The index was expected to reach the "danger" level of 42 degrees Celsius in Manila on Tuesday
and 43C on Wednesday, with similar levels in a dozen other areas of the country, the state
weather forecaster said.

The actual highest temperature forecast for the metropolis on Tuesday was 34C.

Primary and secondary schools in Quezon, the most populous part of the city, were
ordered to shut while schools in other areas were given the option by local officials to
shift to remote learning.

Some schools in Manila shortened class hours to avoid the hottest part of the day.

A heat index of 42-51C can cause heat cramps and heat exhaustion, with heat stroke
"probable with continued exposure", the weather forecaster said in an advisory.

Heat cramps and heat exhaustion are also possible at 33-41C, according to the
forecaster.

Local officials in several areas of the southern island of Mindanao also suspended in-
person classes or shortened school hours over two weeks, regional education
department spokeswoman Rea Halique told AFP.

The orders affected hundreds of schools in the provinces of Cotabato, South Cotabato
and Sultan Kudarat, as well as the cities of Cotabato, General Santos and Koronadal,
Halique said.

Cotabato city experienced the highest heat index in Mindanao, reaching 42C on
Monday and Tuesday, the state forecaster reported.

Bernardo's recent 28th beach birthday party, he sang a duet about a love that came at
the wrong time.

In a video that circulated online, Alden is seen singing the love song "Bakit Ngayon Ka
Lang" with Kakai Bautista. At the end of their duet, the bedimpled actor said, "Panis.
Happy birthday, Kath! Hindi ko ginagawa ‘to, putek!"

The camera then panned to Kathryn who was smiling at their duet.

Alden was among the guests of Kathryn's star-studded birthday party aboard a yacht in
Palawan. The actress turned 28 last March 26.

Kathryn was reunited with Alden and their "Hello, Love Goodbye" co-stars Kakai, Lovely
Abella and Maymay Entrata.
