was extremely pleased to know this. Hazrat Maulana Afthab Saaheb
is serving the Deen, by translating the works of our Masha’ikh into
the English Language.
May Almighty Allah accept his effort and bless Maulana’s parents
with the blessings of this effort and keep them in His Divine Shade of
Mercy always. May Allah expand their graves to the extent of their
vision, and may Allah illuminate their graves, and may the window of
Paradise be opened in their graves. O Allah! O Fat’taah! O Allah! O
The Forgiver of sins and The Concealer of Faults! O Most Merciful

All Praise is due to Almighty Allah, The Most Compassionate, The

Most Merciful. Durood and Salaams upon Allah’s Noble and Most
Beloved Rasool Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa ‫ﷺ‬. Peace and Blessings
upon the Noble Family and the Illustrious Companions of the Beloved
Rasool ‫ﷺ‬.
I am tremendously pleased to hear that my dear Maulana Afthab

Cassim Saaheb has translated the ‘Jazbaat e Burhaan’ which is the
composition of poetry of the great Khalifa of Aala Hazrat, Hazrat
Burhaan e Millat ‫ ��یی ہ ��ر��ہ‬into the English language, and like his other
translations of Na’atiya compositions, he has also translated this
work in a poetic form, with the transliteration as well.
Huzoor Burhaan e Millat ‫ ��یی ہ ��ر��ہ‬and his beloved father Hazrat ‘Eid ul
Islam Allama Abdus Salaam Jabalpuri ‫ ��یی ہ ��ر��ہ‬loved Aala Hazrat Imam
Ahle Sunnat ‫ ر ض�ی ال�ہ � ضنہ‬dearly and he loved them both dearly, and thus
showered them with his blessings. This is why you will find the
shades of the writing style of Aala Hazrat ‫ ر ض�ی ال�ہ � ضنہ‬present in the Kalaams
of Huzoor Burhaan e Millat ‫��یی ہ ��ر��ہ‬.
You will also notice how in many of his Kalaams he remembers his
Shaykh, Sayyidi Aala Hazrat Imam Ahle Sunnat ‫ ر ض�ی ال�ہ � ضنہ‬very fondly and
he continues to use his Murshid as his Wasila.

It is my earnest Dua through the Wasila of Nabi e Akram Noor e

Mujassam ‫ ﷺ‬that Almighty Allah accepts this effort of Maulana
Afthab Cassim Saaheb and grants him greater success in all his
endeavours, and may Allah protect him from the jealous and
mischievous ones, and may he continue to defend the Ahle Sunnat
and speak out against the Sulhe-Kullis (agents of unholy unity) and all

The Blessed Son of Huzoor Sayyidi Muhad’dith e Kabeer &

Composing Na'at Couplets is a very challenging discipline. However,

for one who has been blessed with being trained and nurtured in the
court of that personality who is a ‘Sign From Amongst The Signs of
Allah’ and ‘A Miracle From Amongst The Miracles of The Mercy Unto
The Worlds ‫’ﷺ‬, in other words, for one who has been trained by
Imam ul Aashiqeen Sayyiduna Aala Hazrat Imam Ahmed Raza Khan
‫ر ض�ی ال�ہ � ضن ہ‬, even the most challenging discipline becomes a simple and
effortless one.
From amongst such blessed personalities is Huzoor Burhaan e Millat

Wad-Deen Hazrat Allama Mufti Muhammad Burhaan ul Haq Jabalpuri
‫��یی ہ ��ر��ہ‬, whose masterpiece of Na’ats has been published in the Urdu
language, under the name, ‘Jazbaat e Burhaan’.
In this composition of Kalaams, Huzoor Burhaan e Millat ‫��یی ہ ��ر��ہ‬

presented important discussions such as, The Aqaa’id of The Ahle
Sunnat, Ways To Protect One's Imaan, The Miracles of The Beloved
Rasool ‫ﷺ‬, Reformation of Society, Refutation of The Deviants, Ways
To Protect One's self from Deviants, and numerous other Shari'
Rulings, in the form of poetic stanzas.

