Year 5 Weekly Newsletter

Week 6 T2.2 12th April, 2024

Dear Parents,

We had a very productive ‘3-working-day’ week! Children had fun with Maths,
English, Art, Geography and Science! Students have done some amazing pieces of
artwork including flowers on black paper and also perspective art!

Important: 1) Please buy tickets for the fundraising show, ‘The Wizard of Oz’
by Years 3 and 4 students – available with the Cashier at Birr 300. Limited
seats! Hurry!

2) Enjoy the Sandford ‘Fete’ on Saturday, 13th April starting at 10 am!

Come one come all!! We look forward to seeing you all!

Next Week, students will be:

English:
continuing our work on ‘Narratives’ and
focusing on the Build Up and Setting of the
Narrative. Children will learn in detail how
to make a setting more interesting and how
to gradually build up to the climax of their
story.
Maths:
Working on interpreting information tables
including two-way tables focusing on timings
and schedules used in transportation etc.
Toward the end of the week, students will be
assessed.

Geography:
Continuing our topic ‘Climate and Weather’,
we will focus on each of the 6 Biomes on
Earth, including the reasons why the flora and
fauna of one biome are different from those of
the other.
Science:
Learning in detail about solubility and
dissolving. Students will be involved in
experiments on the topic with a focus on
solvent, solute and solution.
