Course description
This course is a follow-up to Teaching English Language Skills I. It further aims to equip
teacher candidates of English with teaching English language skills (i.e., speaking, listening,
writing, and reading) and systems (i.e., pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar). In the first term,
the focus was on how to teach speaking, listening, and pronunciation. The focus of the second
half of the course will be on how to teach reading, writing, vocabulary, and grammar.
This course basically aims to teach teacher candidates of English how to develop diverse
teaching skills for learners at different ages and language proficiency levels. The students will
also learn how to adapt their teaching for various groups.
In this course, prospective language teachers will learn how to develop lesson plans, write
objectives for specific language skills, adapt/develop materials and design activities to teach
particular skills at different ages and proficiency levels, and perform micro-teaching
presentations in accordance with general theories, techniques, and principles that will be
discussed throughout the semester.