He presents in a poetic format the explanations of the verses of the
Holy Qur’an and the Ahadith e Mustafa ‫ ﷺ‬which prove and support
the Aqaa’id of the Ahle Sunnat and which elucidates what is true
Imaan. In doing so he says,
Raza e Ahmad e Mursal, Raza Khuda Ki Hai

‘Ataa Habeeb e Ke Haathoñ, ‘Ataa Khuda Ki Hai
Itaa’at Unki Hee Bus Bandagi Khuda Ki Hai
Mataa’e Khalq, Muhammad Ka Aastaana Tha
To The Pleasure of Nabi Ahmad, Allah’s Pleasure Is Connected

Whatever The Beloved Bestows, By Allah, It Has Been Granted
To Obey Him Truly, Is To Serve Almighty Allah, Entirely Devoted
Essential For The Creation, Is Muhammad’s Court, Most Exalted
At another juncture he says,
Khuda Ke Ba’ad Hai, Sab Se Buzurg Un Ki Shaan

Tamaam Mulk e Khuda, Milk e Shaah e Kaun o Makaañ
‘Ana’ Wa ‘Anta’ Se Waazih Yahi Huwa Burhaañ
Dikhaani Shaan Thee, Me’raj Ek Bahaana Tha
After Almighty Allah, His Grand Magnificence, Is Most Exalted

Allah’s Entire Realm, To The King of The Universe, Has Been Granted
O Burhaan! In ‘What Is Mine Is Yours’, It Is Undoubtedly Manifested
The Me’raj Was Just A Cause, So That His Eminence Is Demonstrated
Then whilst discussing the Aqida (belief) of Ilm e Ghaib (Knowledge of

the unseen), he says,
Un Ke Hee Noor Se Paida Hai Jahaañ Phir Un Se

Ghair Mumkin Hai Kisi Cheez Ka Pinhaañ Hona

The Universe Has Been Created From His Noor, Most Certainly
To Keep Anything Hidden From Him, Is Thus An Impossibility
If we were to analyse all the couplets in the composition of Burhaan e

Millat ‫ ��یی ہ ��ر��ہ‬in this manner, then volumes can be written, but due to
the scarcity of time, only a brief discussion has been presented on
this topic.
Deserving admiration and commendations is my dear and respected

friend, Hazrat Allama Mufti Afthab Cassim ‫ ززيي د �ج� ده و ش�رف�ه‬who has taken upon
his strong shoulders, the enormous responsibility of translating the
distinguished works of the pious predecessors into English, in order
to present it to the masses. Allah grant him even greater strength in
his already strong shoulders. This noble personality does not need
any introduction amongst the English speaking masses.
It is my Dua in the Divine Court of Almighty Allah that He Blesses

Hazrat Maulana Afthab Cassim Saaheb Qibla with abundant blessings
in his knowledge and deeds, and accepts his efforts, and makes his
work beneficial to the people. May Allah grant deliverance to his
Noble Parents and reward them with an exalted place in Jannat ul
Firdaus.

The Respected Son-in-law of Huzoor Sayyidi Muhad’dith e Kabeer Qibla
‫ن� ن‬
‫��ده و ��ى ��ى' ر�و�ه �� ىيرم‬
By His Divine Grace, and by the Mercy of His Beloved Nabi ‫ ﷺ‬and the
blessings of Ghaus and Khwaja, Almighty Allah has included Sayyidi
Aala Hazrat Imam Ahmed Raza ‫ ق�دس �رہ‬amongst those special servants,
through whom the Deen of Islam reached its pinnacle, and through
whom the Glorious Message of the Beloved Nabi ‫ﷺ‬, the glowing
model of the Noble Sahaba, and the in-depth research of the A’imma
e Deen, together with their primary and secondary rulings of Islamic
Jurisprudence was spread far and wide.
In fact, Imam Ahmed Raza is a very precious and rare example, both
in person and in his qualities, the likes of whom, is difficult to find in
this era. It is for this reason that the sphere of his services have
spread far and wide, on a global level.
Just as he illuminated the world with his books, his compilations, his
in-depth research and his Fataawa, he also nurtured those humble
and sincere seekers who presented themselves at his blessed court.
He transformed them into moons and stars of knowledge and
guidance, scattering them all over the world. The radiance of these
personalities illuminated the four directions of the world.

