REFLECTION NO. 3

1. In your school, do you have a culture that you follow?

The guiding beliefs or ethos, underlying assumptions, expectations, norms, and values that give a
school its identity, influence the way a school operates, and affect the behavior of principals,
teachers, support staff, and learners.
2. Can the project go wrong at the initiation phase?

Project initiation is the first step in starting a new project. During the project initiation phase, you
establish why you’re doing the project and what business value it will deliver --- then use that
information to secure buy-in from stakeholders.
Starting a new project is exciting, but it’s important to make sure your initiative will actually add
value before jumping into the planning phase. That’s where project initiation comes in—it offers
a structured approach to demonstrate your project’s business case and prove that the work you’ll
do is feasible. Project initiation also ensures that you loop in stakeholders early on, so you can
secure essential resources, gain visibility for your project, and prevent costly roadblocks down
the road.
Possibly the most common pitfall is failing to initiate a project properly by spending the time to
gather and agree to customer requirements, create a good project plan, and set customer
expectations. Some of the common problems in the initiation stage are unclear project objectives
with poor communication between the project manager and their members.
3. Who should be part of the strategic management important?

There are five essential tasks of strategic management. They include developing a strategic
vision and mission, setting objectives, crafting tactics to achieve those objectives, implementing
and executing the tactics, and evaluating and measuring performance.
Strategic planning starts at the top. The strategic planning process should involve the senior
managers of an organization, and any key employees, who can actively contribute to the long-
term planning of the organization. Each management team must decide who should participate in
the planning process.
The first stage in the development of a strategic plan for the organization involves determining
who needs to be involved in the planning process.

The Management Committee needs to decide who should be involved in the strategic planning
process. Generally, it should involve as appropriate:
 those who will be implementing the plan (e.g. management, staff, volunteers)
 those who will be affected (e.g. members, users, etc)
 those who will monitor its implementation (e.g. Management Committee)
 others who can contribute to its development (e.g. community activists, funding bodies,
etc)
Because a strategic plan establishes a direction for your business to take, it will help it sharpen its
focus in order to get there. Strategic planning can therefore help your organization develop the
right goals and targets and help everyone focus their efforts on meeting them.
4. Why is strategic project management important?

Strategic Project Management (SPM) defines the big picture of how the project may benefit the
company's efficiency and as a whole. This process combines project management methodologies
and frameworks and business strategies to drive organizational breakthroughs.
It's accelerated by brainstorming and problem-solving activities so that a project will not only be
completed successfully but more efficiently and faster.

This is where the importance of strategic project management comes into play. Tying projects to
strategy allows teams to set proper expectations around what can be delivered, by when, and for
what cost. Without a strategy, projects can derail and go horribly out of scope.
Project management in this new enterprise era needs to be smarter than traditional approaches.
To go deeper into the root causes of project failures, companies must develop a broader vision
and look at business planning and project management from a strategic perspective.
Optimal business performance depends on high-quality project management, and companies can
achieve that only through the implementation of strategic planning in project management. To
ensure the best results from strategic project management, it is also crucial for organizations to
create a culture that promotes strategic goals. The implementation of strategic project
management leads to achieving a competitive market advantage.

5. How do structure and culture control behavior in an organization?

The key to a successful organization is to have a culture based on a strongly held and widely
shared set of beliefs that are supported by strategy and structure. When an organization has a
strong culture, three things happen: Employees know how top management wants them to
respond to any situation, employees believe that the expected response is the proper one, and
employees know that they will be rewarded for demonstrating the organization's values.
Employers have a vital role in perpetuating a strong culture, starting with recruiting and selecting
applicants who will share the organization's beliefs and thrive in that culture, developing
orientation, training, and performance management programs that outline and reinforce the
organization's core values and ensuring that appropriate rewards and recognition go to employees
who truly embody the values.
An organization's culture defines the proper way to behave within the organization. This culture
consists of shared beliefs and values established by leaders and then communicated and
reinforced through various methods, ultimately shaping employee perceptions, behaviors, and

understanding. Organizational culture sets the context for everything an enterprise does. Because
industries and situations vary significantly, there is not a one-size-fits-all culture template that
meets the needs of all organizations.
A strong culture is a common denominator among the most successful companies. All have
consensus at the top regarding cultural priorities, and those values focus not on individuals but
on the organization and its goals.
Conversely, an ineffective culture can bring down the organization and its leadership.
Disengaged employees, high turnover, poor customer relations, and lower profits are examples
of how the wrong culture can negatively impact the bottom line.

6. Tell me the snapshot of your dreams for DepEd and how these dreams will be
achieved through projects to be implemented. As a classroom teacher, what are the
projects/programs you would like to be conducted in basic education? If possible,
how does it impact the education system in the Philippines?

My dream for DepEd or for the educational system that we have in the Philippines is to be more
updated in means of technology. I want to see our educational system using updated gadgets for
learning that is very adaptable to 21st-century learners. Our government should start a project
about the wide implementation of using updated gadgets as part or medium of the student-
teacher learning process. The goal or aim of this project will be to focus on the effectiveness and
hundred percent usage of these gadgets in the learning process.

As a classroom teacher, I want to have a project or program about inclusive education. All
students, regardless of any challenges they may have, are placed in age-appropriate general
education classes that are in their own neighborhood schools to receive high-quality instruction,
interventions, and supports that enable them to meet success in the core curriculum.

Inclusive systems provide a better-quality education for all children and are instrumental in
changing discriminatory attitudes. Schools provide the context for a child’s first relationship with
the world outside their families, enabling the development of social relationships and
interactions. Respect and understanding grow when students of diverse abilities and backgrounds
play, socialize, and learn together.

Education that excludes and segregates perpetuates discrimination against traditionally

marginalized groups. When education is more inclusive, so are concepts of civic participation,
employment, and community life.
