Sir / Madame:

This is to request permission from your good office to please allow Jessa
M. Orang , a Senior High School - Grade 12 student, to undergo 80 hours of
WORK IMMERSION in your company/agency to acquire industrial orientation.
The training period will start immediately upon your acceptance of the bearer
under the terms and conditions as stipulated in the duly accomplished
memorandum of agreement hereto attached for your confirmation.

Moreover, a student evaluation is provided where a student is to be


assessed on his/her performance, attitude, and behavior to be attested by the
supervisor. The Immersion Teacher from our school will visit your establishment
from time to time to find out how the student performs in the working area.

PREFACE

Rationale

This Work Immersion Portfolio will serve as a workbook for the students
who will take up the course/subject Work Immersion in Senior High School. The
framework is based on DepEd Order No. 30 s. 2017, entitled Guidelines for Work
Immersion.

This workbook will essentially foster in-depth learning of the world of work
and assessment of student’s performance during work immersion.

Furthermore, the purpose of this portfolio includes but is not limited to the
following:

For Student-Trainees:

 The portfolio will be used as a source of motivation and guide for work
immersion.

 This will serve as a documentation and approval of lessons learned.

 This will provide feedback of their performance level.

 This will pave the way in preparation for real job application.

School:

 This contains regulations and conditions regarding contract between


school and student.

 This is an information about curriculum and record of lessons learned.

 This is a record of student-trainees performance for assessment.

Agency / Company:

 This contains introduction of company in general.

 This enumerates training rules and regulations for training inside the
agency/company.

 This provides feedback to and from student-trainees.

WORK IMMERSION

Grade: 12 No. of Hours: 80 hours


Pre-requisite: Should have taken at least 4 Specialized Subjects
Course Description:
Work Immersion is one of the course requirements for graduation. A
Senior High School student has to undergo Work Immersion in an industry that
directly relates to the student’s postsecondary goal. Through Work Immersion,
the students are exposed to and become familiar with work-related environment
related to their field of specialization to enhance their competence. Specifically,
the students are able to: (i) gain relevant and practical industrial skills under the
guidance of industry experts and workers; (ii) appreciate the importance and
application of the principles and theories taught in school; (iii) enhance their
technical knowledge and skills; (iv) enrich their skills in communications and
human relations; (v) develop good working habits, attitudes, appreciation, and
respect for work. These prepare them to meet the needs and challenges of
employment or higher education after graduation.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Learner

In this course, the learners are expected to:


1. Attend Pre and Post Immersion Activities;
2. Report to the Work Immersion Partner Institution Supervisor during
actual immersion;
3. Perform the duties and tasks as indicated in the prescribed template for
work immersion list of tasks/activities; and
4. Prepare the documentations and reports required in the curriculum and
by the Partner
Institution.

Assessment.
The Work Immersion Teacher and the Work Immersion Partner Institution
Supervisor will jointly assess the learner’s performance following the
DepEd Order No. 8, s. 2015 Policy Guidelines on Classroom Assessment
for the K to 12 Basic Education Program

to whom we are dedicated and inspired the most. Our work immersion journey
would not be a great success nor even possible without their support both
financial and moral, for giving all our needs during the time we developed our
system and for teaching us that even the largest task can be accomplished if it is
done one step at a time.

We would also dedicate this portfolio to our adviser Mrs. Maribel L.


Lacasa and to the head of our department Mr. Jan Michael A. Lio RN. To those
people who gave their time, knowledge and efforts for the good of this journey.
To our friends, classmates and loved ones for their encouragements and for

I. Pre Immersion

Activity 1/The worker

1. Work is on your way. Are you prepared to work? Do you have the
potential, talents, and skills to take up vigour of being a worker? What
should you posses to become a good worker? How will you prepare for
work immersion.

 Yes, I am prepared to work. And have the potential, talents, skills,


to take up the vigour of being a worker. For me, to become a good
worker we need to have some good qualities like intelligence,
preserverance, good leadership skills, and be able to adapt in
different situations. Making sure that I am healthy enough to that
kind of work.

