Chapter 3

METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the methods and design used in the study. The collection of the

samples, the procedures that are performed in conducting the study, and the statistical treatments

of the data that are used in analyzing, presenting, and interpreting the data.

Collection of Samples

The batteries tested are bought from the stores in Commercial Center, MSU, Marawi

City. The chosen batteries are the most commonly used.

Preparation and Testing of Samples

The researchers utilized flashlights to determine the battery life of the selected brand of

the batteries. AA batteries were employed for testing the three chosen brands of batteries. Each

flashlight was labeled with the respective brand of battery designated for testing. Then each

flashlight was loaded with one of the selected battery brands. Each flashlight was activated at the

same time and was monitored until depletion. The times when the flashlights were activated and

when they ceased functioning were recorded. A stopwatch was utilized to take the time of how

many hours and minutes the battery lasted. Hours were expressed as the unit of time in the study,

I hour
minutes were converted to hours by multiplying the number of minutes by the . To
60 minutes

ensure accuracy and reliability, each battery brand underwent three trials.

Mean. The mean ( x ¿ was used for the presentation on the average mean of the battery

life on the selected brands of batteries. The formula gives it
