On 31 August 1957, independence was declared.

How do we unite? Hm…


A few years later, in 1963, Singapore, Sarawak and Sabah joined Malaya and all of them
together formed the FederaCon of Malaysia.

In 1965, Singapore was declared as a separate state!

Singapore did not want to unite with us over poliCcal and racial concerns.
