Check static ports, TAT and pitot probes, angle of attack vanes for condition. Check the fuselage
1.4 for damage in an area within the corner paint markings IAW B737 Dent & Buckle Charts. (Note:
These items are RVSM critical. Inform Maintrol of damage.)
Check right hand and left hand engine cowling for obvious damage, blow out door not open,
1.9
latches secure, check for signs of fluid leakage.
Visually check right hand and left hand inlet cowl, fan rotor spinner and fan rotor blades for
1.10
obvious damage.

landing gear extension appears normal.
Check vertical fin and rudder, horizontal stabilisers and elevators for obvious damage, evidence of
1.15
fluid leakage, missing or damaged static dischargers.
Check engine oil (within 30 minutes of engine shutdown) using CDS and service as required.
1.16
Record oil quantities in Tech. Log.
Check A and B hydraulic system quantities using CDS and service as required. Note: Do not fill
1.17 above 92% full as viewed from the CDS. Record quantities uplifted in Tech Log
1.18 Carry out crew oxygen system operational check.
1.19 Check crew oxygen pressure on P5 (aft overhead panel) indicator.
1.20 Check tail skid (replace shoe if worn to dimple, replace cartridge assembly if warning decal is red).
Volcanic Ash -
1.21 If flight has encountered volcanic ash or if ash is detected during check then ensure that an MOR is
raised and refer to CATP procedure GEN 1002 for further instructions.
Walk round, check complete aircraft externally for:- Obvious damage and defects, leaks and panels
2.1 for security. Ice, frost or snow removed as required, paying particular attention to aerofoils,
control surfaces and hinges.
2.2 Check all moveable flight control surfaces for condition and clear of all obstructions and locks.
2.3 Check toilets serviced as required. Check correct fitment of ashtrays and disposal bins.
2.4 Check potable water contents full.
2.5 Check crew oxygen discharge indicator disc for presence.
Check all appropriate circuit breakers are CLOSED or COLLARED, including galleys.

(Note: Ensure all remote C/Bs that have been disturbed have been reset.)
2.7 Check pitot head covers, static plugs, blanks and ground lock pins removed and stowed.
On FMC Ident page, confirm active FMC navigation database is current and correct for the route to
2.8
be flown.
Check the Autopilot STAB TRIM Cutout Switch, on the Control Stand, is set to the NORMAL
2.9
position.
Volcanic Ash -
2.10 If flight has encountered volcanic ash or if ash is detected during check then ensure that an MOR
is raised and refer to CATP procedure GEN 1002 for further instructions.
2.11 Check Tech. Log for completion and compliance of all “Out-of-Phase” checks if applicable.
Note:
Both the Arrival and Before Flight Sections must be accomplished before the aircraft may be
dispatched.
The “Arrival” section tasks must be repeated prior to flight if the time interval between carrying out
the “Arrival” and “Before Flight” sections is more than 12 hrs; the only exception being that the task to
“check engine oil quantity and service as required”, need not be repeated (as this task is to be carried
out within 30 minutes from engine shutdown).
