Argumentative Essay About Abortion

Abortion is one of the most controversial topics in today’s society. On the one hand, there are

those who believe that pregnant women should have the right to choose whether or not they

want to terminate their pregnancies. On the other hand, there are those who strongly oppose

abortion and believe it is morally wrong and should be illegal. This essay will discuss both sides

of this argument in order to form a conclusion about whether or not abortion should be legal.

Those who support abortion believe that a woman has the right to choose what she does with

her body and that no one else has any say in the matter. Supporters also point out that if

abortion were illegal, this would put an even bigger strain on already overburdened adoption

centers and put an additional strain on families with too many children. Furthermore, they

argue that pregnant women should not be forced to give birth if they cannot take care of the

child due to financial or other reasons.

Those who are against abortion believe that it is morally wrong and goes against the sanctity of

life. They also point out that a fetus is not just a clump of cells, but a potential life that should be

given the same right to exist as any other human being. Opponents also argue that abortion can

have long-term psychological and medical effects on women who choose to go through with it.

Ultimately, the decision of whether or not to have an abortion lies with the pregnant woman. It

is important for her to consider all of her options and make sure she is making the best decision

for herself and her family. The laws regarding abortion should be decided based on the opinions

of society at large, taking into account both sides of this highly controversial issue. There are no
easy answers when it comes to such an important topic; however, hopefully by considering both

arguments, we can come to a reasonable conclusion about the legality of abortion.

In conclusion, it is up to society at large to decide whether or not abortion should be legal. There

are valid arguments on both sides of the issue and no one answer will satisfy everyone.

Ultimately, it comes down to each individual’s beliefs and values when making this difficult

decision. No matter what side you take on this issue, it is important to remember that there are

real people with real lives affected by this decision and their voices should be heard as well.
