Relating the analysis with the theory of Ferdinand de Saussure, Structuralism. ‘I’ in the sentence pertains
to a subject, a independent signifier that expresses solidity, solitude and independence. I and myself are
both reflexive pronoun, a representation of one person who is being described by the verb ‘kept’, which
illustrates that someone’s self is being hidden or sheltered. In which connected to the I and myself
indicating a preservation of something to stay or keep in. Wherein, the I, kept, myself, alive are the
signifier of the underlying meaning of saving one’s life, keeping in touch of a something.

In addition, the words being used by the author were common to the readers vocabulary, so, it’s easy to
comprehend for a person.