Activity 2

After the pre-immersion orientation, list the Do’s and Don’t’s employed in
the workplace you are assigned:

 Yes, I would agree with the company’s policy guidelines, rules, and
agreement, because these are the foundation to make all things in
order. These are the guiding principle of men, without this, there will
disorganization of all the things most specifically in the company.

Everything is governed by policy guidelines, rules, and agreements
in order to attain a peaceful management of all.

2. Was there a rule that you think is not acceptable to you? Why?

 No, because all of there rules are acceptable. And it’s my duty to
follow their rules because I believe that following rules and
regulations helps employees understand what is expected of them
and what will happen if they don’t follow the rules.

Activity 3/Situation Analysis

CONFIDENTIALITY IN THE WORKPLACE

3. Suppose you work to a police station or a law firm and assigned a


confidentiality agreement regarding all their cases at hand, suddenly your
friend who was a suspect to a crime asked you for some documents that
are in your office’s possession that may help him in case. How would you
deal with the situation?

 I would not give any of the documents even if he/she is my friend.


Because we should follow the rules of our workplace, we should
give our loyalty to every company or department we work for. And
it’s my big responsibility to protect that document. Also, if I get
caught I am obligated to face every sequences.

Activity 4/Conflict Resolution

4. Did you experience disagreement and conflict with your team members or
with your classmate? How did you handle the situation? How would you
rate your skills in handling differences opinion? Please give an example
that illustrate s that skill.

 Yes, I’ve experience having disagreement and conflict with my


classmate. I handle the situation by staying calm and talk to them
about our disagreement. Rating myself I can say that I am better.
Listening both sides and hearing both of explanation is what I do
during this time of situation.

1. During the conduct of the mock interview, do you think you did well?

 Yes, I think I did well according to the comments of my interviewer


which are mostly positive.

2. What are the areas that you think you are good at and areas that needed
to improve?

 According to the comments during my mock interview, it reflected


that I was prepared, maintained eye contact, have modulated voice,

Activity 12/ Nature of the Business

1. Workplace Profile and Location

Municipality Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office


(MDRRMI) is part of Local Government Unit. Located at Sawang,
Guindulman, Bohol. It can be found in front of the fire station.

2. Workplace History

This town was administered by Jesuit priest until 1768 when


Recoletos, former visitor of Jagna. It became a town 1798. Recoletos built
buildings until the rebellion broke out in 1996. Roads and bridges were
built by the Americans during world war 2. Established by Romandante
Estevan Bernido, Son of a Guindulman and one of the famous town of the
war. The Bohol Area of Command, a group of Guerillas. The church,
convents, and Japanese in 1943, during the time of liberation, 1944.
Teodoro Abueva and Purificacion Veloso, parents of national artist
Napoleon Abueva were killed by the Japanese.

Day 1
First day of immersion all the Gas and Agri student were being gathered at
Guindulman Gymnasium to attend the LGU orientation. They discussed the Do’s and
Don’ts of the worksite. After that, they assigned each of us a specific department and I
was being assigned at Municipality Disaster Risk Reduction Office (MDRRMO), and as I
entered the office I greet all the staff there politely, I introduced myself as well the head
of the office and staffs. After which, ma’am Judith told as to water the flower and sweep
the floor. In the afternoon, two of the worker’s of MDRRMO toured as inside the
ambulance.
Day 2
Today marked the second day of immersion I came early at the office and as
I entered the office I greet them politely. After a few while I watered the plants outside
and cleaned the office. Later in the afternoon, Sir Domingo Boncales and ma’am
Michelle Pelonia taught us the proper way on how to bandage a patient with an open
wound and close wound. Later on we were told to do the things they demonstrated.
Day 3
Today marked the third day of immersion I arrived in the office early in the
morning and as I entered the office I greet them politely. Then I watered the plants and
cleaned the office. They later told us that we have no other tasks to do in the morning.
Later in the afternoon, Sir Darwin Rex and ma’am Michelle taught and demonstrated us
on how to rescue a patient with an injury, then we apply the things they demonstrated.
Day 4
For the fourth day of immersion I came early and I entered the office with a
smile on my face as I greeted them politely. After that, I watered the plants and sweep
the floor. After a few, we received a call from Catungawan and then I was being tasked
to came along with the responders to rescue a patient at Catungawan. When we finally
arrived at Catungawan, ma’am Michelle told me to wrote the vital signs of the patient.
Day 5
For the gift day of immersion, I came early and as I entered the office I greet
them politely and do my morning routine which is watering the plants and cleaning the
office. In the afternoon ma’am Marites Sajol told us to help them hauling stuff of
ambulance.
Day 6
For the sixth day of immersion I arrived early and I entered the office with a
smile on my face as I greeted them politely. Then proceeded to water the plants and
clean the office. Ma’am Judith further assigned me to buy spices at Guindulman Public
Market because the other students were assigned to cook. In the afternoon sir Darwin
Rex, ma’am Michelle, and sir Domingo taught and demonstrated us on how to do CPR at
Guindulman Gymnasium. Finally we applied everything they have demonstrated.
Day 7

