INTRODUCTION
Senior High School (SHS) covers the last two years of the K to 12 program and includes Grades
11 and 12. In SHS, students will go through a core curriculum and subjects under a track of their
choice.
SHS cannot guarantee employment; but it creates the following opportunities:
Standard requirements will be applied to make sure graduates know enough to be hirable.
You will now be able to apply for TESDA Certificates of Competency (COCs) and National
Certificates (NCs) to provide you with better work opportunities.
Partnerships with different companies will be offered for technical and vocational courses.
You can now get work experience while studying; and companies can even hire you after you
graduate.
Entrepreneurship courses will now be included. Instead of being employed, you can choose to
start your own business after graduating, or choose to further your education by going to college.
Work Immersion is one of the course requirements for graduation. A Senior High School student
has to undergo Work Immersion in an industry that directly relates to the student’s postsecondary
goal. Through Work Immersion, the students are exposed to and become familiar with work-
related environment related to their field of specialization to enhance their competence.
Specifically, the students are able to: (i) gain relevant and practical industrial skills under the
guidance of industry experts and workers; (ii) appreciate the importance and application of the
principles and theories taught in school; (iii) enhance their technical knowledge and skills; (iv)
enrich their skills in communications and human relations; and (v) develop good work habits,
attitudes, appreciation, and respect for work. These prepare them to meet the needs and
challenges of employment or higher education after graduation.
While the other strands are career-specific, the General Academic Strand is great for students
who are still undecided on which track to take. You can choose electives from the different
academic strands under this track. These subjects include Humanities, Social Sciences, Applied
Economics, Organization and Management, and Disaster Preparedness.
About this Strand. This strand is purposively designed for those students who are still indecisive
of what course or degree they want to pursue in college. A student who finished on
this strand can proceed to any college program.
A student who finishes this strand can proceed to any college program; however, he/she to take
some subjects not taken in Senior High but required by a particular college.

Work Immersion Orientation to Parents & Students
“Conducting Oneself in Immersion Period”

The ethics immersion helps students to understand more deeply the nature of ethical thinking, to
recognize and understand ethical dilemmas in private, professional, and public settings, and to
think clearly and critically about possible answers to ethical problems. The immersion also
provides students with the opportunity to acquaint themselves with some of the most influential
writings and thinkers in the philosophical canon. Courses are especially well suited to students
considering careers in law, medicine, business, politics and etc. This immersion is open for all
students.
The Work Immersion Program is a part of Senior High School curriculum consisting of 80 hours
of hands-on experience or work simulation which the Grades 11 and 12 students will undergo.
This document describes the Work Immersion Program and how students, schools and
stakeholders may benefit from their participation.

The Work Immersion Program is one the course requirements for graduation. A SHS student has
to undergo work immersion in a business organization or establishment with work requirements
related to the specialization. Through work immersion, the students are exposed to and are
familiarized with the work related environment related to their field of specialization.

Specifically, the students are able to: Gain relevant and practical industrial skills under the
guidance of industry experts and workers; Appreciate the importance and application of the
principles and theories taught in the classroom, Enhance their technical knowledge and skills;
Prepare them to meet the needs and challenges of employment, entrepreneurship, or higher
education after their graduation.

The Work Immersion Partnership has the following objectives:

To supplement the formal curriculum of the SHS program with special inputs coming from the
stakeholder experts and practitioners in order to make the SHS program aligned and consistent
with work standards,
To develop in the students of the SHS program the knowledge and skills that are relevant to the
needs of the job market in the area,
To provide SHS students relevant learning experiences by giving them exposure to the actual
workplace setting.

POST IMMERSION
Diary Highlights
Monday
My first day at my work immersion. We did fill up a form of working in the PESO Office
in order for us to begin our work. After filling it up, our supervisor said that we need to answer a
talent map first. In which they said that it will identify our skills. After answering the Talent
Map, I was tasked to separate the submitted resume forms according to the places of the
employees.

Tuesday

Tuesday, During the second day we are asked to separate the strips to be used as a
material for creating a Rag. It may seem to be we are doing a side job in the office. Also we
encoded some resumes in their website. And then I am asked to sweep the office before leaving.

Wednesday

In third we repeat the same task we are asked. Encoding the resumes in the PESO
website. Also we are told to pick up some items from the entrance. And again, we separate and
sew the materials for the rag.

Thursday

At the fourth day, I was told to encode the reports and the activities of the employees that
have worked in other establishments. This is encoded to the documents of the PESO Taguig
Oficce. And Also again, we did separate the materials, strips of cloth, to be sewed and created
into a rag.

Friday

On the last day, We also did the same thing but in this one I go to the office earlier since
we lack some hours of being late and for us to fill the working hours that we lack I go to the
office earlier. Then I was told to encode resumes again for the PESO Taguig Office’s Website.
And as you at the end before going home, we treat them some food to thank them for the warm
welcome to us in their office. And also we already got our certificate of completing the work
immersion in their office.

REFLECTION

On our work immersion time, I am say that I’m thankful that I belong in that

particular program because they teach me how to communicate to others.

And also on our work immersion, they teach me other and focus to finish our task.
I learned a lot of things while we are in our immersion to communicate with each

other as a team and I learn to discipline they or myself to good things
