warnings related to danger associated with X-Rays Generating Units.
• Damages to the unit, to the operator, to the patient, caused either by wrong
installation or maintenance procedures, different from those described in this
Manual supplied with the unit, and by wrong operations;
Only the authorized personnel can remove the covers and/or have access to the
components under voltage.
Warnings:
• This device has not been designed to be used in environments where vapours,
anesthetic mixes flammable with air, or oxygen and nitrous oxide can be detected.
• Before cleaning the device, please disconnect it from the line voltage.
• Wherever necessary, use the fit accessories, such as the leaded aprons, to protect
the patient from radiation exposure.
• While performing the radiography, no one, apart from the operator and the
patient, must remain in the room.
• Though this unit has been designed with a quite acceptable protection level from
electromagnetic interference, it is advisable to install it at a certain distance from
electrical energy transformation rooms, from static continuity units, from portable
receiving-transmitting units for amateurial use and for cellular use. Cellular
telephones are only admitted at a distance of more than 1.5 m from any
component of the device. Other medical instruments and devices that must be
used in the same installation area of the unit must comply with the
Electromagnetic Compatibility rules in force. Non-complying instruments, of
which the poor immunity from electromagnetic fields is well known, must be
installed at least 3 m away from the equipment and supplied by a different
electrical line.
• The equipment must be OFF while using devices such as electrical scalpels or
similar instruments. The equipment automatically performs some self-test
functions and therefore is able to detect some anomalous conditions. However,
whenever there are doubts on the performance of the equipment (e.g. images too
clear, too dark or with artifacts), the activity must be suspended and an Allengers

a) The radiation exposure to the patient should be the minimum exposure required to
produce images of good diagnostic quality. Use radiation with care, caution and at
a rate which is ALARA - ‘As Low As Reasonably Achievable’
b) The speed of the film, or screen and film combinations should be of fastest speed
consistent with the diagnostic objective of the radiographic examination.
d) When a patient or film must be provided with auxiliary support during radiation
exposure:
(i) Mechanical holding devices shall be used when the technique permits.
(ii) Individuals may be permitted to hold the patient when absolutely
necessary and no individual shall be used routinely for this purpose to
the exclusion of others who might share the task.
(iii) If a human holder is required, the holder shall be positioned such that
no part of body shall be struck by primary X-Ray beam unless
protected by at least 0.5 mm lead equivalent and shall be protected
from direct scatter radiation by protective lead apron of not less then
0.25 mm lead equivalent.
e) Gonadal shielding of not less then 0.25 mm lead equivalent shall be used for
patients who have not passed their reproductive age during radiographic
procedures in which gonads are under primary beam, except, in cases where
shielding would interfere with diagnostic procedures.
g) The X-ray beam should not be directed towards doors or windows of the room, or
towards control panel or darkroom walls unless no other geometry is possible.
h) No patient should wait or change in X-Ray room while another patient is being
radiographed.
i) Except for patients who cannot be moved out of the room, only the staff and
necessary personnel required for medical procedure shall be inside the room
during radiographic exposure. Other then patient being examined:
(i) All individuals shall be positioned such that no part of body is struck
by useful beam unless protected by not less then 0.5 mm lead
equivalent.
(ii) The staff or ancillary persons shall be protected from direct scatter
radiations by protective aprons or full body protective barriers of not
less then 0.25 mm lead equivalent. The aprons shall be wrapped
around if an X-Ray exposure to the back is possible.
(iii) Patients who cannot be moved out from the room shall be protected
from direct scatter radiation by protective barriers not less then 0.25
mm lead equivalent or shall be positioned in such a way that nearest
portion of the body is at least 2 meters away from both the tube head
and nearest edge of image receptor.
l) Use Collimator to set minimal useful field size; keep Image Intensifier in close
proximity to the patient.
3. Keep the air passage clear by turning the head to one side,
opening the patient’s mouth and cleaning it of water, saline,
mucus or blood, a lot of which might have accumulated in the
back of the throat.
4. If the jaw is rigid, try to force the mouth open by pressure on the
gum behind the last molar tooth of the lower jaw. When the
upper air passage is cleared, tilt the head backward and force the
jaw forward from the angles of the jaw in front of the ears. This
would prevent mechanical obstructions to the upper air passages.
5. Hold the chin up and forward with one hand and pinch the nostril
of the victim with other.
6. Take a very deep breath and apply your mouth to that of victim
and blow into his mouth until the chest of the victim moves up
indicating filling of the lungs (Never allow the chin to sag).
7. When the chest has moved up, withdraw your mouth and allow
the chest to sink back.
8. Repeat this process every three to four seconds until the victim
begins to breathe again or until he/she is taken over by Medical
Attendant. This method can be continued in an ambulance during
transit of the patient from the site of accident to the nearest
Medical Centre.

