Dragonfly pond proposal letter

Speaking from an environmental, social and economically beneficial perspective, Dragonfly

Pond’s interest groups bring many positive attributes that create a sustainable community.
Business owners generate employment opportunities, as well as implement collective and
collaborative activities to the public, such as owning and constructing public centers/malls. This
is why the public centers are all located on the left side of the town. The hotel, mall, factory, and
power plant are all industrial centers that involve human labor, which means that they all serve a
common purpose. That is to commercialize and gain the public to generate financial profits.
Because of this, they lie close to each other and stand far from the living area, so each sector
flows under the same mechanism, in this case one is for living and the other is for working.
Residents are a source of investment for housing, and also create opportunities for
environmental conservation, the preservation of clean water, and implementation of other
environmental protection measures. Because of that, all housing and living installations are
located on the right side of town, civilians are close to each other and can work together to
make the town better. Farmers contribute to food production for the laughing Gullville
community, and also generate economic growth because of harvesting and breeding. Similar to
business owners, they generate employment opportunities and create economic stability.
Because of this they are located in the industrial section of town because they are part of the
work force and generate profit for the community. The Highway department establishes safe
and efficient transportation for Gullville residents as well as commercial resources. Rout ways
as such generate economic growth and connectivity with the community. Because of this the
highways go through the middle of both the downstream and the upstream of the river. They
connect the industrial sector with the living area. Factory owners also generate economic
growth through employment and industrial development, making the production of resources
more efficient, and further innovation of new products, meeting with the community’s needs and
wants (community satisfaction). As explained before, there is an industrial sector, so the factory
is located on the left of town, because of involvement in business and development. The power
plant is a reliable source of electricity that not only creates jobs, but also attracts industries
creating innovation and business. It's located in the industrial sector of town. The Water
treatment/MSW is a very beneficial facility that will improve water quality, prevent ecosystem
degradation, improve public health, and create sustainability. Because of this it's connected to
the downstream of the river cleaning any type of residue that is left from the highways, factory,
and power plant.

Between both ends of land in dragonfly pond, there is a river, a wetland, and a pond crossing
through the middle of the landscape. The placement of any installation is done very strategically,
taking into account the communities needs and wants. The left side of the pond is the industrial
sector, where any practices that involve industrial processes and heavy labor are located
together, so there can be a concentrated workforce that has the same purpose (Generating
economic growth). Often these practice create large amounts of waste and auditory pollution
because of production procedures, so they are placed together and far from the living site to
prevent resident disturbance. This distance will prevent residents from getting any disease from
the waste, as well as disruption caused by noise. Heavy emission production as well as water
waste can negatively affect the community’s health, so in order to maintain stability there are
assigned areas for different purposes. Three additions that I made to my town were a solar
panel field, a curbside composting program, and an extensive green roof on top of the mall. All
of these new infrastructures are sustainable and eco-friendly installations that maximize the use
of organic matter, and also increases the production of oxygen. All of these are located in the
industrial area of the town because of the heavy production levels. These additions can help
maintain the territory’s purification and reduce the pollution that can be concentrated in the
industrial side of town.

Land pollution is always an issue that is present when there is any type of installation that
involves human activity. Waste is going to be produced from consumed goods generating large
amounts of litter and trash that release pollutants into the ground, damaging soil fertility.
Because of this, it is very important to promote sustainable consumption practices that minimize
the amount of pollution that is generated. Water pollution always originates from factories as
well as farms. Waste creates neurological poison as well as pesticide contamination that is
detrimental for organisms in the watershed, it can disrupt ecosystems and harm aquatic life.
Because of this, the addition of treating chemicals and predators in factories and farms can
prevent and remove the pollution from affecting water. Air pollution is generated from industrial
processes that involve any kind of combustion and material handling. The release of particulate
matter and sulfur dioxide is deadly for human health and contributes to the formation of acid
rain. Because of this, using improved combustion technologies and maintaining low sulfur levels
in manufacturing techniques is very important to reduce the amount of pollutants that are
released into the air that humans breathe. Agricultural pollution can be generated from
eutrophication and a loss of biodiversity. The excess animal waste that comes from the cornfield
farm, and harvesting a dominant specie of crop, can disrupt ecological balance and increase the
amount of disease in the environment. Nutrient filtering structures and sustainable planting
methods are essential to optimize land use, and create a sustainable cycle that benefits wildlife
and terrain health.

Something that I learned from this project is the importance of structure placement. When
constructing a town/community, it is extremely significant to take into account factors such as
health, disruption, and conservation. Now, I have clear knowledge of the environmental impact
that certain installations have and the different types of pollution they generate. Something I also
noticed is that there are viable solutions to all these problems, but they are still recurring issues
in today’s society. Often humans prioritize financial and self benefit over environmental
conservation and because of this, we constantly observe our environment being destroyed and
exploited. As a result of this project, I was able to notice how inevitable it is to cause harm to the
environment. All of us are consumers, and as a result we all require certain needs to live, and
these always involve a kind of damage.
