2.2 Who must read this document?

The information in this guide is useful if you are planning to install, migrate, or configure the Experion PKS
R520.1 system. See this guide to understand the overall product, release interoperabilities, system
dependencies, problem resolutions, known issues, and special considerations. The SCN must be readily
available for reference at any stage of Experion PKS R520.1 system setup.

2.3 Change impact

Change impact addresses the areas where control, operational, or infrastructural changes are delivered as
part of the PAR fix. This is observed when migration occurs from a prior release to the current patch. A
noticeable change in behavior is observed after installing the patch. This section describes such change in
behavior.

2.3.1 Control change impact

Not Applicable.

- 11 -
Chapter 2 - Introduction

2.3.2 Operational change impact

PAR 1-CVZG4X5

Description: In Experion R520.1, "Enable display call up events" is checked by default for newly installed
systems.
Impact: This change was made as journaling display call up events enables improved analysis of operator
activity. There is no impact to system performance.

PAR 1-CVPKOUT

Description: In Experion R520.1, “Disable Server handling of SP/OP keys” is checked by default for newly
installed systems.
Impact: This change was made in response to concerns about potential unintended control change. The
following describes the behavior of this setting:
Option unchecked:
l On a custom display Select alpha that is bound to any parameter of a SCADA point. Example: PV
l Confirmed that message zone shows correct point.parameter
l Press Select OP keyboard shortcuts.
Result: Alpha continues to be selected but in the message zone you see that the parameter now is OP.
Any raise/lower now applies to OP
l Press Select SP keyboard shortcuts
Result: Alpha continues to be selected but in the message zone you see that the parameter now is SP.
Any raise/lower now applies to SP.

Option checked:
l On a custom display Select alpha that is bound to any parameter of a SCADA point. Example: PV
l Confirmed that message zone shows correct point.parameter
l Press Select OP keyboard shortcuts.
Result: Invalid Operation error is seen in the callout. Object selection is lost
l Press Select SP keyboard shortcuts
Result: Invalid Operation error is seen in the callout. Object selection is lost

Maximum number of characters for a value in the 'Value' field of Events

Description: In Experion R520.1, the maximum number of characters for a value in the 'Value' field of
Events has increased from 24 to 40 characters.
Impact: This change may impact processing of results returned through querying of events from client
applications, such as through the ODBC driver, if the client application does not handle the potentially
longer value string gracefully.

PAR 1-DRVRKIF

Description: In Experion R520.1, the "window.external.close" HMIWeb display script function may now
close a SafeView window.

- 12 -
Chapter 2 - Introduction

Impact: In Experion R520.1, a Station window managed by SafeView will now close when the
'window.external.close' script function is executed when in previous releases a script error would occur and
the window would not have closed. This script function is documented as the recommended way to close a
pop-up and the fix in Experion R520.1 for PAR 1-DRVRKIF corrects the behavior such that it will also close
a Station window managed by SafeView.

PAR 1-D6OTUGN

Description: Unable to open duplicate faceplates across multiple monitors when opened using
RequestTask via script.
Impact: The resolution requires the following registry setting to be present and set to value 1.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Honeywell\Station\Faceplates].

NOTE
Only systems affected by the above PAR should set this key.

PAR 1-CU7ZNAJ

Description: Prolonged rapid F4 key taps may cause non-responsive Station when tap/raise lower is
enabled.
Impact: The resolution (delivered in an earlier patch) requires the following registry key to be set.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Honeywell\Station]
"EnableDiscardAckSilKey"=dword:00000001
Rapid and continuous press in F4 key over a long period can cause high CPU issues in Station.
This will cause the station to discard F4 key taps within a 250 ms period.

2.3.3 Infrastructural change impact

Switch configuration to support VLAN for C300 (PCNT05) and CN100

Description: Embedded FTE Tab is now configured in Configuration Studio and is Read Only in Control
Builder. The switch configuration process is now integrated into the Configuration Studio Network Tree and
the configuration files must be generated using “Add/Configure/Replace Switch” task in Configuration
Studio.
Impact: Unable to configure “Embedded FTE preferences” using Control Builder starting from R520.1 and
later releases. You must configure switches using Configuration Studio.
Due to changes in Microsoft Windows On-Screen keyboard, PanelPC may require the following registry
setting:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\TabletTip\1.7]
"DisableNewKeyboardExperience"=dword:00000001

Chapter 6 - New features and enhancements

6.12 Validation of CN100 with Series C Mark II IOMs in 2

meter cabinet for IO HIVE solution
Prior to this release, the CN100 module was launched with Mark I IOTA with IO HIVE functions for Series
C-Mark I IOMs. Since the IO link cable is different between Mark I and Mark II, the Mark I IOTAs and Mark II
IOTAs cannot be connected via the same IO Link. This problem doesn't allow you to use IO HIVE function.
Starting with this release, the Mark I CN100 IOTA is integrated and validated with Series C-Mark II cabinet.
The power header board in the Mark II cabinet has connectors for both Mark I and Mark II IO links. You can
connect Mark I CN100 IO Link cable and Series C-Mark II IOMs to the Power header board in the Series C-
Mark II cabinet and integrate the Mark I CN100 IOTA with Series C-Mark II IOTAs.