It is based on this, that someone once rightfully said,
Waadi Raza Ka Koh e Himaala Raza Ka Hai

Jis Simt Dekhiye Wo ‘Alaaqa Raza Ka Hai
To Raza Belongs The Valley, The Mountains Belong To Raza

In Whichever Direction You Look, That Region Belongs To Raza
Agloñ Ne To Likha Hai Bahut ‘Ilm Deen Par

Jo Kuch Hai Is Sadi Meiñ, Wo Tanha Raza Ka Hai
Those Before Have Written Vastly On The Knowledge of Deen

But Whatever Is In This Century, Belongs Alone To Raza
From amongst the personalities who attained the special blessings of

Raza, is Burhaan e Millat, Hazrat Allama Burhaan ul Haq Jabalpuri ‫��یی ہ‬
‫��ر��ہ‬. He was blessed with showering in the special blessings of Raza,
whilst benefitting from these blessings immensely. This is why he

boldly entered the arena, in order to serve the true Madhab
fearlessly, and no matter whichever field he entered, he proved his
skills and capabilities in that field, thereby becoming a radiant proof
of Righteousness.
The treasures of grandness, and the splendours which those who

sincerely served in the Court of Sayyiduna Aala Hazrat ‫ ق�دس �رہ‬received,
caused them to become renowned throughout the world. Together
with all the other splendours which these personalities attained,
there was one special splendour which they were all blessed with,
and it was this, which granted them all a peerless and special
standing amongst those in their era; and this splendour is the
splendour of Ishq e Risaalat, meaning, they were blessed with the
true and pure love of the Beloved Rasool ‫ﷺ‬. Thus, every one of

those who sincerely served at the court of the Imam repeated these
beautiful words of Imam Ahmed Raza:
Jaan Hai Ishq e Mustafa Roz Fazooñ Kare Khuda

Jis Ko Ho Dard Ka Mazaa Naaz e Dawa Ut’haaye Kyuñ
The Love of Nabi Mustafa Is Indeed My Soul,

Daily O Almighty Allah! Grant It Magnification
Why Should The One Who Loves This Pain,

Seek Out Any Relief, Or Desire Medication?
Ay ‘Ishq Tere Sadqe Jalne Se Ch’hutay Saste

Jo Aag Bujha Degi Wo Aag Laga-ee Hai
O True Love, It Is Through Your Special Blessing,

That We Were Inexpensively Freed From Burning
That Flame Which Will Extinguish Everything,

Is That Flame Which We Have Been Kindling
One beautiful example of this Ishq e Risaalat, is the book Jazbaat e

Burhaan which is before you. Read this book and dive into the
Fountain of the Love of The Beloved Nabi ‫ﷺ‬. Deserving admiration is
the Propagator of Maslak e Aala Hazrat, the Khalifa of Sayyidi Taajush
Shariah ‫ ��یی ہ ��ر��ہ‬and Sayyidi Huzoor Muhad’dith e Kabeer Qibla, The
Sword of Raza, Hazrat Allama Mufti Afthab Cassim Saaheb ‫ زز یید �ج� دہ‬who
has already made this work very simple to read, by transliterating the
Kalaams, and furthermore, he merged it to the tributary of English
Poetry and then connected it to the Grand Fountain of Love. My
abundant Duas are with Hazrat Allama Afthab Cassim Saaheb, who is
a means to you receiving the blessings of Raza very conveniently. On
the occasion of the Third Annual Esaal e Sawaab of his Respected

Father, Jazbaat e Burhaan (The Sentiments of Burhaan) in the form of
Jazbaat e Afthab (The Sentiments of Afthab) is present before you.
His Noble Father has departed from this world, but his capable and
worthy son, is accomplishing a peerless obligation, in order to afford
him peace and tranquillity in his grave, and it is this which is in the
essence of what has been mentioned in the Hadith e Paak that;
When a man passes away, then all but three of his deeds come to an
end. If he leaves these behind, they increase his reward:
1. Sadaqa e Jaariyah (That which is a means of constant charity)
2. Beneficial Knowledge
3. A Pious Son (Child)
In this sense, Allama Afthab Cassim Saaheb is a pious son and a

means of beneficial knowledge as well, and this will surely benefit his
parents in their graves. May Allah shower Rains of Mercy and
Salvation over the grave of his Noble Father, and grant him
deliverance, and a special place in Jannat ul Firdaus, and may Allah
give all parents, a son like Allama Afthab.

