Systematic Review Of Literature On The
Usefulness Of Implementing The NTC-ISO9001
Standard In Mexican Companies

Abstract— In the last decade, in Mexican
companies, there has been a growth in the
implementation of the NTC-ISO 9001 standard to
obtain certification in quality management in their
processes, even so, there is many companies that
they do not have a quality management system;
therefore, it is necessary to obtain information
about the positive or negative aspects of the
implementation of this standard in Mexican
companies. For this, a systematic review of the
state of the art or previous studies that can
provide relevant information in this regard is
carried out, searching the Google Scholar
database. Subsequently, the documents that
provide concrete and specific information on the
subject are selected and filtered to review the
quality criteria.
In each of the documents, the aspects involved
in the implementation of the NTC-ISO 9001
standard were analyzed and it is evident that the
main positive aspects that occur in the industry
are present in internal areas such as financial,
educational, and human. Likewise, it is evident
that Mexican companies or SMEs that wish to be
certified in the NTC-ISO 9001 standard will have
excellent benefits and positive aspects both in the
internal processes of the organization and in the
commercial area of the product or service offered.
Finally, a follow-up on the topic raised here is
recommended, since very little information was
found in this regard.

I. INTRODUCTION
During the 21st century, organizations, large
companies and pymes, have wanted to solve the
contemporary and emerging needs that customers
demand in the services or products they provide.
Therefore, companies are highly inclined to constitute
a solid and robust quality management system (QMS)
to meet any type of requirement that customers have.
When a company obtains NTC-ISO 9001
certification, SGC implementation provides more
positive than negative aspects in all areas of the
organization, including its internal and external
customers, which reflects that it is beneficial for

organizations to adopt the GSC in areas such as:
financial, structural, process and customer satisfaction
In this sense, this article is made to highlight the
importance of the implementation of the ISO 9001
standard in Mexican industries and to know the impact
that the quality certificate produces both in the final
consumer and in the organization. Additionally, in
companies that meet the requirements of the ISO 9001
standard, the positive or negative aspects that such
certification entails are observed. This research is
descriptive and qualitative of a non-experimental type,
the articles, degree projects and theses consulted for
the construction of the state of the art, was carried out
during the period between 2018 and 2022.
II. THEORETICAL REFERENCE
NTC-ISO 9001, accredited by UKAS, is
internationally recognized for QMS, so it can be
implemented in any nation. The above positions it as
the most used standard worldwide, with more than 1
million certificates issued throughout 178 countries
with a duration of 5 years to include new customer
needs. This standard belongs to the ISO 9000 family
of standards, which describe the principles of a GSC
and its terminology; however, it is the only certifiable
one of this family.
The NTC-ISO 9001 standard provides a description
guide and requirements related to the development of
quality management systems, regardless of whether
their use will be internal or for certification. The NTC-
ISO 9001 2015 standard maintains a structure of ten
items: Introduction, Object and field of application,
Normative reference, Terms and Definitions,
Organizational context, Leadership, Planning, Support,
Operation, Performance evaluation and Improvement.
According to the latest ISO Survey statistics, the
NTC-ISO 9001 standard has experienced a 3.5%
increase in global certificates in 2020, demonstrating
the growth and importance of certification.
III. METODOLOGY
In the present work, a study is carried out on the
benefits that the implementation of the NTC-ISO 9001
standard entails in Mexican companies and
organizations to obtain an overview regarding the
positive and negative aspects that some of them
revealed. Using the same method, you want to see if

these organizations fully comply with what is required
by the standard or only by carrying out the certification
procedures for greater visualization and/or status
among clients.
A. Planing
To carry out this study, it was necessary to carry
out a systematic review in the Google Scholar
database, since that is where the information about our
problem question is. Next, an advanced search is
performed with key words or essential to minimize the
number of documents. At this point, it is important to
filter only documents that are relevant and contain
relevant information such as: theses, monographs, and
scientific articles. Once the necessary information is
available, documents are checked to avoid selection
errors. This can be seen more clearly in the next
flowchart “Fig. 1,”.
Once the list of documents resulting from the
search was generated, the filter of the time between
the years 2018 and 2022 was applied, to obtain recent
and useful information at the time of the systematic
review. Similar or repeated documents are eliminated
from the documents obtained in the search, which is
presented in Table 1.

C. Selection
Of the 42 documents found in academic Google,
some other filters are applied, which allow you to get
the relevant documents. First the papers of scientific
articles or theses are selected. Second, the process of
preselecting the document starts from the title, reading
the summary, reading the introduction to verify any of
the keywords are present. With this filter the
documents were reduced to 4 documents, which
represents 9.5% of the 42 documents found for the
period 2018-2022.
D. Quality evaluation
To obtain a reliable and quality study, an additional
review with quality criteria is made for the 4 resulting
documents. At this stage, it is reviewed that the
summary, objectives, introduction, methodology,
results, analysis, and conclusions contain key
information for the solution of our research topic. For
this, the following questions were answered that are
useful to measure the quality of the content of the
selected documents. These questions are presented in
table 2.
