Primary purpose of the role


Assist the Maintenance Engineer in the development of maintenance and improvement program as well as
monitor and report project progress and brief to ensure the delivery of projects as per the agreed milestone
and cost

Key accountabilities
• Develop project briefs for nominated projects to identify the needs and outcomes to be addressed by
the delivery organisation and to negotiate project scope to ensure that agreed project milestones and
costs are met.
• Analyse and interpret condition, cost, and other relevant information to support the development
strategies, forward year plans and the current year works program for project maintenance works.
• Monitor and report on infrastructure project progress to evaluate current program and forward year
impacts
• Manage the collection and assessment of infrastructure, and where applicable maritime, asset and
condition data to provide advice on the extent and type of maintenance work required on the
infrastructure projects in the region
• Provide engineering advice on bridge works for rehabilitation and maintenance projects to contribute
to the management of RMS technical risk in infrastructure maintenance and planning

• Manage professional service contractors and internal service providers by preparing documentation,
convening regular progress meetings, and managing deliverables to ensure that specified outcomes
are achieved.
• Coordinate handover and disposal of infrastructure and operating assets to ensure accurate asset
information is maintained.

Key challenges
• Ensuring infrastructure asset and condition information is available to undertake needs assessment
and planning.
• Co-ordinating and managing inputs from a wide range of professional service providers, including
Engineering, environment, heritage, and engineering consultants, to develop project briefs.

Key knowledge and experience


• Knowledge or experience in the technical aspects of materials, equipment and techniques used in
infrastructure maintenance and construction.
• Knowledge and experience in the design, construction and/or maintenance of structures
• Ability to develop infrastructure maintenance projects.
• Ability in the analysis of bridge information, interpretation of infrastructure plans, estimating and
budgeting.

Essential requirements
• A four-year civil/structural engineering degree from an Australian University or equivalent overseas
qualifications.