Millat ‫��یی ہ ��ر��ہ‬, holds profound significance.
Born in 1310 Hijri as Abdul Baaqi, a name bestowed upon him by his
blessed father, Hadrat Shah Abdus Salaam Qaadiri Razawi ‫��یی ہ ��ر��ہ‬, he
was accorded the title Burhaan al Haq by Huzoor Alahadrat Azeem ul

There have always been such illustrious and brilliant personalities on

this earth, who have dedicated their entire lives and their precious
existence to the sincere service of the pristine Deen, for the service
of the Madhab and Maslak, for the refinement and the guidance of
Muslims, and for the advancement and progression of the Muslim
Society. From the list of such illustrious and brilliant personalities, an
exceptionally unswerving and reliable name is that of The Admirer of
Aala Hazrat, The Khalifa of Aala Hazrat, The Glowing Proof (Burhaan)
of The Deen and The Muslim Society, Hazrat Allama Shah
Muhammad Abdul Baqi Burhaan ul Haq Siddiqui Qaadiri Razvi
Jabalpuri ‫��یی ہ ��ر��ہ‬.
He ‫ ��یی ہ ��ر��ہ‬possessed numerous diverse qualities. Whilst having

impeccable expertise in Islamic Jurisprudence and Fataawa, he was
also a very efficacious physician and an expert in the sciences of
medicine. He was a virtuous leader who had in-depth political insight.
Together with all these and other meritorious attributes, he was also
regarded as a splendid, renowned and eloquent poet in the fields of
poetry and literature.

The talented and promising spiritual son of Imam e Ahl e Sunnat
Sayyidi Aala Hazrat ‫ر ض�ی ال�ہ � ضنہ‬, and his praiseworthy and brilliant student,
namely; Huzoor Burhaan e Millat ‫ ��یی ہ ��ر��ہ‬also strived devotedly to
compile Na’atiya Poetry, and in doing so, he gave the Muslims
‘Jazbaat e Burhaan’ which is a beautiful compilation of Na’ats in
Honour of The Beloved Rasool ‫ﷺ‬. This compilation is a rare pearl for
the Na’at reciters, which also serves as a perfect guide to the Na’at
writers, whilst it serves as a precious source of ardent devoutness for
the true lovers of Mustafa ‫ﷺ‬.
One must remember that a vast number of the Na’atiya Kalaams of

Hazrat Burhaan e Millat ‫ ��یی ہ ��ر��ہ‬were heard by Sayyidi Huzoor Aala
Hazrat ‫ر ض�ی ال�ہ � ضنہ‬, Huzoor Mufti e Azam e Hind ‫ ر ض�ی ال�ہ � ضنہ‬and many other
illustrious personalities of the Ahle Sunnat. I will now present as
examples for you, a few of his couplets, with their English poetic
translations. Whilst offering his love and paying tribute to the King of

He has also composed extremely amazing couplets whilst offering

Durood and Salaam in the Court of the Beloved Nabi ‫ﷺ‬, especially
the couplets which he wrote as a Tazmeen to the Salaam e Raza. This
causes one to enter into a state of spiritual rapture.
Whilst paying tribute to his teacher, his mentor, his spiritual guide
and his spiritual father, the Imam of poetry and literature, Imam e
Ahle Sunnat, Mujad’did e Deen o Millat, Aala Hazrat ‫ر ض�ی ال�ہ � ضنہ‬, Hazrat
Burhaan e Millat ‫ ��یی ہ ��ر��ہ‬expresses and acknowledges his favours and
blessings, and his connection to him; and with true devotion and true
love, he says:

Us Na’al e Mubaarak Ka Burhaañ
Laa-Raib Sanad Se Saabit Hai,

Phir Us Ki Sadaaqat Kya Kehna!

