REVIEW OF THE PAST LESSON

What had we discussed in the last

meeting? The structures of biological
macromolecules and
classifications of carbohydrates.
B. PRESENTATION

If we get carbohydrates in bread,

beans, milk, popcorn, potatoes,
cookies, spaghetti, soft drinks,
corn, and cherry pie.

Where do you think we can get

Lipids? Foods rich in oils include salad
dressing, olives, avocados, peanut
butter, nuts, seeds, and some
fish. Fats are found in animal
meat, dairy products, and cocoa
What are the roles of lipids in our butter.
body?
Answer may vary.
Lipids are fatty compounds that
perform a variety of functions in
your body. They’re part of your
cell membranes and help control
what goes in and out of your cells.
They help with moving and storing
energy, absorbing vitamins, and
making hormones. Having too
much of some lipids is harmful. A
lipid panel can tell you if you have
normal levels.

Let’s now proceed to the structure

of Lipids.

There are three types of lipids.

We have triglycerides,
phospholipids and Sterols.
