smaller than mine depending on many factors such as the hook sizes you end
up using, the type of yarn, your tension, and more.

Head

With the colour “White”…

1. 6sc in MR [6]

2. Inc x 6 [12]

3. (sc, inc) x 6 [18]

4. (2sc, inc) x 6 [24]

5. (3sc, inc) x 6 [30]

6 – 7. Sc in each stitch [30]

8. (4sc, inc) x 6 [36]

9. Sc in each stitch [36]

Please mark your 3rd and 4th increase of round 10. This will help you determine
where to insert your safety eyes. Please note: where you put the stitch markers
are not the spots for the safety eyes, they are just so that you do not put your
eyes over the duck's cheeks by mistake.
10. 9sc, inc x 3, 12sc, inc x 3, 9sc [42]

11. Sc in each stitch [42]

12. (5sc, dec) x 6 [36]

Insert safety eyes between rounds 9 and 10, and 7 stitches apart. Make sure you
insert them on the side opposite the beginning of the round. Each set of
increases done on round 10 is what creates the ducks’ large cheeks; you should
insert the eyes in the center between the two cheeks.
13. (4sc, dec) x 6 [30]

14. (3sc, dec) x 6 [24]

15. In BLO (2sc, sc2tog) x 6 [18]

Fasten off and weave in your tail. Stuff the whole head firmly, but add even
more stuffing in the cheeks (where you did your increases on round 10) to
exaggerate the cheeks even more.

Assembly
1. Align the stitches of the head to the stitches of the body. With your yarn
needle, sew the head to the body and when you are almost done with
sewing, stuff the head and body some more (firmly).

2. Squish the sides of the beak and pin (see pictures below) from rounds 9 to
11 of the head. We want to create a dip on both sides of the beak. Press
the beak down as you sew to make sure you follow the same shape you
created.

3. Enhance the dips by going through both sides of the beak with your yarn
tail. Follow the step-by-step pictures for more detail on how I did this.

Now that you are done with sewing, weave

your tail at the top of the beak.

Pull, but not too tightly.

Pull but not too tightly, and weave in your

tail.

4. Pin the tail between round 3 and 15 of the body. When almost done with
sewing, stuff the tail firmly.

5. Pin and sew the feet on round 3 of the body, about 5 stitches apart.

6. Pin and sew the wings between rounds 8 and 15 of the body. The top of
the wings should be on round 15, and the bottom part should be on round
8. There should be 4 vertical stitches separating the wings from the eyes.
Also, to have your wings stick closer to the body you should sew a few
stitches of the top of the wing onto the body (observe the arrows on the
picture below to see how much of the wing I sew onto the body).

7. Put the bucket hat on your duck’s head to help determine where to sew
your straps. Once you figure out their ideal position, insert a stitch marker.
Sew each strap on round 9 of the hat while making sure to keep them
aligned with your stitch markers.
