For millions of vehicles manufactured, for generating electricity, for heating and cooling, and for other
industrial needs, humans have long been dependent on fossil fuels as the source of energy. Almost 90% of the
energy used in the world is from oil, coal, and gas, which are fossil fuels. What is worrying about these fuels is
that they are not eco-friendly and sustainable. Being on the verge of running out and being harmful to the
planet, fossil fuels need alternatives. Furthermore, unlike fossil fuels, these energy sources have to be
renewable and eco-friendly. They have to be renewable; otherwise, they would not be sustainable. They have
to be eco-friendly, or else our planet, which is already suffering from environmental problems, would not be
good enough for human, plant, and animal lives. Alternative energy can be defined as energy sources other
than fossil fuels, which are non-renewable. Therefore, ecofriendly and renewable forms of energy such as solar
energy, wind energy, hydroelectric energy, ocean energy, geothermal energy, hydrogen energy, and biomass
energy come to the fore as common types of alternative energy.
