Rev. Fr.
Today, we are in the Friday of the Fifth Week of Easter. Together with
the whole Catholic Church we rejoice for Jesus is truly risen!
We also mark one of the most memorable days in our lives – our
Commencement Exercises.
His Holiness Pope Francis Pope Francis invites the entire Church to
reflect on a theme of the Synod on Synodality that is decisive for its life
and mission: “It is precisely this path of synodality which God expects of the
Church of the third millennium.” This journey, which follows in the wake
of the Church’s “renewal” is both a gift and a task: by journeying
together and reflecting together on the journey that has been made, the
Church will be able to learn through Her experience which processes can
help Her to live COMMUNION, to achieve PARTICIPATION, to open
Herself to MISSION.
May we live and work to realize this mission wherever we will be in the
future. And with joy and gratitude in our hearts, we come together to
celebrate the Holy Eucharist in thanksgiving for all the graces we
received from God.

INTRODUCTORY RITE
When the people are gathered, the Priest approaches the altar with the ministers
while the Entrance Chant is sung.
When he has arrived at the altar, after making a profound bow with the ministers,
the venerates the altar with a kiss and, if appropriate, incenses the cross and the altar.
Then, with the ministers, he goes to the chair.
GREETING
When the Entrance Chant is concluded, the Priest and the faithful, standing, sign
themselves with the Sign of the Cross, while the Priest, facing the people, says:
INTRODUCTION
Today is the day that the Lord has made,
let us rejoice and be glad
and we give thanks to God
for He answered our prayers.
PENITENTIAL RITE
Presider:
As we prepare ourselves for this Eucharistic celebration, let us be
deeply aware of the reality of sin in our lives; and our need of
repeated conversion to His Good News. (Pause)
3
even more natural. We lack self-discipline, as we
sometimes waste our time and misuse your blessings.
For the times, we are so self-centered, so weak, forgive
us.
4
Leader 5: Lord Jesus, we have dreamed to be conscious of your
presence in our lives and appreciative of your
goodness. But most of the time, we find great difficulty
in doing so. Lord, we are sorry. Please forgive us.
All: Amen.
KYRIE
The Priest intones the Kyrie and the assembly sings the response.
Presider: You were sent to heal the contrite of heart, Kyrie eleison.
All: Kyrie eleison.
Presider: You came to call sinners all, Christe eleison.
All: Christe eleison.
Presider: You are seated at the right hand of the Father
to intercede for us, to intercede for us, Kyrie, eleison.
All: Kyrie, eleison.
5
GLORIA
The Celebrant intones the Gloria.
Amen, Amen.
6
OPENING PRAYER
Priest:
Let us pray.
Pause for silent prayer.

LITURGY OF THE WORD
FIRST READING Acts 5:27-32, 40b-41
When the captain and the court officers had brought the apostles in
and made them stand before the Sanhedrin, the high priest
questioned them,
“We gave you strict orders did we not,
to stop teaching in that name.
Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching
and want to bring this man’s blood upon us.”
But Peter and the apostles said in reply, “We must obey God rather
than men.
The God of our ancestors raised Jesus,
though you had him killed by hanging him on a tree.
God exalted him at his right hand as leader and savior
to grant Israel repentance and forgiveness of sins.
We are witnesses of these things,
as is the Holy Spirit that God has given to those who obey him.”
RESPONSORIAL PSALM
8
My Heart's Thanksgiving
(Based on Psalm 8, from "O, Bayan ng Diyos")
Arnel DC. Aquino, SJ
Refrain:
As I sing my heart’s thanksgiving
and my eyes look heaven ward,
How the stars you flung like jewels bid your welcome,
shine your light.
As I marvel at your moonrise,
I’m in awe yet I ask.
“What am I that you should love me,
and hold me as your dearest love of all”.
9
Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches.
GOSPEL ACCLAMATION
Alleluia, alleluia.
Christ is risen, creator of all;
he has shown pity on all people.
Alleluia, alleluia.
10
Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them and in like manner the fish.
At that time, Jesus revealed himself again to his disciples at the Sea of
Tiberias.
He revealed himself in this way.
Together were Simon Peter, Thomas called Didymus,
Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, Zebedee’s sons,
and two others of his disciples.
Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.”
They said to him, “We also will come with you.”
So they went out and got into the boat,
but that night they caught nothing.
When it was already dawn, Jesus was standing on the shore;
but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.
Jesus said to them, “Children, have you caught anything to eat?”
They answered him, “No.”
So he said to them, “Cast the net over the right side of the boat
and you will find something.”
So they cast it, and were not able to pull it in
because of the number of fish.
So the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord.”
When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord,
he tucked in his garment, for he was lightly clad,
and jumped into the sea.
