question below.
C. Developmental Activities:
1. Presentation:
The teacher presents how to get for the volume of cylinder.
Ask what shape is present in the cylinder.

In the previous lesson we already find out that in solving for the area of circle we
use the formula πr2.
Finding the volume of the cylinder is similar in finding the volume of other prism.
Since cylinder has circular bases we will still use the formula πr2 to get our base
but since we are looking for the volume there should be one other part that we
need to multiply to get the volume and that is the height.
In other words to get the volume of the cylinder we can use the formula
V= b x h where b stands for the area of its base. Or we can modify it to.
V = πr2 x h
The teacher presents a problem:
Find the volume of the mug at the right 6 cm
12cm
Solution:
V = πr2 x h
= 3.14 x (6cm)2 x12 cm
= 3.14 x 36cm2 x 12cm
= 1356.48 cm3
Thus, the volume of the mug is 1356.48 cm3
The teacher explains that like rectangular prism and pyramid, cylinder and cones
have the same feature since in one cylinder there are 3 cones that can fit.
Provided that they have the same base and height.
In other words to look for the volume of the cone we can simply use the formula
V = πr2 x h ÷ 3
The teacher set example on how to solve for the area of a cone.
Claire a grade 6 student was ask by her mother to buy a 1 can of milk for his
baby brother. The can of the milk she bought has a cylinder shape. Out of laire’s
curiosity she measure the can and finds out that the radius of the base of the can
measures exactly 2 in and its height measures 4 in. Find the volume of the can of
milk Claire bought.
Analysis:
The teacher asks the pupils:
1. How did you find the activity?
2. How where you able to find the volume of the solid figures?
3. Summarizing the lesson:
In finding the volume of every solid figures always look for its formula:
Formula for finding the volume of the cylinder: V = πr2 x h
Cone: V = πr2 x h
3
Always Complete the answer.
D. Application :
The teacher tells the pupils to find a pair and asks them to solve problems
involving the volume of the cylinder and cone.
1. Find the volume of the cylinder with a 3cm radius on its base and 5 cm height.

2. Find the volume of a cone with a 3cm radius on its base and 5 cm height.
IV. Evaluation:
The teacher asks the pupils to get 1 whole sheet of paper in answer the following
questions individually.
1. What is the formula in finding the volume of the pyramid?
2. What is the formula in finding the volume of the rectangular prism?
3. What is the value of π?
a. 3.14 b. 3.15 c. 3.16 d. 3.17
4. What is the volume of the cylinder having 1cm radius on its base and 2cm in
height.
a. 6.28m3 b. 6. 28 cm3 c. 3.14 m3 d. 3.14 cm3
b. What is the volume of the cone having 1cm radius on its base and 2cm in
height.
a. 2.093cm3 b. 2.093 cm 2 d. 2.093 m2 d. 2.093 m3
