REFLECTION

The Philippine History like any other nations is very rich in culture, heritage, and

historical facts that has yet to be dig into and discovered by every Filipino citizen. Is it

very much important for Philippine history students like me to know our roots, origin,

and cultural practices both good and bad. In the movie in titled Alone/Together and

Filipino cultural advocates has something to do with us students taking the subject

Philippine History. It shows the movie depicts to individuals who are so passionate in

their field of interest in their life. Despite all the challenges they faced like trivial and

cultural taboo and restrictions to step on foot the said places because according to trivial

chieftain in each place said places and those places are sacred to them. If permitted each

individual has to submit cultural practices like rituals before one could enter in the said

places. Another challenges that they facing are parents of those individuals are

discouraging them to be away from their family for a long time because the place is quite

far from their homes aside from being far to them it is risky for their health and life

because the said places are quite remote and has no electricity, means of transportation.

The only way to reach the area is through barefoot walking. The parents could hardly

communicate them because the said area has no communication signal both internet and

cellular phones. Another challenges their facing is their finances going to the said places

is quite expensive such as travel cost honorarium of escort and guides, foods, medicines,

camping tools, and other related equipment and gadgets.

We Filipinos are hardworking, creative, resourceful, resilient and etc. We can see our

resourcefulness, hardworking, perseverance, and patience in this movie. What happened

in this movie, I can see what my father did to us and to his life. My father is independent

in his young age. Despite of being born poor, he always finds ways like what every

Filipino did. When he studying back then his parents can’t provide for his studies so my

dad works with different companies to sustain his financial studies without help from his

parents. Now my dad always finds ways for us to survive in this world especially now

that his right eye can't see because of his past accident while he travels to go to his work

the vehicle he ride in had an accident that cause his right eye blinded and he early retired

in his work after that. That’s what they did in the movie despite they don’t have support

from LGU/NGO they always find ways to pursue their dreams and passion that they

loved. This phrase inspired me to do my passion and motivated me “Struggling Filipino

cultural advocates must remember that they produce information that the whole world

and future generations can enjoy; thus, their dreams are never worth giving up, no

matter how harsh the “real world” maybe.” That word “their dreams are never worth

giving up” It moved me and touches my heart and soul, It boosts my passion about what I

loved, that my dreams worth fighting for, that’s why I choose Bachelor of Science in

Entrepreneurship because someday I want to build my empire and to help other people by

applying my company soon. To fulfill this dream I need to work hard and always aim for

the goal and don’t get affected by gossip throwing at me. We Filipinos have an

interesting story in history. I have to know also of what is our true identity and culture

back then that no one knows today, I salute those archeologists, historians, and other

branches who want to know about the past. We should love our culture and tradition

because they allow us to come together to mark life's milestones and celebrate our

heritage and the people we love. For many, they provide a sense of home, history, and

identity. Culture and tradition belong to everyone.

Now, it is imperative for every student and Filipino as well to know our roots culture, and

heritage so that we would fully understand better out the situation and be more

appreciative of our own and erase the culture of believing that foreign products, foreign

produce, foreign education, foreign places are far better than our own.
