Career Development Plan

Question 1

My first career objective is to gain a position as a sales executive in one of the best

companies in Canada. I aim at getting employed where I will use my 2-year experience to

enhance customer satisfaction in the company. The second career objective is to work

passionately to achieve 5 or above years of successful record in the company. In the process of

creating the 5 years successful record, I aim at working to exceed sales targets and provide

high-quality customer service. This will help in the retention of customers and achieving the

sales target of the company (Lieder et al., 2019). The third career objective is to help grow the

company's revenue by maintaining its innovation and competitiveness. I aim to attain this within

the first 5 years of employment.

In addition, after being employed in a given company, I will aim at using my professional

skills such as communication and listening to increase profit in the company. These skills will

help in building good customer relations hence increasing and retaining sales in the company

(Lieder et al., 2019). I will become creative and innovate to attract more customers to the

company. I also aim to learn about new product processes, and procedures for increasing profit

within the first week of their implementation in the company. The industry that I want to work for

is the Cundari company. This company deals with marketing, public relations, and advertising.

In the company, I would like to work as a sales executive.

I would like to work in Toronto in Ontario province. This is because the province is one of

those that consist of large and best marketing companies. Also, a lot of marketing employment

is in demand in the province. The marketing salary that employees receive in Ontario province

is quite reasonable. The salary ranges from 78, 600 CAD to 231,000 CAD yearly (Pasquinelli &

Vuignier, 2020). The salary changes as one get to experience in a given company. For instance,

an employee with 2 years of experience receives a salary of about 89,300 CAD. The salary

continues to increase as one gains experience. It increases by 34% for employees with 2-5

years of experience, 30% for workers with about 5 to 10 years of experience, 21% for those with

10 to 15 years of experience, and 9% for those with 15 to 20 years of experience (Pasquinelli &

Vuignier, 2020). Therefore, working in Ontario province will help me earn a high income as I

continue to work and gain more experience as a sales executive.

Question 2

One of the possible promotional opportunities for career growth is being made the

company’s product manager. A product manager's responsibility is to determine the company's

goals and the demands of its consumers. (Singh, 2019). The manager also determines what a

successful product will look like and plans the way to turn a company's vision into reality.

Therefore, being a product manager is one of the promotional opportunities that I will possibly

gain after being employed in the company. For me to obtain the promotion, I will require about 8

to 10 years of experience. After being employed in the company, I will work smart to gain more

experience such that I will manage to perform the duties of a product manager once am given a

chance. The required certificate of promotion to a product manager is a bachelor's degree in

business administration, computer science, economics, or marketing. Also, an experience of

about 2 to 5 years of product design or development is required.

The senior-level position that I wish to obtain in the company is becoming a leader in

one of the sectors of the company. The sector that I would like to lead is product design and

development. The reason why I wish to obtain this position is that I believe that I have the

necessary leadership skills. As a leader, I will be ready to inspire others with compelling visions,

take risks for the sake of the company's mission, vision, and purpose, demonstrate and build

trust through noticeable actions, demonstrate loyalty, and make the best decisions for a

Question 4

Creating an Action List

The first action plan to achieve my career goals and objectives is to create an action list.

This is a list that outlines what is to be done for goals and objectives to be achieved (Lieder et

al., 2019). The action list divides the main goals and objectives into smaller portions. For

instance, for me to get promoted, I have to learn new skills concerning the position and area of

promotion.

Timeline setting

I will have to set a deadline for achieving my goals and objectives. The timeline will be

set reasonably so that the goals and objectives will not be hard to attain. For instance, I will

increase the sales of the company within the first two weeks of employment. I will utilize my

skills and experiences to ensure that I achieve this goal. Before setting the timeline, I will have

to assess all the goals to determine the amount of time they require to be attained.

Monitoring the progress

Monitoring how the action plan run is the third step to take to achieve the goals and

objectives (Lieder et al., 2019). I will have to monitor all the career development plans set. I will

ensure that all plans run effectively. For instance, to increase the profit of the company, I will

ensure that I find ways of attracting and retaining customers the company. I believe that

increasing the number of customers in the company will increase the sales and profit of the

organization.

Question 5

Potential barriers to achieving the stated career development plan

 Failure to take immediate action for those who do not follow guidelines and rules in the

organization. Judging others according to their mistakes is one of my major weaknesses.

I think that failing to take action as a leader for those who break laws and rules in the

company will be a barrier to my career development plan achievement.

 Failure to share information with others in the company is the second barrier to the

achievement of my career development plan. One of the elements of a successful firm is

having transparent and open communication. (Caiado et al., 2019). Due to my secretive

nature, I think that I will not be able to share information with others.

 The lack of the necessary resources in the company may also be another possible

barrier to the goals and objectives achievement. For instance, the company may lack

skilled human resources to be emulated. In such a case, I will not be able to learn new

skills from the senior workers. Therefore, I will not be promoted due to the lack of skills

and knowledge required for senior positions.

 A lack of clear goals and objectives will also be a barrier to the attainment of my goals

and objectives. Failing to modify my goals so that they look smart will be a barrier to the

fulfillment of the goals (Caiado et al., 2019). Unclear goals and objectives become hard

to achieve. Therefore, I have to set smart goals before getting employed.

 Lack of enough experience may also be a barrier to the goals and objectives (Caiado et

al., 2019). I wish to be promoted to product manager. The minimum experience required

for a product manager is 5 years. With my experience of 2 years, I think that it will be

hard for me to be promoted to a product manager.

 Self-doubt and lack of confidence may also be a barrier to the achievement of my career

development plan. Sometimes I doubt my abilities. I doubt whether I can become a good
PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 2

leader because of my irascible nature. Even if I have the abilities and skills required in

the company, I think that a lack of confidence will lead to failure of achieving my goals

and objectives.
