A321NEO TRANSIT/PRE-FLIGHT CHECK TASK CARD

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. It is intended to ensure continuous serviceability of aircraft to make the intended flight.
2. It is mandatory to carry out all the items and follow this task card during Transit/Pre-Flight Check and not to go
by memory.
3. It includes EDTO transit items and shall be carried out by EDTO qualified personnel in accordance with
applicable approved Air India EDTO Manual.
4. This complies with CAR M Subpart C ‘Continuing Airworthiness M.A. 301 and AMC M.A. 301(1) (pre-flight
inspection.)
5. “Critical task” are tasks, if improperly done, may lead to an un-airworthy condition and/or have an adverse
effect on operational safety.
6. “Satisfactory” means that the item has been checked for security, cleanliness, corrosion, deterioration, wear,
cracks, dents, scores, cuts, distortion, visual evidence of bowing, overheating, freedom from obstruction, leaks,
locking and any other damage.
7. Flight Dispatch will advise the EDTO routes.
8. Ensure that consumable fluids, gases etc. uplifted prior to flight are of the correct specification, free from
contamination, and correctly recorded.

S/No. DESCRIPTION
1. PRELIMINARY ITEMS:
Ensure that following tasks are accomplished:
A. All ground equipment positioned is in proper condition, properly locked & secured.
B. Wheel chocks & safety cones are in position.
C. Place towing lever in “Towing Position” and install pin (If aircraft towing or P/Back required).
D. Install engine covers, pitot, static covers, and landing gear locks & pins in case of adverse weather
warning or aircraft halt exceeds 2 hours.
2. GENERAL
A. Review PDR, DMR, CDR, PFR & AIDS (if generated) reports. Review STATUS on Lower ECAM. Take
action as necessary.
B. Check Validity of Layover Check/Weekly Check/400 FH check/higher inspection Schedules.
C. In case of ACARS inoperative, take print outs of AIDS Reports (01, 02 & 04).
D. Ensure that arrival, departure, “Aircraft hours/cycles since new”, and delay details are recorded in
the TLP.
E. Check Technical Logbook to ensure that the intended flight is not affected by any outstanding
deferred defects. Ensure that all required maintenance has been accomplished and that no required
maintenance action shown in the maintenance statement is overdue or will become due during the
flight.
F. Ensure that special operational requirements (EDTO, RNP RVSM, 8.33 KHz VHF channel spacing etc.)
if any, for the scheduled flight route are complied with.
G. Prior to departure, remove the pink copy of TLP and retain at station.
3. EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT
Check emergency equipment according to “Emergency Equipment Layout Chart” for condition, security and
presence
4. WALK AROUND INSPECTION
A. Carry out a Walk around inspection of the complete aircraft including engines, cabin and cockpit for
evidence of fuel, oil, hydraulic leaks, obvious damages and defects which may have occurred during
the last flight and raise DRS/NRC for corrective action taken if any. Ensure visible aircraft components

and equipment are safe for the flight including:
i. Impact/F.O.D. in particular for any bird feather or sign of bird remains.
ii. Missing or loose parts.
iii. Missing overpressure discharge discs, fuel pressure overpressure disc.
iv. Obstruction of inlets/outlets.
v. Pitot probes, TAT probes, AOA sensors, Static ports for cleanliness and geometry condition
(deformation, obstruction, waviness in surrounding structure).
vi. Obstructions of all drain masts, surge tank air inlet.
vii. Outflow valve condition.
B. Carryout general visual inspection of following for damage and condition:
i. Radome, Exterior surface of fuselage.
ii. wings, wing tip/sharklets, inner wing leading edge and fairings.
iii. static dischargers, flight control surfaces.
iv. Entry/service doors, avionics doors, emergency exits, windows and access doors.
v. pack ram air intake and outlets, emergency ram air inlet flap and outflow valves.
vi. Avionics equipment vent air inlet and outlet valve.
vii. Side wall, ceiling and floor panels, cargo door selector panel, cargo compartment and doors for
satisfactory condition and for displaced blow out panels. A close visual thorough inspection of
blow -out panels to be performed, particularly at the first flight of the day.
C. Check Landing lights, Navigation lights, strobe lights and anti-collision lights for obvious damage and
cleanliness
D. All antennas and beacons for security and cleanliness.
E. Check Oxygen overboard discharge indicator is green
F. Check LH Engine, RH Engine and pylon area for satisfactory condition including:
i. Engine Cowl, Access Panels, Drains, Air intake, fan blades, P2T2 probe/T2 probe and exhaust for
sign of damage and leaks.
ii. Cowl doors correctly closed and latched.
iii. any obvious damage & fuel/oil leakage.
G. Carry out external general visual inspection of aircraft for condition of fuselage skin near each static
port (especially area within red boundary), pitot probes and AOA sensors for satisfactory condition
(RVSM Task).
H. Check landing gear Wheel Well area for following:
i. MLG and NLG shock struts for normal extension.
ii. Condition of brakes and brakes wear indicators, torque link damper, down lock springs.
iii. Wheels & tires for wear, damage, and inflation.
iv. General visual inspection of MLG and NLG and its adjoining structure, nose wheel steering
components, wheel well, landing gear components, shock strut extension and landing gear
doors seals.
v. Parking brake accumulator for correct pressure.
vi. Proximity detectors for cleanliness.
vii. Hydraulic lines and electrical wires for general condition, damage, and leaks.
viii. Towing lug on NLG for security of attachment.
I. Ensure that all the aircraft’s external surfaces and engines are free from ice, snow, sand, dust etc.
5 WATER/WASTE SERVICING:
Ensure freshwater system and toilets are serviced as required.
6 COCKPIT/CABIN CHECKS:
A. Check hydraulic fluid quantity of all the three hydraulic systems. Top up as necessary.

