Gedung Juang 45 Tambun

as a Heritage Building
Bekasi, which is nicknamed the city of patriots, certainly has a long history of
independence struggle. On the other hand, the story of this patriot city certainly has relics that have
a lot of stories behind them. One of the relics that we can see physically is the Gedung Juang 45
Tambun. Gedung Juang 45 Tambun or what is now also known as the Bekasi Museum, is located
on Jalan Sultan Hasanudin, Mekarsari, Tambun Sel. sub-district, Bekasi Regency, West Java. This
building has an area of 13,900 m2 and the building area of the Juang 45 Tambun Building reaches
1,177m2 with a strategic location because it is close to the Tambun KRL Station, toll gate, and also
the Tambun main market. The Juang 45 Tambun Building area is composed of a pavilium building
that is used as a service support building, there is also a Plaza for outdoor activities, and is equipped
with a pond that displays a map of Bekasi Regency, decorated with lights that are lit at night.

The construction of the Gedung Juang is divided into 2 stages, the first stage of
construction began in 1906 and was completed in 1910 in the form of the front yard of the building,
then the second stage in 1925 was better known as Gedung Tinggi, used as a place of defense by
freedom fighters. Then after the independence period, the Juang Building was changed several
times, starting from 1950, it was used by the Bekasi Regency Public Works Office led by Mr. Moh.
R. Soemarto. Then in 1951-1952 it was used by the Army Battalion "Kian Santang", and the Army
Battalion "Kala Hitam" as its headquarters. In 1960 - 1965 it was used as a lecture hall for students
of the Village Development Academic. After that, Gedung Juang or what was known as Gedung
Tinggi at that time was converted into a temporary shelter for
political prisoners for PKI members, during the major events
of the G30S/PKI, the Bekasi Veterans Legium Office and the
Bekasi Regency BP-7 Office, the Office of the Manpower and
Environmental Service, and the Bekasi Regency Regional
Election Commission office. During the Modern Period 1999,
this building was used as the election secretariat office and the
Hygiene and Parks Office, as well as the Fire Department.
Continuing to 2020 Gedung Juang was revitalized in
buildings, outer courtyards, stages and parks. It was only in Picture 1 Gedung Juang 2015 https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-
2021 that the Gedung Juang was designated as the Juang 45 EMNhkPh4BY4/VlQ21m1MJjI/AAAAAAAAB9I/FmQyoPC14

revitalization again in 2020, as in 2015 Gedung Juang was more
recognized by the general public as a haunted building or
building. Many TV stations even come to this building to carry
out filming activities about mystical things in this building,
because of the condition of Gedung Juang, which was even
infested by bats. In spite of this, it is said that Gedung Juang 45

discussion, the Head of the Bekasi Regency Culture, Youth and Sports Office wanted to strive for
the return of the historical aspects that should be attached to this building, so it was officially
announced that the revitalization of the Juang 45 Building would be completed and officially
established as the Bekasi People's Struggle Museum at the end of 2020. He said that the revamping
of this historic building adapts the application of digitalization-based technology as a more
interactive delivery method, so that Bekasi youth are interested in learning history. This
revitalization does not change the shape of the building, but the historical value while beautifying
the cultural heritage building.

Gedung Juang 45 Tambun should get

revitalization and proper maintenance because
the existence of this building is very important for
the history of Indonesia's independence struggle.
If the Gedung Juang 45 Tambun is left abandoned
and unmaintained, people today will easily forget
the struggle of the Indonesian people in the city
of Bekasi. Bekasi City, which is nicknamed the
Patriot City, will also lose one of the proofs that
this city used to have a big role in the struggle for
independence from the Dutch and Japanese

Juang 45 Tambun Building now plays a big role as a cultural heritage building with original
ornaments, and also as the main attraction for tourists or visitors in the Tambun area. Especially
now that the Juang 45 Tambun Building has been converted into a museum. This museum contains
photographs of Bekasi history from before the colonial period to the independence period. Inside
there is also a digital digital room about the history of the building and also its role from year to
year. In addition, there is also a history of the Tarumanegara Kingdom that once existed in Bekasi.
There is also a three-dimensional room where visitors can watch videos of the Bekasi people's
struggle against colonialism. Then there are also various historical educational games in the form
of three dimensions.

The digital-based museum contained in a colonial-style building is very interesting to be

visited by young children and even the elderly, to learn about the history of Indonesia's struggle
for independence from the Dutch and Japanese colonization, as well as to see the development of
technology because this museum is digital-based. The area around the Juang 45 Tambun Building
also presents many interesting attractions, ranging from the building park itself, live music, to the
cafe located on the right side of this building, making people even more interested in visiting this
Bekasi Museum.