6.13 Chromium based Edge Browser on Experion nodes

Beginning with Experion R520.1, Experion Platforms will install Chromium based Edge Browser on all
Experion nodes. Make sure all the applications which makes use of Edge browser works with the new
browser.

6.14 Experion Explorer

Experion Explorer is a new application integrated with Control Builder to view procedural model during
engineering and navigate to the procedural model hierarchy, which is organized into procedure, unit
procedure, operation, and phase procedural elements.

6.15 C300(PCNT05) Controller Features

C300(CC-PCNT05) is the new version of the C300 controller, and it is the foundation for Control HIVE and
the next generation of process control. It also supports traditional deployments and 1:1 controller
redundancy.
C300(PCNT05) supports the key features of its earlier versions, the CC-PCNT01, and CC-PCNT02. It
includes all function block libraries related to Regulatory Control, Discrete Control and Logic, Sequence
Control and Batch, Custom Data Blocks (CDB), and Custom Algorithm Blocks (CAB). C300(PCNT05) also
offers enhanced features, performance, and increased capacity than C300(PCNT02/PCNT01).
C300(PCNT05) in R520.1 is targeted at new installations and expansions. Communication capabilities
supported by C300(PCNT05) include Modbus/TCP via PCDI, EtherNet/IP via EIM, Profinet via EIM, FF via
FIM4/FIM8, Profibus via PGM, Exchange communication, Enhanced VLAN based IO HIVE
communication, and CDA peer-to-peer to C300, ACE, UOC, etc.
The Hardware design of C300(PCNT05) is based on the latest generation of embedded microprocessor
technology and, unlike its earlier versions. It supports an extended temperature range from -40°C to +70°C
for harsh environment mounting. The C300(PCNT05) control processor module mounts on the same IOTA
used by earlier versions, model CC-TCNT01 or DC-TCNT101.
The C300(PCNT05) has an embedded firewall and enhanced security, and it supports direct connectivity
to FTE L2 switches. It also supports connectivity to CF9(RevD), if required. The new Memory Backup
Assembly module (CC-SCMB05) is introduced in R520.1, and it enables C300(PCNT05) to retain its
configuration and operational data in case of external power loss. It allows the C300 to return to normal
operation after power is recovered automatically.

Chapter 6 - New features and enhancements

6.16 Support for configuring specific alarm description in

DATAACQ block
DATAACQ block enables to configure separate alarm description for each alarm type. This is displayed as
a process alarm description in the Experion Station. This functionality enables to override the block
“Description” (DESC) of any alarm type with a specific alarm description. Two new alarm parameters,
Enable Description (ED) and Description (DESC) are added to each alarm type to support this functionality.

6.17 Experion Network Segments

Experion network segments provide logical separation of communication with different high availability
mechanisms over a single physical network. The following network segments are supported.
1. Supervisory (FTE) – for all communication not separated into other segments; legacy FTE from when
only one network segment existed.
2. Control and IO – used for control-IO and control-control peer-peer communication.
3. Control HIVE Management – used for Control HIVE coordination of HIVE controllers and HIVE Control
Applications.

The Supervisory (FTE) network segment uses the legacy four path FTE fault tolerance approach for high
availability, and the Control and IO and Control HIVE Management network segments use a two path
Parallel Redundancy Path (PRP) mechanism for high availability.
The Experion network segments are configured as part of the FTE community configuration in
Configuration Studio. After the network configuration is published to Experion Servers, the network
segment information is distributed to controllers during controller boot-up by a system configuration
service. This service works in conjunction with the Experion BOOTP server to provide complete network
configuration for managing system-wide communication.

