How many is used to ask questions about the quantity of a countable noun.
How much is used to ask questions about the quantity of an uncountable noun.
Note: Countable nouns can be counted, e.g. an apple, two apples, three apples, etc.
Can take singular or plural verbs ( is – are)
Uncountable nouns cannot be counted, e.g. air, rice, water, etc
Always take singular verb ( is )
Form: The interrogative form How many and How much can be use:
1- When asking how many? we always use the plural of the noun in the question:
How many + countable noun + …..?
2- When asking how much? we always use the singular of the noun in the
question:
How much + uncountable noun + …?
