First, the cane trimmer must be placed on the tractor facing the machine's anchoring piece to
the tractor's coupling. Then, place the tightening bars and couple all the set.
Once the machine is positioned and anchored, place the tractor driver's controls in the right
position so that he/she can manoeuvre and handle the machine easily.
Finally, adjust the positioning to start the cut in the field. Specifically, the adjustments to be
made are the following:
Once all these adjustments have been made the pruning works may start.
The following sections of this manual detail the operation, description and ways to adjust the
machine.
4.- DESCRIPTION.
The machine has a central body where the cutting modules and arms are coupled. It has
been designed to withstand the stresses and strains foreseen during the working stage.
Tightening
bars
Front anchoring
plate
Each of these bars is activated through a hydraulic motor which activates a throw bar that
performs the fluctuation movement of the cutting blades. The cutting bars have blades and counter
blades. The branch or sprout is cut when pressed between the blade and the counter-blade.

Vertical Bar
Hydraulic Motor
All the modules or bars have an shock proof system to absorb the vibrations and knocks
during the work stages, either through a cylinder or gas shock-absorber on the vertical arms or
springs on the horizontal arms.
Both cutting modules can be adjusted independently, that is, the cut does not have to be
symmetrical on both sides of the line of work. This makes the machine highly versatile notably
differentiating it from other machines available in the market. The Cane trimmer has the following
adjustments:

cylinder.
Fixing screw
To adjust the inclination of the bars there is an articulation formed by a metallic welded
container with a semicircular guide in the centre.
Semi-circular
guide
Screws
The inclination of the bars is adjusted by loosening the screws that hold the bars to the
containers.
The angle of incidence is chosen according to the type of work to be performed. The greater
the opening of the angle, a more general cut of the sprouts (small and large sprouts) and the
greater the advance speed.

Width Adjustment
The position of the cutting bars may be adjusted to the width of the working line. A telescopic
metallic guide has been provided for such on each side.

This is performed by means of the regulator located near the group of electro valves installed.
It must be taken into consideration that when choosing the speed of the cuts, an excessive
speed generally leads to excessive wear or to a poor job.
Therefore, several working position may be achieved depending on the adjustments made
on the Cane trimmer. Some examples are shown on the following figures.
To facilitate storing the machine when not being used, it includes a support stand for storage.
This stand must be inserted in the lower part of the frame.
Its shape allows moving the machine
with a standard forklift or
to install wheels to move it
easily.

While the machine is in normal operation nobody should remain close to it except for the driver
of the tractor.
The operators that are going to operate the machine must be professional qualified staff and
use personal protective equipment suitable to the type of operation they are going to perform on
the machine.
The whole machine is transported on one single module duly loaded and secured to prevent it
from moving during the journey.
Upon receiving the machine, make sure it has not undergone any damage during transport.
Check the supply corresponds with the order specifications. In the event of finding damages or
missing parts, immediately inform in detail the carrier and the manufacturer.
-In the case of handling or downloading the machine with a forklift insert the
“fork” through the lower part of the support stand.
Place the machine as close to where it is going to be installed as possible to avoid possible
dangers when downloading.
It is advisable to entrust these operations to expert staff (forklift and crane operators, etc.) and
place another person on the ground to provide the indications necessary in the case the load
reduces the visibility.
Carry out an attentive preventive control in search of possible dangers, as well as of waste
material that may have entered by accident the manual controls or in the areas involved in the
operation.
In the case of including packaging for transport, the addressee is in charge of its disposal, who
must do so according to the regulations in force in its country.
The coupling between the machine and the tractor is made through the frontal anchoring
plate located on the frame. This piece couples to the tractor using the housings that tractors
usually have in their front part to place the counterweights and it must be performed so that it
is placed at an approximate height of 620 mm from the centre of such to the ground and
making sure it is firmly fixed.
Plate
Pins
Once the tractor is prepared with the anchoring plate and housing of the tightening bars
described, the machine must be coupled by means of the four screws and two guide rods and
the screws of the aforementioned tightening bars.
Proceed to the installation of the controls in the tractor's cab. To do so place the console in an
easily handling position and then make the connections to the electric supply in one of the
tractor's sockets intended for such purpose or directly on the tractor's battery (brown terminal
is + and blue terminal is -)
Step 5: Adjustments
Carry out the adjustments appropriate to the type of work and farm. See adjustment
description section.
Daily check the good operation of all the switches, emergency stops and safety devices.
Do not operate for any reason on the mobile parts to prevent blockages of any type or origin.
In the event of any risk situation stop the machine.
8.- MAINTENANCE.
As user and/or owner, you must perform several maintenance tasks such as lubrication,
cleaning and replacement of simple worn parts. For other more complex tasks you must address
an official dealer or authorised technical service.
8.1. Lubrication.
-THE CUTTING BARS have some lubrication nipples inserted on their rear side to keep the
cutting blades lubricated. It is recommended to LUBRICATE EVERY 4 HOURS.
-THE SLIDES TO “WIDEN AND NARROW” the cutting modules have inserted 2 lubrication
nipples to keep the interior lubricated, although it is recommended to also keep lubricated (with a
brush) the black tubes. LUBRICATE EVERY 8 HOURS.