The other disciples came in the boat,
for they were not far from shore, only about a hundred yards,
dragging the net with the fish.
When they climbed out on shore,
they saw a charcoal fire with fish on it and bread.
Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you just caught.”
11
So Simon Peter went over and dragged the net ashore
full of one hundred fifty-three large fish.
Even though there were so many, the net was not torn.
Jesus said to them, “Come, have breakfast.”
And none of the disciples dared to ask him, “Who are you?”
because they realized it was the Lord.
Jesus came over and took the bread and gave it to them,
and in like manner the fish.
This was now the third time Jesus was revealed to his disciples
after being raised from the dead.

HOMILY
After the reading of the Gospel, the Presider gives his homily and, at its end, the faithful may be
invited to spend a short time in prayer. The Presider goes back to his chair.
After a period of silence and prayer, the congregation is invited for the Blessing of Graduates.
Commentator: Please remain seated. We shall now have the Blessing of Graduates.
BLESSING OF GRADUATES
Representatives of the graduating class will present to the Presider the Medals and Certificates.
While one of the graduates’ addresses the Presider in these words:
14
We ask you to pray that they always remind us
of our duty to serve God and our country with zeal and loyalty.
With hands extended toward the graduating students the Presider prays:
Presider:
God our Father,
you are the fountain of knowledge and virtue.
Grant that these sons and daughters
whom you filled with divine and human gifts
may dedicate themselves to you and the people
with unfailing generosity and love.
Grant this through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Commentator: We shall now have the Blessing of Diplomas, medals and hoods.
Presider:
Our help is in the name of the Lord.
R: Who made heaven and earth.
Presider:
The Lord be with you.
R: And with your spirit.
15
Presider:
Let us pray:
O Lord, we ask you, bless these diplomas, medals and hoods, fruits
of the many years of toil, labor, joys and sacrifices. Graciously help
these graduates to integrate in their lives what they have learned
for your greater honor and glory and for the service of their
fellowmen, through Christ our Lord.
R: Amen.
In silence the Presider makes the sign of the cross on the graduation symbols: diplomas,
medals and hoods, and sprinkles them with holy water as he moves around the place.
16
R. Risen Lord, hear our Prayer.
1. For Pope Francis, Bishop Dennis, all Bishops, priests, and all the
religious, that they may be strengthened by the grace of the Holy
Spirit as they faithfully serve the flock entrusted to their care. Let us
pray to the Lord.
2. For our government and civic leaders, that God may give them the
grace to work together during this pandemic to promote justice and
special care toward the poor and vulnerable. Let us pray to the Lord.
3. For all those who suffer the consequences of the current pandemic,
that God the Father may grant health to the sick, strength to those
who care for them, comfort to families and salvation to all the victims
who have died. Let us pray to the Lord.
6. For all the Filipino families: that they may remain strong and
united in God's love and presence, that mothers may become
constant source of love for their families and that fathers may remain
faithful to their duties and provide for their families. May all parents
be good examples to their children as they help them find their way
to you. Let us pray to the Lord.
17
7. For the whole Paulinian Community – the Sisters of St. Paul of
Chartres, teachers and staff: That through the intercession of Mary
our Mother, and St. Paul our Patron, they may be witnesses to the
values they teach as they inspire the students to be agents of
transformation not only within their own spheres but also in the
society beyond them. Let us pray to the Lord.
8. For us, the graduating class of 2023 : that we may live our
Paulinian values of Charity, Charism, Commitment to Jesus,
Community and Christ-centeredness. May we constantly be guided
by the ideals of St. Paul and serve the Lord, the Church, and our
country with integrity. Let us pray to the Lord.
9. For all our relatives, friends, benefactors who have gone ahead of
us: may God reward them with the gift of eternal life. Let us pray to
the Lord.
Prayer:
R. Amen
18
The Priest, standing at the altar, takes the paten with the bread and holds it slightly
raised above the altar with both hands, saying in a low voice:
Then he places the paten with the bread on the corporal. If, however, the Offertory
Chant is not sung, the Priest may speak these words aloud; at the end, the people may
acclaim:
The Deacon, or the Bishop, pours wine and a little water into the chalice, saying quietly:
The Bishop then takes the chalice and holds it slightly raised above the altar with both
hands, saying in a low voice:
19
If appropriate, he also incenses the offerings, the cross, and the altar. A Deacon or
other minister then incenses the Bishop and the people.
Then the priest, standing at the side of the altar, washes his hands, saying quietly:
Wash me, O Lord, from my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin.
Standing at the middle of the altar, facing the people, extending and then joining his
hands, he says:
Presider:
Sanctify graciously these gifts, O Lord, we pray,
and, accepting the oblation of this spiritual sacrifice,
make of us an eternal offering to you.