6.18 Support for OPC UA Server on a UOC Controller

The OPC UA Server can be configured on a UOC controller and provide read and write data access to an
OPC UA Client. The following project configurations are enabled in this release:
l Creation of OPC UA in UOC
l Configure OPC parameter in OPC UA configuration
l Enable and Disable OPC UA Server in UOC
l Configure OPC UA Server and related address space parameters
l Export and import of UOC with OPC UA Server configuration
l QVCS of UOC with OPC UA Server configuration

Chapter 6 - New features and enhancements

1. HART5 , HART6 and HART7 device connectivity

2. The UOC ControlEdge 900 UIO module will provide access to HART Devices and HART data directly
to Experion Control Execution Environment (CEE), similar to that supported by Series C IO with C300
3. Map HART Device Diagnostic data into Experion alarming subsystem
4. Shows HART Device Information and status via Control Data Access (CDA) parameter access

6.20 CN100
CN100 is a single control module that plugs into an Input Output Terminal Assembly (IOTA). Control
module functions include a control processor, one I/O Link interface, redundancy functions, and FTE
interfaces. CN100 enables Honeywell's Experion I/O HIVE control philosophy to flexibly assign the Series
C I/O channels across multiple C300 controllers. Ethernet interface is built into the controller and supports
redundant FTE communications. The primary and the secondary controllers sit on a common IOTA and the
redundant controller pair synchronizes over backplane. CN100 has a 20 msec scalable controller and the
I/O Link can connect with Series C I/O modules with CF9 functionality embedded in the module. CN100
can have a peer to peer connection with all the Experion native controllers (C300, UOC, ACE, and another
CN100). In R520.1, if CN100 is used as a controller, it now supports Sequential Control Modules.

6.22 IEC61850 interface history backfill support

Prior to Experion R520.1, the IEC61850 interface only backfilled data when communications were lost
between an Intelligent electronic device and the Experion Server or Data Concentrator.
In Experion R520.1, the IEC61850 interface has been enhanced to enable backfilling of sequence of
events and data for buffered and unbuffered reports for all connected IEDs during server switchover or
faiLoss of Viewer.

6.23 DSA security enhancement

In Experion R520.1, the communication protocols for DSA link monitoring have been changed from UDP to
TCP/RPC. This improvement aligns it with existing DSA Data and Notification protocols and delivers
associated security benefits.
For DSA connections to other R520.1 servers, no additional configuration steps are required, but incorrect
DSA account configuration will now cause a link failure.
For DSA connections to pre-R520 servers, an 'Enable UDP link' option exists and it is automatically
enabled during migration for existing connections.

ATTENTION
For DSA connections between R520 and pre-R520 servers, there is now a requirement to configure
DSA in both directions so that 'Enable UDP link' can be selected on the R520 side. Ensure this
configuration is done prior to starting R520 migrations on your site.
Servers can remain 'external' to each other (in different Systems) and DSA does not have to be
enabled in both directions, so your DSA license count will not be affected.

6.24 Experion Batch Historian and Reports

The Experion Batch Historian is an optional component on the Experion installation media, and is included
in the Experion Batch Manager license.
Important features:
l Install on a single Experion Server node to collect events and provide batch data for an entire site
l Easy-to-configure batch reports allow any user to create their own customized reports and view in
HTML, PDF or CSV formats
l Built-in statistics in multi-batch reports for troubleshooting and identifying abnormal or “golden” batches

6.25 Support for Automated Device Commissioning (ADC) in

CN100
ADC and other Project Engineering Tools (PET) operations can be performed on a Series C HART I/O
Module configured on a CN100.

6.26 Experion compatibility with Domain Controller

In Experion R520.1, to perform authentication and name service configuration, Experion system-connected
nodes can use a Domain Controller (DC) configured with either Microsoft Windows 2012, or Windows 2012
R2, or Windows 2016, or Windows 2019 operating system. Domain Controller configured with Microsoft
Windows 2008 R2 does not support Experion R520 system connected nodes.

12. In the right-hand pane name this value Enabled and give it a value of 1

8.3 SafeView workspaces

Existing SafeView workspaces may require modification in order to load. This is because SafeView has
been modified to disallow certain sub-optimal workspace constructs, specifically:
l Windows or groups that share the same name with any other window or group in the same workspace.
l Any group that has only a single element, such as, a single group or a single window inside the group.

As of this release, SafeView will reject to load any workspace with either of these sub-optimal constructs,
noting the nature of the load/syntax error in a dialog box.
Before you load any existing SafeView workspaces after this upgrade, vet all of the operational SafeView
workspaces by either:

- 58 -
Chapter 8 - Special considerations

1. Load them into SafeView textedit.exe and perform a 'syntax check' operation, or
2. Load them into SafeView runtime and make sure there is no error dialog reported, followed by
stopping of the SafeView workspace load. If an error is indicated, follow the below steps.
l Rename any indicated duplicated window or group name to anything else.
l Ungroup any indicated item that is alone in a group.
o If item is a group, simply remove the group/end group clause.
o If item is a window, do the same, but place any match expression for the group inside
the window itself.

l After any necessary changes, make sure, there is no longer, any error reported when loading or
syntax-checking each modified workspace.