8.2. Cleaning.
-THE BLADES AND COUNTER BLADES will extend its useful life and will maintain its high
cutting quality if you regularly keep the surface clean from solid waste or sticky material.
-THE HYDRAULIC CIRCUIT may on some occasions sweat or leak oil after the first hours
of operation. It is therefore convenient to check and tighten the connections. Then it can be
washed with pressurised water without danger of it deteriorating.
For an overall cleaning of the cane trimmer with a pressurised water machine we advise you cover
the orifices where the entry of water may be dangerous such as electronic consoles or bearings
and make sure you do not point the water hose straight to these points.
It is advisable to thoroughly clean the machine and then lubricate it well before storing it for a long
period of inactivity.
To replace the deteriorated blades and/or counter blades for new ones you must dismantle
the cutting bar as follows:
1.- Remove the fairing from the header of the cutting bar by removing the 3 screws that
hold it (use Allen wrench nº 5).Figure 19
2.- Remove the 4 screws that join the main guide to the header (use Allen wrench nº 6) and
slide it outwards approximately 15 cm. Figure 20
3.- Use a resistant plastic bridle to fix the 2 cams between its thinnest part and end by
sliding the main guide until removing it completely. Figure 21
4.- Replace the deteriorated blades and counter blades for new ones using new screws (
M6-9, Din 7991, 10,9) (Use Allen wrench nº5 and screw fixing glue). Figure 22
5.- Mount the cutting bar again following the procedure described in the previous steps in
the opposite direction.

Fig.21 Fig. 22
The gas shock-absorber keeps the vertical cutting bar under pressure to keep it lifted and
also serves as shock proof to prevent breakages due to possible crashes of the lower part of the
bar against the floor. When it loses its gas load
and does not perform its function accordingly, Upper
Screw
it must be changed. To do so loosen
the upper screw shown on figure 23 until releasing
the pressure that the gas shock absorber can
still accumulate. Then you can
remove the two screws that hold
the shock absorber and replace it for a
Rod
new one being careful not to scratch
or bang the most delicate part of the new

shock absorber, that is the rod.
Figure 23: Gas shock-absorber.
The machine has incorporated some nylon guides on the machine's elevation and
extension slides which have the function of smoothing the movements and adjusting the gaps
between the telescopic tubes.
Regularly check if there are gaps and remove them by tightening the adjustment screws of
the nylon guides until the sliding bar is blocked and then loosen the screw ¼ of a turn to unblock
it, thereby achieving a perfect adjustment.
Adjustement
Screws screws
If an unbalance is seen between the right and left side extensions proceed to correct it in
the following way:
1. Loosen the upper screw of the purge valve with a wrench num. 14. Figure 26
2. Activate the control of the extensions two or three times (widen and narrow). In the
maximum opening position and while insisting with the control even when it has reached
the maximum extension, tighten the valve screw again (Figure 26).
Purging
valve
Figure 26
The machine does not emit a significant noise into the atmosphere. The main noise
takes place when the cutting blades enter into contact with the canes or branches.
9.2.- Lighting.
The place where the machine is to be installed must be illuminated so that the
control panel and the work area can be easily distinguished. For the ordinary
maintenance it is required for the lighting to allow performing the operations
necessary with total safety.
The lighting where the machine is installed must comply with that set forth in Royal Decree
486/1997, in particular in its Annex IV “Lighting in Work area”, for machines installed in Spain. For
other countries take into consideration the existing legislation in this field.
Most mobile and sharp parts have been secured with protections. Fixed fairing protections
have been provided in the parts where there are risks. These protections must never be removed
from their original location, except for maintenance operations. There is another type of mobile
protections that must be removed only when the machine is in operation.
The machine has standardised signage to indicate residual risk that must be kept in perfect
condition, on the contrary they must be replaced by other identical, to be requested from the
manufacturer.
It is worth pointing out that the intervention of the operator in the normal operation of the
machine has been reduced as much as possible. Operators or other persons should not be near
the machine when it is in operation. The machine operator must perform his task from the tractor
cab.
YES NO
The workers will only be exposed to residual risk in maintenance tasks and in the case of
negligence in their behaviour.
10.1 Definitions.
Depending on the work to perform with or on the machine (maintenance, repair, cleaning, etc.)
the specialised staff will be defined and assigned to carry out each of the tasks.
OPERATOR: Person in charge only of handling the machine during the production cycle
and exclusively for this purpose.
Risk of cuts on the upper limbs with the cutting blades if operating after removing the fixed and
mobile protections installed or being exposed to the action of such.
