THE USE OF THE LION KINGS MOVIE FILMS TO TEACH

LISTENING IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

INTRODUCTION
Learning a foreign language as a second language is a dynamic process in which several
factors affect learners' linguistic development. The most widely used language for those who
speak a foreign language as a second language is English in Vietnam. It is very difficult to
acquire a foreign language, but there are ways to help second language learners learn the new
language more easily with each skill. I want to speak on how to improve communication skills
in this study. One of the problematic skills for learners, especially young kids, is internal
listening. Therefore to help kids learn this skill well through media, we need very appropriate
learning methods. Practical listening abilities help you understand what the speaker needs to
say and edit the pronunciation and standardize it(Al Murshidi, 2020).
It's rare to teach the skill of listening. While speaking, reading, and writing are taught in
schools, listening is generally covered in only a few courses. In addition, most people are too
preoccupied with talking or planning their next move to take advantage of the many amazing
opportunities to learn about new concepts, ideas, and cultures(Woottipong, 2014).
In order to develop listening skills, effective material used in English as a Foreign Language
(EFL) classes is a crucial aspect of the teaching method. Technology has played an
increasingly important role in the methods of instruction. One technology is video which offers
instructors a wide variety of resource material to be employed in EFL classrooms to improve
students’ listening comprehension.
Watching English Films as media in teaching English helps sensitivity to students’ sense of
hearing. The influence of watching English films is improving students’s listening skills.
Many children and teenagers like English films very much, and the researcher tries to take
advantage of this to make the learning process easier. They will be interested and happy to
learn English and watching English English Films can improve their listening skill(Adnan,
2014)
