Letter to the Readers

Hello dearest readers! I hope you are doing well!

Since we are almost finished with our education as graduates of the prestigious Junob

National High School, I hope everyone is doing well these days. We all struggle to attain our

academic goals before we graduate. There's an abundance of homework, projects that must be

finished quickly, and school activities that are comparable to this work immersion. We go

outside of our school to get new experiences and interpersonal skills. thus, it is essential that we

take part in this work immersion program. The recollections and information I gained throughout

my last year of high school—the work immersion—are included in this narrative report. I had

gained a range of information that enhanced my own growth. I had room to grow and improve

my skills and knowledge as a result of this experience. This narrative report offers a full

description of everything I accomplished, as well as my experiences and the lessons she learned

throughout her 10-day work immersion.

This narrative report will be very helpful to the next student who will take part in the work

immersion. I sincerely hope and pray that the reader will find this useful for future guidance.

INTRODUCTION

In the Philippines, work immersion is an essential part of the K–12 curriculum that aims

to expose senior high school students to real-world job environments. The main goals are to

assist students in acquiring critical employability skills and deepening their comprehension of the

professional path they have selected. The program gives students the chance to participate in

supervised, unpaid internships where they may put their academic knowledge and abilities to use

in real-world situations through cooperative relationships with regional enterprises. In the end,

the program is designed to help students get prepared for the workforce, build connections

between business and academia, and enhance work-based learning. For senior high school

students, work immersion in the K–12 Philippine curriculum is an organized, supervised, and

unpaid internship. The program is designed to enable students to use the information and abilities

they have learned in the classroom in practical job environments. They will be able to acquire

vital employability skills and have a thorough grasp of the professional path they have selected

by doing this. Because of this, the curriculum places a great emphasis on helping students

become career-ready and building strong industry-academy ties while also giving them real-

world experience in the classroom.

The K–12 curriculum in the Philippines benefits grade 12 students in a number of ways from

work immersion. The set of skills can be developed/acquired when the students are exposed to

real-world environment situations while being interns:

 Develop Employability Skills: Students will be more prepared for the workforce if they

gain real-world experience and acquire critical skills related to their chosen career

pathways.

5
 Apply Academic Knowledge: By putting their academic knowledge and abilities to use in

real-world situations, students can better comprehend the careers they have chosen.

 Create Professional Networks: Get in touch with people in their industry and create

professional networks there.

 Exposure to Workforce Expectations: Become aware of the expectations and demands of

the workforce, which will help them become more equipped for their future employment.

 Enhance Soft Skills: With real-world experience, they may strengthen their cooperation,

communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Objectives of the Work Immersion

The K–12 Basic Education Program aims to instill in students the values, work ethic, and

competences necessary for going on to pursue their education or entering the workforce. In order

to better align the foundational education program with the country's development goals, Work

Immersion has been included as a mandatory topic to the curriculum. This course will provide

students opportunities. This program assist in the development of the learners' life and career

skills and better equip them to decide between work and higher education. DepEd anticipates

that by forming partnerships, the Partner Institutions will give students access to extra learning

materials, workplace or hands-on experience, and chances for work immersion.

1. To familiarize oneself with the workplace.

2. In order to simulate employment.

3. To put their specialized knowledge and applicable disciplines to use in real-world professional

settings.

6
4. Boost their interpersonal and communication abilities.

5. Develop positive attitudes, a respect for work, and solid work habits.

Therefore, Work Immersion is a must for secondary education completion in order to accomplish

the aforementioned goal. Students are placed in real work settings, including offices, labs, and

workshops, where their previous knowledge and skills are applicable.

March 4, 2024/Monday

The day was productive and enjoyable, with the staff of a legal firm being kind and

affable. The participant was assigned a job by Carol Solatorio, who was absent. Her assistant

assisted her with tasks. The participant organized files for others and spent four hours organizing

them. After lunch, they continued organizing files. Junafe was assigned to deliver a file to her

attorney. During the process, the participant accidentally struck an elderly man with an

impairment, causing him to stumble. Despite the incident, the guard eventually agreed to

apologize. The ended with us spending the rest of our time in the firm sleeping.

event. Bea went with the contestants, and I and Ethan watched the program. Although our team

didn't make it to the final round, we were proud of them. We celebrated their achievement in the

contest. Feeling left out, I went home early, crying and almost having a panic attack.

headed to the post office to deliver the files and letter after finishing our meal. We went to the

Hall of Justice and the post office with Ate Pearl. There was a file issue, therefore we returned to

the company and awaited more assignments. We called it a day at 4:46 p.m.

18
Observation and Insights
During our two-week work immersion at the firm, we learned about the legal world, how

attorneys function, and how to handle legal files. During our time as interns at the business, I

understood how difficult it is to work and how valuable time is. Because of the volume of

paperwork to be handled and processed, every second of the day is valuable. When dealing with

paperwork, every aspect must be correct and completed quickly. This encounter was eye-opening

for me because of how careful the job is. I have personally received information and practical

experience with the variables I should consider while deciding on my future job. This experience

has allowed me to develop and prepare for the real world, as well as to learn professional skills

like negotiating and connection building. I developed self-esteem and enhanced my self-

communication abilities by exposing myself via the activities assigned to me. Working for the

company has helped me comprehend the reality of the labor market and employers' expectations.

Furthermore, it allows them to collaborate with professionals and form ties that will benefit their

future professions.

Overall Reflection and Self-Appraisal

I've realized that self-awareness is the key to personal progress. It is critical to frequently

assess our activities, attitudes, and behaviors in order to find opportunities for improvement and

implement good changes. I've found various areas where I want to improve. One of the areas

where I would like to improve my personal development is communication abilities. I realized

that I might improve my capacity to effectively convey my thoughts and ideas, both vocally and

19
in writing. By setting precise objectives and working to develop my communication abilities, I

feel I may become a more successful communicator and strengthen my connections with others.
