Duration: 40 minutes Instructor: Saba Jehangir Khan

School: Govt. Girls High School C-4

Heading Content & Methodology Board Summary

General Developing students’ knowledge and
Objectives understanding of about the nutrients that we
take as a food.
Specific Students will be able to describe the food
Objectives: sources and metabolic functions of calcium and
Cognitive iron.
Affective Students will be able to distinguish among
carbohydrates, proteins and fats.
Psychomotor Students will be able to assemble and specify
the food sources and metabolic functions of
vitamin A, C and D.
Teaching White board, marker, chart, textbook.
Resources
Teaching Lecture cum demonstration method and
Methodology discussion method.
Teaching Brain storming technique, individual work or
Strategies group work.
Previous Teacher will asks some questions to check the 3 minutes
Knowledge previous knowledge of students.
Activity :1 Q.01: How much food is important for
survival of human?

Q.02: What are the sources of food?

Announcemen Teacher relates the previous knowledge of 2 minutes

t of the topic students with topic and announces the topic Nutrition in Human
name and writes it on the board.

Presentation Teacher will tell about the definition of 25 minutes

nutrition in human. It includes the process of Write definition and
taking the food inside body. Its digestion, names of major
transport of digested food to all cells and components of human

elimination of undigested food from the body. food on board.

Then teacher will tell about the major  Carbohydrates
components of human food carbohydrates,  Lipids
lipids, proteins, minerals and vitamins. Then  Nucleic acid
teacher will ask some questions to students.  Proteins
 Carbohydrates:  Minerals
Carbohydrates are the basic source of  Vitamins
energy for all animals. About half to
2/3 of the total calories every animal
consumes daily are from carbohydrates.
Glucose is the most often used
carbohydrate for energy. Other useful
carbohudrates are maltose, lactose,
sucrose and starch.
Activity:02
Teacher will write names on the board of some Names of
foods where humans get carbohydrate. carbohydrate:
 Bread
 Pastas
 Lipids:
 Beans
The lipids present in the food are
 Potatoes
composed of fatty acids bonded to
glycerol. The fatty acids of lipids may
be saturated or unsaturated.

Activity:03 Teacher will clear the concept of

students about saturated and
unsaturated fatty acids.
Saturated fatty acids have all of their
carbon atoms bonded to hydrogen
atoms.
Unsaturated fatty acids have some of
their carbon atoms double bonded in
place of a hydrogen atom.
Activity:04
Butter, milk, cheese,
eggs, mutton, fish,
Teacher will write some examples of
fatty acids on the board.

 Proteins:
Proteins are composed of amino
acids.proteins are essiental components
of the cytoplasm, membranes and
orgnalles. they are also the major
components of muscles, ligaments and
tendons. So we use proteins for growth.
Many proteins play role as enzymes.
Proteins can also be used for gaining
energy.
3

Activity:05
Meat, eggs, grains,
legumes, and dairy
products.
Teacher will write names of some
sources from we get proteins.

 Minerals:
Minerals are inorganic
elements that originate in the Earth and
cannot be made in body. They play
important roles in various body fuctions
and are necessary to maintain health.

Activity06

Teacher will ask some questions from students

to assess students about the topic that she
taught
Q: 01.What is the definition of nutrition in
human?
Q: 02.What is the function of
carbohydrates?
Q: 03.What is amino acid?
Then teacher will teach the students which is
included in the table and explain everything on
it and then will tell about the water and dietary
fibers to students. Teacher will also use charts
for better understanding of students. Chart can
be about major components of human food to
tell about the difference to students.
4

Recapitulation Teacher will ask some questions to students to 5 minutes

assess their understanding about topic.

1. What is the difference between

Carbohydrates, Lipids and Proteins?

2. What are the sources of vitamin C?

3. What is Rickets?

4. What is dietary fiber?

Home Task Then give them the home task to students such 5 minutes
as draw the table of Vitamins and mention the Write home task on the
sources, functions and deficiency symptoms of board.
important vitamins and also draw a chart which
distinguishes among carbohydrates lipids and
fats in terms of their sources energy values and
metabolic functions.

Departure At the end teacher will leave the class by

saying “Allah Hafiz” to students.