Through Christ our Lord.
R. Amen.
PREFACE I OF EASTER
THE PASCHAL MYSTERY
20
V. Lift up your hearts.
R. We lift them up to the Lord.
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER II
21
He joins his hands and holding them outstretched over the offerings, says:
Then he continues:
He takes the chalice and, raising it a little above the altar, continues:
22
TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT,
FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD,
THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND ETERNAL COVENANT,
WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT FOR YOU AND FOR MANY
FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS.
Therefore, as we celebrate
the memorial of his Death and Resurrection,
we offer you, Lord,
the Bread of life and the Chalice of salvation,
giving thanks that you have held us worthy
to be in your presence and minister to you.
Humbly we pray
that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ,
we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.
Remember, Lord, your Church,
spread throughout the world,
and bring her to the fullness of charity,
together with Francis, our Pope, Dennis, our Bishop,
23
and all the clergy.
24
COMMUNION RITE
The Presider:
25
SIGN OF PEACE
The Presider:
The Presider:
Deacon:
AGNUS DEI
Meanwhile, the Presider takes the host and breaks it over the paten. He places a small piece in the
chalice, saying inaudibly:
26
The Presider says inaudibly:
COMMUNION
The Presider genuflects. Taking the host, he raises it slightly over the paten and, facing
the people, says aloud:
He reverently consumes the body of Christ. Then he takes the chalice and says
inaudibly:
After this he takes the paten or other vessel and goes to the communicants. He takes a
host for each one, raises it a little, and shows it, saying:
While the faithful receive Holy Communion, Eucharistic Hymns are sung.
27
Priest:
Let us pray.
Pause for silent prayer.
Presider:
My dear students, your graduation has come.
Having been educated,
you have been chosen by the Lord in a very special way.
He established a covenant with you to be His people,
now He is sending you out
to be messengers of His Good News and witnesses to his love
wherever you may be in the future.
Faculty 1:
28
Lord, as we stand before You
as formators of these children,
we thank You for all the blessings
that have come our way.
We thank You for the learning,
the insights and the experiences
that made them what they are now.
We are here with them
as they celebrate their graduation
and we commit ourselves
to walk with them in their journey to You.
Give us courage, patience and understanding
that through our examples,
we may enrich their lives
and make them better Christians.
Faculty 2:
My dear students,
the mark of a Christian
is to love one another as Christ has loved,
and that through the love of Christ
may service and justice be spread
for the unity of humankind.
It is the God of love and life,
that worked His wonders through us
for you to reach this wonderful day.
May the learning experiences
and the values learned be cherished,
so that together with our prayers,
may you be led onwards.
Grow then, dear graduates
as sharers of the fullness of God’s abundance.
University President/Dean/Principal:
29
My dear Paulinians,
Go, as another stage of your life begins.
May God fill you with His love,
may His light shine always in your hearts.
The Principal lights her candle from the Paschal candle. Representatives of the
graduating class form their line and have their candles lighted by the President. While
this happens, the Paulinian Mission Song is sung. After which, they remain standing at
the center aisle.
30
After everyone has lighted their
candles, standing along the aisles, the
graduates lead and one of them now
prays:
Graduates:
Lord,
in your providence
and merciful love,
you made us your beloved
sons and daughters.
We pray,
increase the spirit of love you instilled in us
on the day of our baptism
and keep us faithful to you through all our days.
Make us worthy instruments in building your kingdom here on earth.
Help us to make use of all our gifts and talents to serve others,
Make us remember,
that whatever success this world would bring us
comes only from your generosity.
We ask this through Jesus Christ your Son, our teacher and master,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever. Amen.
31
Then immediately follows the Act of Consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Commentator:
We now turn to the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Mother as we consecrate ourselves to her.
ACT OF CONSECRATION
TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY
My Queen, my Mother,
I give myself entirely to you,
and to show my devotion to you,
I consecrate to your Immaculate Heart this day,
my Life and my Eternity,
all that I am, all that I do in serving God.
Immediately after the prayer, a Marian hymn is sung while the class representatives,
who had their candles lighted earlier, will now offer the candles to the Blessed Virgin
Mary. Floral offerers may also follow.
32
At the end of the hymn, Acknowledgements and announcements are
made. The, the Concluding Rites follow.
Commentator:
In behalf of the SPUSM Academic Community, I would like to thank
Reverend Father _______________________ for celebrating the
Eucharist as our thanksgiving and send-off to our Paulinian Graduates and
Completers. I also would like to thank all those who have served both in the
preparation and actual celebration of the Eucharist, for making the
celebration alive and meaningful. For all of these, let us glorify God with a
round of applause.
