SUBJECT: NO DISPLAY, SC161-01, 02, SC670 OR PLEASE WAIT AND/OR SC672

SYMPTOM:
The following symptoms may occur:
a) The operation panel screen suddenly shuts off (no display)
b) SC670, SC161-01, SC161-02
c) 'Please wait.' is displayed and/or SC672 is displayed

CAUSE:
In some cases a particular production of ICs on the Controller PCB and Image Processing Unit (IPU) PCB
will cause the above mentioned condition(s). Refer to Location and Identification.
a) Controller PCB components - IC3, IC20 and IC22
b) IPU PCB components - IC7 and IC25
c) Either Controller PCB and/or IPU PCB components

SOLUTION:
Perform the following:
• Replacement of the Controller PCB for Symptom/Cause (a)
• Replacement of the Image Processing Unit (IPU) PCB for Symptom/Cause (b)
• Replacement of both the Image Processing Unit and Controller PCB for Symptom/Cause (c)

NOTE: Part numbers for the Controller PCB and Image Processing Unit (IPU) PCB have not changed.

UNITS AFFECTED:
The machines identified by serial number in combination with the specified IC lot numbers:

NOTE: No action is required on machines without symptoms. Not all machines with these ICs wll exhibit
the symptoms.

The standard warranty process will be extended through December 31, 2013 and will be applied to only
those PCBs that have the suspect ICs that exhibit the symptoms. Description of the symptom(s) and a SMC
report must accompany the standard warranty form.