System Overview
Allengers 525 has real time active control of KVP and is displayed digitally. Any one of the
factors viz. Input Voltage Variation, Change of Technic (mA) Selection or change in KVP
results in variation of Displayed KVP. The X-Ray Generator precisely generates the
displayed KVP.
The Radiographic Technic (mA) variation is in 5 steps 100, 200, 300, 400 & 500mA.
Fluoroscopic mA is adjustable with a knob provided on the Control Panel & FmA is
displayed digitally on exposure.
With the help of mode switch, either the radiographic or the fluoroscopic Mode can be
selected.
ALLENGERS-525 is equipped with an Electronic overload circuitry which disallows all the
exposure beyond the tube Rating. This overload takes into account the Selected KVP, mA,
Time & any variation in Input Voltage.
The Table’s Bucky can be Selected either ”IN THE CIRCUIT’ or “OUT OF THE CIRCUIT”
with the help of a Switch provided on the Control Panel.
The line ON/OFF Switches are provided on the Control Panel to Energize / Reenergize the
X-Ray unit.
The ready Switch when pressed initiates the tube Rotor Start & filament Boosting.
The X-Ray Switch when pressed keeping the Ready Switch pressed initiates the exposure
and the exposure gets terminated automatically after the preset time.
A Push Button on the Control Panel resets the Fluoro Timer to Zero Level.
A Miniature Circuit Breaker is provided on the back side of Control Panel for over current
safety.
A Hand Switch with Retractable Cable is provided for exposure. The hand Switch enables
the operator to keep away from Radiation while exposure is being made.

Operation
4. Operation
4.1 Radiography
The operating instructions mentioned below are prepared so that the operation of the
equipment is carried out in proper sequence. It is assumed that before an exposure is made,
the patient will be positioned, Tube Head aligned and cassette loaded & placed at the desired
position etc.
1. Make control ON by pressing ”ON” Push Button. Allow the unit to warm up for 60
Seconds. This interval may be used for positioning patient & other equipments etc.
Note: If the unit is OFF for considerable time (4 hours or more) it is recommended
that the unit be turned “ON” 5 minutes before exposures are made. This will provide
greater consistency of Radiographic Results.
2 Check Voltage on Voltmeter and adjust it to 230 Volts (red line) with the help of
coarse or fine voltage compensators.
3 Ensure Mode Switch is in Radiography Mode.
4 Determine the Technic to be used from Technic Chart and select the desired mA
station.
5 Select Time (seconds) from Timer Knob.
6 Observe mAs reading on mAs digital display and confirm that the required mAs
value is indicated.
7 Select KVP to the desired value by turning the major or minor Tap Switches. If the
indicated value on KVP Display is less or more by a large difference use major KVP
Switch, otherwise adjust with minor KVP Switch.
8 Observe that the selected parameters are within the tube Rating limits (Check that
O/L indicator doesn’t glow).
9 Select Bucky either “IN” or “OUT” of the circuit as desired.
10 Observe the Patient & other devices.
11 To make the exposure, first press the ready switch and keep it pressed for couple of
seconds & then press the X-Ray Switch. Do not release these switches until exposure
starts & terminates automatically as per the selected time. The X-Ray “ON" indicator
will glow during the exposure and mA meter needle would indicate the tube Current
as selected on Technic Selector.
12 If at all the selected combination of mA, KVP and time exceeds the tube Rating limits
the exposure will not initiate on pressing Ready & X-Ray Switch. In this condition
the over load lamp will glow.
13 The unit can now be switched OFF if no immediate exposure is to be made.
With the factors, given in the table, radiographs are taken and films developed with
conventional standard processing procedures. KVP values given in the chart are minimum &
maximum values for different anatomical parts.
With the experience gathered, the finally selected mAs, (mA x sec.) are entered in the
columns provided in the chart and are reliably used for producing consistent & satisfactory
radiographs