In brief, ‘Jazbaat e Burhaan’ is a bouquet of The Pure Praises of

Almighty Allah, and a Fragrant Garland of Na’ats and Manqabats.
Precision, fluency, eloquence and expressiveness can be seen flowing
in the thoughts and reflections of Huzoor Burhan Millat ‫��یی ہ ��ر��ہ‬. The
eloquence in which he presents his compositions is so impressive,
that it captures the reciter in a very charming style.
Let us now visit the English poetic translation of his work. The
personality who has translated ‘Jazbaat e Burhaan’ into the English
poetry, is the renowned author, the embodiment of knowledge and
sincerity, the communicator of Maslak e Aala Hazrat, the Khalifa of
Huzoor Taajush Shariah and Huzoor Muhad’dith e Kabeer, my
generous well-wisher, Hazrat Allama Mufti Muhammad Afthab

Cassim Qaadiri Razvi Noori Saaheb Qibla ‫دداام � علنينن اا‬, who is the founder
and head of Imam Mustafa Raza Research Centre, Overport, Durban,
South Africa.
We know very well that when it comes to his unwavering firmness in

the matters of Deen and Maslak and his expertise in translating,
Huzoor Afthab e Millat Saaheb Qibla needs no introduction. He is a
true defender of Maslak e Aala Hazrat and a blessed Aalim, Mufti and
writer.
Translating something into poetry is a very time consuming process.

Its name alone causes even the specialists to sweat. However,
through the special sight and the blessings of his Masha’ikh, Huzoor
Afthab e Millat Saaheb Qibla has powerful determination. No matter
how severe the storms may be, he still undertakes the scholarly and
literary voyage which is needed, and by the Grace of Almighty Allah,
and by the Blessings of the Beloved Nabi ‫ﷺ‬, he spends the precious
moments of his life in the intellectual and scholarly world,
undertaking this journey as a successful traveller would.
Prior to this, he has already successfully translated into poetry and

presented both to the masses and the elite, many other Na’at
Compilations, such as the Hadaa’iq e Bakhshish, Saamaan e
Bakhshish, Safina e Bakhshish and the Qabaalah e Bakhshish etc.
Praise be to Allah! This English poetic translation is also adorned with

many meritorious gems. It is the eloquence, insightful thinking and
literary zest of Huzoor Afthab e Millat Qibla that he has represented
the feelings and the sentiment of Huzoor Burhaan e Millat ‫ ��یی ہ ��ر��ہ‬from
Urdu into the English language. For this, he most certainly deserves
thousands of commendations.

I have attempted in this book to present the essence of the meanings

and interpretations of the Kalaams written by Huzoor Sayyidi
Burhaan e Millat ‫ ��یی ہ ��ر��ہ‬to the best of my ability. It must be noted that
like the other works of poetry which I have attempted, this too is not
a direct literal translation, but it is rather an explanatory translation
of Jazbaat e Burhaan. It must also be noted that some Kalaams of
Huzoor Burhaan e Millat ‫ ��یی ہ ��ر��ہ‬are still not available and have thus not
been included in this compilation.

Paa-Posh Bani, Paa-Bos Rahi
‘Thand’i Hoñ Meri Aankheñ Jis Se,

Us Na’al Ki Soorat Kya Kehna!
Those Beautiful Feet of The Beloved Nabi

Which You Covered, And Kissed Dutifully
By Which My Eyes, Receive Coolness And Tranquillity

That Footwear’s Sacred Design, Is Splendid, Indeed!
Wo Bhi Thay Jinhoñ Ne Khidmat Ki,

Us Na’al e Paak e Muhammad Ki
Un Roshan Qismat Waaloñ Ka,

Kaafi Hai ‘Aqeedat-Mandoñ Ko,

Ye Pyaari Nisbat Kya Kehna!
We Too Are Very Proud of Our Good Fortunate And Destiny,

Even Though Not The Na’al, We Have Its Image Most Certainly
For Those Who Are Sincere And Who Strive With Loyalty,

The Destiny of Those Eyes, Are Splendid, Indeed!

