STUDENT PROGRESS CHART

After you finish an exercise and check your work with your teacher, count the
number of questions you answered correctly. This is your score. Write that
number in the column marked "Your Score" in the chart below. Compare your
scores to the other scores to see how well you did (Excellent, Very Good, or
Good). If your score is the same or below the Minimum score, put a check mark
in the "Need More Practice" column. Go back and review the problems in that
exercise that you answered incorrectly. You may need more instruction or
practice in that area to make sure you've really got the hang of it!

The tense of a verb tells the time something happens. If two verbs in a
sentence refer to the same event, both verbs should be in the same tense.
A verb that shows something happening in the present is in the present tense.
Jen writes one letter every day.
A verb that shows something that has already happened is in the past tense.
Regular verbs form the past tense by adding -d or -ed. Irregular verbs form the
past tense differently.
Yesterday, she packed a huge box to send to the shipping department.
The clerk brought the package to the mailroom.

A verb that shows action that will take place in the future is in the future tense.
Tomorrow, Jen will write a long letter to her customer.
