Foundation Objects

Foundation objects are used to set up data that can be shared across
the entire company, such as job codes, departments, or business units.
Foundation objects are sometimes referred to as “foundation tables”.

the Data Model (XML or MDF)
Records / Instances: individual entities of that type of object stored in the DB

FOs are effective dated

For employees to be assigned a foundation object record, the record must be active. Another
way to say this is the start date of the FO record must be before the start date of the employee
record.
