Types of research with examples

There are various types of research, including:

1. **Descriptive Research**: Describes characteristics of a phenomenon or population.

For example, a survey on smartphone usage habits among teenagers.

2. **Experimental Research**: Involves manipulating variables to observe their effect

on another variable. For example, testing the effect of a new drug on blood pressure.

3. **Correlational Research**: Examines the relationship between two or more

variables without manipulation. For example, studying the correlation between
smoking and lung cancer.

4. **Qualitative Research**: Focuses on understanding behaviors, beliefs, or

experiences through methods like interviews or observations. For example,
ethnographic studies exploring cultural practices.

5. **Quantitative Research**: Involves numerical data and statistical analysis to

understand patterns and relationships. For example, analyzing sales data to identify
trends.

6. **Longitudinal Research**: Studies subjects over an extended period to observe

changes or developments. For example, tracking the same group of students from
kindergarten to college to study academic performance.
7. **Cross-sectional Research**: Examines different groups at a single point in time to
compare variables. For example, comparing the reading abilities of different age
groups.

These are just a few examples, and research methods can often overlap or be combined
depending on the research question and objectives.