B. Ensure cockpit windows/windshields are clean.
C. Ensure cleanliness of cockpit, passenger compartment, seats, floor, galley area and toilet.
D. Ensure ash trays, seat pockets and galley waste bins are empty and clean.
E. Check cross feed valve operation (EDTO Task).
7 ENGINE/APU OIL SERVICING
A. Check engine oil quantity on the engine oil tank sight gage/Lower ECAM (within 5 to 30 minutes of
Engine shut down). If necessary, add engine oil up to the FULL mark and record uplift in TLP (EDTO).
B. Check APU oil quantity and record uplift in TLP (EDTO).
C. Cross check oil filler cap for proper installation after engine oil servicing (Critical Task).
D. Calculate the oil consumption rate for Engines and APU and record in the TLP (EDTO).
E. If Engine/APU oil consumption rate is higher than AMM limits, carry out rectification as per TSM.
F. Check that “LOW OIL LEVEL” message is not displayed on APU page (Lower ECAM)/APU SERVICE
DATA (EDTO Task).
G. Ensure that there is no “ENG1(2) OIL FILTER CLOG” ECAM warning in PFR (EDTO Task).
8 ADDITIONAL CHECKS
(To be carried out if scheduled halt of aircraft exceeds 4 Hours)
A. Carry out the following checks one hour before departure:
i. Start APU, select APU generator & check for proper operation.
ii. Check all switches and circuit breakers in the cockpit are in normal position.
iii. Check crew oxygen pressure on ECAM.
iv. Check Display units and cockpit gauges for obvious defects.
B. Check last stage of LPT for shingling/unlatching (if applicable).
9 REFUELLING:
A. Obtain water and sediment free fuel samples from bowzer sump drain prior to refueling and from
dispenser filter drain before & after refueling in case of fuel dispenser.
B. Check fuel sample for presence of water /contamination.
C. Ensure that connecting hose from bowzer/dispenser to the aircraft is full of fuel.
D. Take all necessary precautions during refueling.
E. Refuel aircraft up to required dispatch quantity as per AMM procedures & record uplift content in
Technical Logbook.
F. Ensure refuel coupling caps, panels and dipsticks/MLIs are secured in position as required.
10 COLD WEATHER OPERATION
When the aircraft is parked in cold weather (Outside Air Temperature (OAT) lower than 0 deg.C (32.00
deg.F)) and there is no supply of power to the aircraft (no air conditioning), follow the AMM 12-31-00-
600-001.
If de-icing fluids have been previously applied, ensure there are no fluid residues that could endanger air
safety.
11 EDTO PRE-DEPARTURE SERVICE CHECK (PDSC) FOR EDTO CERTIFIED AIRCRAFT
EDTO pre-departure service check (PDSC) checklist is mandatory compliance by licensed departure
engineer before dispatch of aircraft on EDTO sector. After certification PDSC checklist shall be enclosed
with the schedule.
12 SECURITY CHECK:
A. Check the serviceability of the locking mechanism of the door between cockpit and cabin.
B. Inspect cockpit, nose and main L/G wells area (if opened), especially for presence of any suspicious
foreign objects.
C. The following additional areas shall also be especially inspected after layover/ weekly checks (to be

completed before handing over aircraft to commercial department for loading) and if aircraft is on
ground for more than two hours and has been fully off-loaded of passenger /baggage and catering
for presence of any suspicious foreign objects.
Galleys, cabin including hat racks, cargo/baggage compartments, engine air intakes, avionics
compartments, nose, and main L/G wells (if opened).
13 FINAL INSPECTION:
A. Carry out final walk around inspection to ensure:
i. Engine covers, pitot static covers, landing gear locks & pins, restraint devices/blanks/
aperture and engine Fan Cowl Door (FCD) opening key with flag are removed and kept back in
their respective stowage areas. (as applicable);
ii. Engine air intake and exhaust area, pack air intakes and outlets are clear for any loose or foreign
objects.
iii. Engine oil fill access door, Thrust reversers, IDG oil access door (as applicable), Starter valve
override flapper door, Pressure-relief/Start valve handle access door closed;
iv. EEC blower inlet for clearance (LEAP Engine only).
v. Engine cowls closed and latched. (“Critical Task”).
vi. No damage has been caused by ground equipment during aircraft servicing or due baggage
loading.
B. Carry out general visual inspection of APU air intake, exhaust, oil cooler air outlet, fire extinguisher
overpressure indication (red disc).
C. Ensure that all technical documents are completed, valid and on board.
D. Area surrounding the aircraft is clear of ground equipment.
E. If applicable, check Ground connection check valve flap for its integrity and proper closing, after
unplugging of Ground Air conditioning hose.
F. With parking brakes ON, ensure chocks and safety cones are removed.
G. In case of pushback, follow the standard pushback procedure. After push back remove the steering
lockout pin and ensure towing lever is in normal (spring loaded) position.
H. Ensure all doors, cabin doors, APU access door (if not required), LP and HP ground connection doors
closed (if not required), RAT doors, avionics compartment door, flight recorder access door, external
service panels and doors are properly closed, latched. Pay particular attention to external DC/AC
power panel, main cargo door panel and interphone jack flapper door (as applicable).
14 POST DEPARTURE
Send the following documents to the office of the Dy. CAM, AIL, NR.
A. Pink Copy of TLP
B. PFR, AIDS Reports, CRS, and DRS/NRC (if any).