The Delight of Those Lips, Are Splendid, Indeed!
Na’alain Pe Qurbaañ Ho Jaawuñ,

Maiñ Un Ka Ghubaar Kahaañ Paawuñ
Ay Kohl e Basaarat Kya Kehna,

Ay Noor e Baseerat Kya Kehna!
Upon The Sacred Na’alain, May I Be Sacrificed Completely

Now, From Where Will I Ever Find, Their Dust, So Holy
O Sacred Surma of My Vision, You Are Splendid, Indeed!

O Light of My Inner Vision, You Are Splendid, Indeed!
Ho Daf’a Bala, Marzoñ Ko Shifa,

Awr Fath o Nusrat Bar A’daa
Ye Us Ka Asar, Ye Faiz Us Ka,

Ye Us Ki Barkat, Kya Kehna!

Whilst Over Our Enemies, It Grants Us Victory

Shaahoñ Ke Saroñ Ke Taaj Baneeñ

Under The Soles of His Sacred Feet, The Na’alain Sat Perfectly
The Crown On The Heads of Kings, It Became Most Certainly

Is My Adornment And Beauty, Which Is Splendid, Indeed!
Murshid Ne Jo Naqsha Pesh Kiya,

Us Na’al e Mubaarak Ka Burhaañ
Laa-Raib Sanad Se Saabit Hai,

Phir Us Ki Sadaaqat Kya Kehna!
The Image of That Sacred Footwear, So Accurately,

O Burhaan, Which Your Murshid, Presented Suitably
Verified, Indeed, Is Its Legitimacy And Authenticity

Its Perfection And Accuracy, Is Splendid, Indeed!
Seene Se Laga, Aankhoñ Meiñ Basa,

Sar Par Usay Rakh Kar, Maang Du’a
Haan! Us Ke Tawassul Se Burhaañ,

Khul Jaayegi Qismat Kya Kehna!

Your Destiny Will Begin To Glow, Which Is Splendid, Indeed!

Aadami Ko Bhi Muyas’sar Nahiñ Insaañ Hona
Until You Do Not Become A Slave of The King of Deen, Completely

Even A Human Being, Will Not Be Regarded A Human, In Reality

Ghair Mumkin Hai Kisi Cheez Ka Pinhaañ Hona
The Universe Has Been Created From His Noor, Most Certainly

Zindagi, Maut, Sabhi Waqt Wo Kaam Aayenge

Un Se Phir Kar, Na Kahiñ Hashr Meiñ Hayraañ Hona
During Your Lifetime And Even In Death, He Will Aid You Constantly
Do Not Reject Him, And End Up Roaming, On Judgement Day, Aimlessly
Hai Shafa’at Pe Nazar, Gar-che Gunahgaar Haiñ Ham

‘Aasiyo Tum Na Kabhi Us Se Hiraasaañ Hona
Our Sights Are On His Intercession, Even Though We Live Sinfully

O Sinners! Never Be Disillusioned, From His Special Mercy

Rahma during his first trip from Jabalpur to Bareilly Shareef, to meet Imam
Ahle Sunnat Imam Ahmed Raza Khan ‫ر ض�ی ال�ہ � ننہ‬. Haji Munshi Abdul Ghaffar
Saaheb sought the permission of Imam Ahle Sunnat and then recited this
Kalaam to him in his beautiful style. After listening to the Kalaam, Huzoor
Sarkaar Mujad’did e Deen o Millat Sayyidi Aala Hazrat ‫ ر ض�ی ال�ہ � ننہ‬called for
Huzoor Burhaan e Millat ‫ ��یی ہ ��ر��ہ‬and then tied his turban on his head and
showered him with Duas with immense happiness. This entire incident can
be perused in the book Ikraam e Imam Ahmad Raza which is written by

Amongst The Sinners of The Ummah, I Will Be Recognised Uniquely,

If On Reckoning Day, He Says This To Me, It Will Brighten My Destiny,
Here Comes Burhaan The Razvi, The One Who Loves Me Dearly
Note: This Kalaam has already been presented earlier as a Na’at Shareef,
but then after writing this Kalaam, Huzoor Sayyidi Sarkaar Burhaan e
Millat ‫ ��یی ہ ��ر��ہ‬was requested to write it as a ‘Musallas’, meaning a three line
poem, commonly known as a ‘Tercet’. Thus, he fulfilled that request and
wrote that Kalaam as a Musallas.
