Q.1. Why do you want to study in the UK? What are the benefits of studying in the UK
compared to your home country or other countries?

I have chosen the UK for a number of reasons:

First and foremost, the United Kingdom provides world-class qualifications with the latest
academic knowledge. The teaching facilities are more standard than in my home country. The
country has a long history of providing university education spanning more than 600 years. It is a
racism-free country with no discrimination. The UK is also well known as a safe and economical
country for international students. More importantly, the British degree is well-reputed and
internationally recognized by employers. UK qualifications are accepted worldwide, are more
practical and offer quality education. The tuition fees are quite affordable compared to those of
other countries. Besides, the weather is pretty much similar to my country’s, so it will be easier
for me to adapt to the new environment quickly. I will have the opportunity to meet students
from across the world, which would lead to my personal development, plus I will also experience
UK culture.

Did you consider any other countries?

Initially, I had considered the USA, Canada, and Australia alongside the UK. Firstly, coming
from a third-world nation, my main concern is completing my postgraduate studies at a
prestigious university while staying within my budget. Furthermore, universities in the United
States are way too costly. In comparison to universities in the United States, Canada, and
Australia, I found the universities in the UK to be relatively affordable. Aside from that, the
weather in those countries had an impact on my decision. The temperature in Canada is
unusually/abnormally cold all year, whereas it is extremely hot in Australia. Most importantly, I
can complete my degree in the United Kingdom in a short amount of time, but in the United
States, Canada, or Australia, I would have needed much more time to complete the same
program.

Why do you want to study in the UK rather than your home country Bangladesh?

In terms of teaching methods, the Bangladeshi education system is more focused on the
academic curriculum, whereas in the UK, theoretical and practical education are given equal
importance.

Besides, UK degrees are in high demand in my country’s employment market. Attaining a

degree from a prominent British institution will make me stand out among thousands of potential
candidates in my desired job sector.

Entrepreneurship is a powerful driver of economic and social value creation, which I will attain
once I have an international degree. Many courses have options for work placement and
internships that count toward earning degrees.

Why did you choose to study at Ulster University?

I used the rankings of the Guardian University Guide 2023, the Teaching Excellence Framework
and Course Modules, and facilities to determine which university is the best among these.
I chose Ulster University since it has an excellent league table ranking and reasonable tuition
rates.
According to the Guardian University ranking 2023 this university is ranked 38th position
among 100 universities. In 2022 the university was ranked 58th position. This shows that this
university has improved 20 spots in one year. Not only had this, according to the Complete
University Guide 2023 the university ranked 44th position. In 2022 the Ulster University was
ranked 78th position by Complete Guide University which also shows that the university has
improved their education quality hugely. The student satisfaction rate of this university is 80%.
And the graduate prospect of this university is 70%. This university has got TEF silver rate,
which is a fantastic achievement.
Ulster University is also a dynamic, energetic, and inventive institution with a spirit that
transforms lives, expands minds, develops talents, and achieves goals. Every year, international
students from over 100 countries choose Ulster for its one-of-a-kind experience.
That is why Ulster University is ranked in the top 20% of universities worldwide. All of these
things influenced my decision to pursue Bachelor studies at Ulster University.
In terms of my professional goals, Ulster University offers a diverse set of courses that will help
me achieve a bright future and a fulfilling career.

Which other universities did you consider? Why didn’t you go to those universities?

When considering which university to attend in the UK, I considered the University of
Greenwich, the University of East London, and Ulster University. There are numerous reasons
why I chose not to attend the other universities. For instance, the university’s diversified alumni,
international reputation, location, teaching satisfaction rate, etc. Ulster University is ranked 58th
in the Guardian University Guide 2022, whereas Greenwich and the University of East London
are ranked 94th and 114th. In comparison with Greenwich and the University of East London,
Ulster University's teaching satisfaction rate is higher in percentage at 81.4. The unique
combination of course modules offered by Ulster University also played a vital role in my
decision to choose the University for my higher education. Lastly, I have always wanted to study
in a multicultural and diverse environment with excellent teaching staff and student-friendly
facilities, and I am convinced that studying at Ulster University can provide me with all of that.