For the seventh day of immersion, I came early and entered the office with a
smile on my face then, proceed to do my morning routine which is watering the plants
and cleaning the office. After which, ma’am Ella Mae told me to go at registrar office
with a paper that needed to be signed. Later the afternoon, we came along with sir
Domingo and sir Patrick to supply water at barangay Basdio.
Day 8
For the eighth day of immersion, I came early and I entered the office with a
smile on my face as I greeted them politely. Then, I proceed to do my morning routine
which is watering the plants and cleaning the office. After sometime we did the same
task of day 7 where in we came along with sir Domingo and sir Patrick to supply water at
barangay Basdio.
Day 9
For the ninth day of immersion, I came early and started my day with a smile.
As I entered the office, I greeted them politely. I then watered the plants and cleaned
the office. Later on, ma’am Judith told me to came along with them to go at sunkissed
resort because they have paper that needed to be signed by a manager there.
Day 10
For the tenth day of immersion which was the last day, I came early and started
my day with a smile. As I entered the office, I greeted them politely. I then proceeded to
the plants and clean the office with a paper that needed to be signed. Later in the
afternoon, since it was our last day, we all gathered outside the office to take a picture.
After taking the pictures, sir Domingo conducted a test as a form of assessment of our
learning for the entire work immersion program.

Activity 24/ Work Immersion Key Learning’s and Highlights

Reflecting back to my first day at Municipality Disaster Risk Reduction


Office (MDRRMO), it was one of the most memorable experience of my time at
work. After being introduced to everyone, I was handed a tender to work on, in
which they had asked me for recommendations to improve certain aspects of
work wherever I see fit. They were very open and happy for me to contribute as
much as I wanted to, this instantly made me feel comfortable and definitely made
me feel as though I was part of a team.
Work immersion allows us to experience the actual work in the
workplace and learn new things. Work immersion enables us to acquire and
develop the skills of teamwork, communication, productivity and resilience,
decision-making, and attitude. It enables us to have a good attitude towards work
and hones our capabilities so that we can be prepared for any path that we will
soon take.
Based on my experience, the work immersion help me to become
more confidence to face what lies ahead. My work immersion me a real-world
experiences so that I can gain a better understanding of what on future careers.
It also help me to better prepared for the challenges and opportunities that I have
may face in my chosen field.

Activity 25/ My Reflection


Work immersion becomes memorable for me. It gives me an
opportunity to apply what I learned in the classroom through practical
experiences in a real-world setting that includes editing, printing and
communicating.
Work immersion provides me opportunity to interact with
professionals in my chosen field. It also teach me to know more about the
importance of team work. Work immersion can help learning new skills, it
provides me with opportunities to learn new skills and knowledge related to the
field of specialization. It also helps me on how to overcome a challenges, work
immersion can also present challenges, such as adapting to a new work
environment, dealing with difficult task or costumers.
Work immersion provides us students with opportunities to build
professional relationships with our supervisor, colleagues, and clients.
