To the Commissioner of the NCCA,

Greetings of peace and prosperity!

This letter's purpose is to let you know what I think or what is my opinion of why Apo Whang-
Od's should give the award. The award should be given to Apo Whang-Od because she deserves it. She
has the criteria to receive the National Living Treasures Award, or "Gawad sa manlilikha ng Bayan,"
(GAMABA).

First and foremost, she is an artist from the Philippines and a member of the indigenous or
traditional culture community. Since she was 15 years old, she has also been participating in the tradition
and craft. She has been creating and performing artistic tattoo arts up until this point. Furthermore. she
has also been awarded an art that helped their tradition and craft develop. Eventually, she is admired for
her character and the integrity of her community in addition to being recognized as a work of art.

Other than that, she is utilizing materials that are native to the community to which she belongs.
She can convey her knowledge to one of her and she is deserving of acknowledgement and an award
because her mastery of the ancient tattooing technique inspires Filipino netizens worldwide. By giving
this award, Apo Whang-Od continued to culturize, support, and promote the traditional style of Filipino
tattoo art despite being influenced by many different nations. Apo Whang-Od is also well-known
throughout the Philippines and other countries and her talent serves to advance the rich heritage of the
Filipino people.

Apo Whang-od of Kalinga is a well-known tattoo artist and is often described as the last and oldest
mambabatok not just in the Philippines but worldwide. Tattoo artistry performed by Apo Whang-od has
significantly shown its relevance in the culture of the Philippines, particularly in Kalinga. In this regard, as
a proud citizen of our country who gives and stresses the importance of the preservation of our culture,
may I request that Apo Whang-od be given due recognition by the commission. It will be a great honor
and pride for the Filipinos to give importance and due honor to one of our cultural icons.

Hope for the commission to have a glimpse of this humble request

More power and to God be the highest glory.

Sincerely yours,
