An increasing number of people believe that people should not use
animals for personal gain and should have identical rights as humans,
even though others argue that humans must use animals to fulfill their
different needs, comprising uses for food and research. I believe that
people must balance using animals for various needs and satisfying
enough animal rights.
There are many reasons for animal rights such as animals have
inherent value, which is independent of their value to humans.
Proponents of animal rights believe that animals are sentient beings who
deserve the same rights as humans, or at least freedom from exploitation.
They argue that animals experience emotions like pain and fear and that
keeping them in cages or factory farms is cruel. The reality is science
shows us that many species, not just mammals and birds, should be
considered sentient. This is very important for laws, policies, and
people's behavior relating to animals and their welfare.
Opponents of animal rights argue that humans have a right to use
animals for food, research, and other purposes. They point out that
humans have relied on animals for survival for a long time, and that
giving animals rights would be impractical. Animals are used to develop
medical treatments, check the safety of products destined for human use,
and other biomedical, commercial, and healthcare uses.
To sum up, I support both views that people need to satisfy enough
animal rights because animals are sentient but people need animals for
many legitimate reasons in academics and life.