8.4 Terminology updates

Beginning with R520.1, the following system-wide terminology changes have been made to improve
consistency:

to indicate New Terminology

The relationship between controller clocks Primary/Secondary
The relationship between communication protocols Master/Responder

8.7 C300 (PCNT05) reported Connected Timeout and P2P

Round Trip alarm when Console brought up with DUP DI
To ensure uninterrupted operation of controllers and stations it is important to validate that IP addresses
and FTE device indexes are unique when commissioning a new node. This is especially true of IO HIVE
implementations where there are multiple networks being integrated. If a duplicate is brought online the
existing node may experience a loss of IO vlan communication. The new node should be taken offline
immediately and properly addressed.

8.8 Unable to load $Server under Peer Configuration tab on

C300v2/v3E, C300 (PCNT05) and ACE nodes
Follow the below steps.
1. Remove the $SERVER from “Peer Configuration” tab.
2. Close and Reopen Control Builder.
3. Open any one CEE configuration in which $SERVER is successful; navigate to “Peer Configuration”
tab and then close it.
4. Performed the above steps one time in Control Builder before you configure $SERVER.
5. Configure $SERVER in CEE and then Load the CEE.

and Flag points icon state shows red
in control builder monitoring tree, if
the AM points are imported to ERDB
using the ELCN Database Import
Tool. No impact on the point data in
the monitoring form or Station detail
displays. The points function without
any issues on the AM node.
Recovery: Mostly seen recovering
automatically within 24 hours,
otherwise requires TPNServer

RELCNTN-4236 ELCN Experion-TPS Usability Error Indication: Configuration of Event
Nodes Initiated Processing Code with an AM Point in
Control Builder returns a block name not found
error.

Description: Experion R511.3, only

EHPM.points are imported and available in the
ERDB, therefore configuring Event Initiated
Processing Code with an AM Point in Control
Builder will return a block name not found error.

Recovery: None.
Workaround: Use Native Window for
configuring Event Initiated Processing Code.
1-DX1Q2MJ IXP-Import Export Usability Error Indication: C300 TARGETPLATFORM
parameter has unexpected value.
Description: Starting in R516.1, the C300
platform blocks common template has a new
TARGETPLATFORM parameter used to
identify the planned C300 hardware type.
When migrating to R520.1, the tools
automatically initialize the C300 platform
blocks TARGETPLATFORM parameter based
on the C300 platform blocks CAPABILITY
parameter setting as follows:

CAPABILITY = disabled results in

TARGETPLATFORM = PCNT01

CAPABILITY = enabled results in

TARGETPLATFORM = PCNT02

The anomaly is that initialization occurs when

TARGETPLATFORM was previously initialized.
For example, when importing a template that
has TARGETPLATFORM = PCNT05 and
CAPABILITY = enabled, the
TARGETPLATFORM is erroneously updated to
PCNT02.
Recovery: Loading TARGETPLATFORM set to
PCNT01 or PCNT02 does not cause any
loading errors but it is recommended to
manually reconfigure the TARGETPLATFORM
to match the planned C300 hardware type
following C300 Platform Block Import or
ERDB Migration.

12.3.1 Honeywell Devices 114
12.4 Industry Standard Interfaces 115
12.5 Third Party Devices 115

12.1 Purpose
This section covers the testing and support status of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)
interfaces.

12.2 Interface support level

Honeywell provides varying levels of support for each SCADA interface dependent on availability of
hardware and the level of support third-party vendors support their software. The following table provides
the levels of support.

SCADA Description
Interface
Support
Level
Supported SCADA interfaces that are fully supported by Honeywell and third party vendors.
If interface relies on third party drivers then these are officially supported and
qualified on the platforms required by Experion.
Validated SCADA interfaces that have been validated by Honeywell or independently by a
customer on Experion. However, these SCADA interfaces rely on third-party vendors
who have either withdrawn the interface or do not officially support the platforms
required by Experion. Honeywell support may be dependent on third-party vendors.
Not SCADA interfaces that have not been fully validated by Honeywell on Experion. These
Validated SCADA interfaces either rely on third-party vendor software that were not supported
on the platforms required by Experion during development, or there is limited
hardware availability or the hardware is obsolete. Honeywell support may be
dependent on third-party vendors.

12.3 SCADA Interface Support

The following tables describe the levels of support for each SCADA interface.
